You could make the same argument for Destiny's POV. He said the government couldn't just break into your phone (i.e. Apple/FBI), but then said a data engineer would easily be able to change votes. The government is full of people like that single data engineer.
@navinmathew848
@navinmathew848 Жыл бұрын
@@TrankDuo7 i think destiny's argument was that it is harder to change a lot of votes on a paper ballot one by one, than it is to change something that is on a database. Obviously updating a database will require the right permissions, and will surely leave a log on what the update was and who made the update. I my opinion, there is room for a lot of things to go wrong from the client side of things rather than when the vote reaches the db. (user's downloading the wrong app, Man in the middle attack, etc etc ). Although inefficient and not as accessible as a mobile app for voting, paper ballots are the way to go for the time being, because tampering on paper ballots on a large scale requires a lot of coordination.

Anytime someone implies that the government has a room where people can pull up a live feed of your messages and posts is ridiculous and no debate should be had. If that were true Sneako wouldn’t be able to have these conversations and he would probably be brought in and regularly interrogated over his constant Nazi speak.

The entire conversation on that matter can be pretty much summed up into if you believe in the existence of a “deep state” or not. And I think it’s pretty naive to think that the president is deep at all. I think it’s ridiculous to claim that any individual has an effect on the outcome of any political race when there’s a perpetual majority that will be captured by manufactured consent. Consent you will never have any control in qualifying because that consent was paid for with amounts of money 99.999999% will never see let alone control. It’s obviously more complex, dynamic, and contextual but for instance, the federal reserve is much more of a global mover than any president both domestically and globally. Fintech is such a vastly underreported and misunderstood global phenomena with extremely far reaching consequences, which IMO is by design. Like yeah let’s just overlook the fact that the greatest transfer of wealth in history happened during (and IMO a result of) Covid. Destiny’s comment on the increase of inflation being a result of stimulus is pretty dense when we’ve had media blackout regarding the trillions being given to a few centralized financial institutions through the repo market. Inflationary markets make assets king and that’s exactly what the majority of people don’t have. The vast majority of people have currency which has been continually stripped of its relative purchasing power every year since the conception of fractional reserve lending and corporate hand/ bailouts. No shot Squeezo or whatever tf buddies name is was going there with it but I don’t ever hear Destiny considering that angle when it’s arguably the single most important thing to bring up when discussing politics at both a domestic and global scale.

Destiny's patience in this is great. He recognized immediately that this was an education scenario and not an elimination. There were a few times where Sneako almost got walked to the end of the road successfully, but just had to retaliate performatively when he realized the sun was too bright. I hold nothing against him tho. Sure the overdramatic indignation, nihilism and pure ignorance (no offence) to the way the world works was funny/ cringey, but I can sense the very real frustration at feeling like shit is rigged and totally understand how a person could come to similar conclusions. @jean-philipperameau4220
@jean-philipperameau4220 Жыл бұрын
I agree with Destiny, but I do have to rant a little bit: I'm just not comfortable with allowing bureaucrats to decide what is "essential" business and what isn't "essential" business during the pandemic. There's too much corruption involved with allowing government bureaucrats make these kinds of policies. One point there. I feel some of lockdowns went way too far. Sure, you could make an argument for the beginning of the pandemic, but the bureaucracy in Washington continually shot itself in the foot and lost a lot of credibility as the days went out (as if they had much left). Continuously mixed messaging regarding safety protocols (under the guise that 'science changes', which is true, but the government bureaucrats abused that excuse to high heaven), originally disparaging people who wore masks in the beginning and then trying to say that they were saving 'supply' for nurses (instead of telling people to at least wear a homemade mask in the mean time if that was the case, be f*cking honest), lying about what the actual 'herd immunity' numbers would need to be, confusion from the FDA/CDC with different guidelines, forcing Americans to only choose from 3 vaccine companies and not allowing Americans more choice because of stupid FDA restrictions, constant hypocritical actions (rules for thee not for me) from members of government, trying to implement the OSHA mandate regarding vaccines, firing nurses for not taking the vaccine (you know, the nurses who were saving lives during the peak pandemic while the losers who cheered on their firing and supported it were sitting at home sipping their Starbucks), demanding that misinformation be simply 'shut down' instead of actually trying to address it, continuing school closures/shutdowns and forcing children to wear masks when there were already multiple studies showing that none of those measures helped much at all and probably made things a lot worse for children's emotional/psychological development, and a lot more. Also, across the Atlantic Ocean, let's talk about the tracking program in the UK that cost 30 billion pounds and was a complete failure and total waste of tax-payer money. It didn't accomplish what is was supposed to do at all. Sorry for not wanting to trust my government, they didn't earn my trust any step of the way. The government failed me every single step of the way. There will be NO accountability for the people who had wasted billions of tax-payer money and ruined so many people's lives. Yes, COVID destroyed, but so did government.

If you want to actually understand what he's trying to say when he says "you're white", he's referring to Destiny's perspective towards the US government as a white passing, successful, and decently treated individual relative to the perspective of a brown skinned latino from the hood. Replace "white" with "privileged" and it makes more sense. Undeniably Destiny has had more fundamentally greater material circumstances that developed him into who he is, and that compilation of experience with the state, political education, etc. provides him a level of faith and trust in the government that those marginalized and victimized by the State would obviously not have about that same entity. With that being said, we didn't get rights till a generation ago, and we are still heavily discriminated and exploited against, so its gonna take time for this mentality to be shed and class consciousness to develop.

For people complaining about Sneako, this is how a conversation goes with a normal person. If something has an emotional core or is a deep belief, you can't just go in and argue your way to that person changing that on the spot. If you expect to, you will become frustrated and probably take it out on that person (which they will remember more). If you're lucky (if), you will find someone who considers it and leaves it be for a while to contemplate the issue. Most people will repeat the argument for a bit and not really change their mind. However, the feeling of not having a good response has a deep impact and you've basically crowbarred that position a bit to loosen it. "Winning" a debate like this is not pointless, but it's not going to look like a win. If people fly all over the place during a single conversation, then you know they don't have deep opinions on the topic.

Sneako is like that well spoken argumentative guy in high school who is able to talk over and beat other kids in discussions who haven't questioned anything they're arguing about, while he's got some surface level understanding on some issues. This type of people are usually the smart person for dumb people especially if they're bombastic, loud, argumentative, and if they can posture their way into seeming right, because most people 1. dont have the skills to stand up to it and 2. dont question their own beliefs or how certain things work so they can't figure answers out on the spot. Its satisfying to see someone whose whole worldview doesn't instantly crumble upon being questioned and who actually knows his shit standing up to sneako, who then in turn, becomes the person whose worldview starts breaking down in real time. And then you see it. Defering to chat (who no shit is going to agree with you, they're your fucking chat), pivoting the topic, making jokes to calm down the conversation and redirect the focus from the discussion and looking bad. And then post stream all the insecurity comes out in forms of mocking, exaggerating positions, strawmaning. Glad this convo happened. I've been watching sneako for a while and this is always the way he came across to me. A smart person for dumb people. Hope you can have more and longer discussions with him, pressing him more to stick to a position until he yields instead of letting him jump around and not being forced to accept certain truths.

I felt the opposite about that analogy. There's probably a better one for this situation. Sneako's question was if he trusted any part of the system, or politician, and destiny's analogy doesn't work, as Destiny CAN list specific tires, engines, oils, and parts of a car that he trusts. However there are NOT politicians that he trusts because unlike them, parts of a car aren't slimy, POS, backstabbing, lying, components of a system.

@@supan00bFTW being able to name individuals you don’t trust is irrelevant to how the government functions. It’s just buying into identity politics that leads to the overarching government having the ability to slide through shady laws or corrupt dealings. If voting is based purely on the policies of a party then the majority of people will have their best interests represented and corruption gets punished.

Arguing politics with a guy that says the majority of the hood where he grew up doesn't vote and later proceeds to say government doesn't do anything for us in the hood is...a dead-end if I've ever seen one. I don't know if it's true that people in the hood vote less, but if that is in fact true they should 100% start voting more. He thinks of a vote in a very bizarre way as well, it's like doesn't understand what majority rules means and the fact that if you don't vote you give your opponent more ammo. Even if you *don't think voting is important* you should still do it. It's so fucking easy, just fucking do it. Do some minor research if you are not into politics and just pick something that lines up with your own beliefs.

I’m trying to imagine how his cell phone voting idea would work out in real life. It’s the middle of WW3, we get a text message, “Should we enforce a nationwide blackout to prevent city lights from creating targets? Should we ration beef and fuel to conserve resources?” “Lol no”

People in the hood don’t vote because they’re immediate life circumstances and environment dictate that they invest any energy that others would place into politics, into obtaining essentials and surviving.

The most fascinating thing in this conversations is the pause Sneako takes every time Destiny says something. It's like... he's taking it in, he's thinking about it a little but then he reverts back to these talking points that are his comfort, or he just dismisses it.

I work the elections in my province and I don't vote. I used to spoil my ballet but now I just don't. I'm literally in the building and I don't. Why? I legit just don't have any options I agree with. I'm just not happy with the people and parties running so I don't want to put my backing with anyone.
