This song brings back so much tower memories from the little I got to play. Sometimes, I reach the tower and there's not a single player around. My hunter sits down at the edge of beam next to the cargo unloader. It's almost Dawn and views from the tower are spectacular with city lights below. Then the song plays and suddenly there's a sense of profound tranquility.

@stealthhunter69982 жыл бұрын
@@legendofacriuswithornament2019 It’s not nostalgia. I am seriously pissed off constantly by that excuse to downplay someone’s very real opinion. Destiny 2 is just missing emotional ambient music like D1 had. That is why they feel “the magic is gone” in D2. Not because nolstalgia but because the towers music in D2 for example has a completely different philosophy to D1 tower music. Here’s an example. The songs from D1 that play in the tower are emotional ambient songs such as “the traveller, tranquility and the tower” these songs r emotional. D2 on the other hand uses some upbeat hero music instead with every season changing it (which is an awesome addition mind u). Anyway. D1 music says welcome home to a sacred place. While D2s tower music says hello hero’s of the tower. Because of that D2s tower makes players have less of a connection to it, while it’s music acknowledges that there are hero’s of the city present in D2s tower, D1s tower acknowledges that it’s a guardians home which is what made it more “magical” feeling. It’s completely 2 different types of music used as the underlying philosophy’s are different. Bungie have gone from making the tower feel homely to a place where hero’s are present.
@finleymorris042 жыл бұрын
@@legendofacriuswithornament2019 No. i do feel nostalgia for this track, but that’s not what I’m referring to. The quality of the sound, the themes, emotions and message it’s trying to convey. That’s the magic. That’s completely missing in Destiny 2. 99% of the music in Destiny 2 is just vapid noises to fill in the audio. In Destiny 1, at least they tried to make the music have meaning and in many places they succeeded, such as here.

i remember going way to the left or right of the tower to where those thin little ramp plates were where you could pull out the sit emote and just perch on the edge watching all the city lights glimmer and whirr, with the beautiful orb-traveller just piercing the sky like a comforting musket ball of protection, giving such an irreplaceable & ethereal bliss to the environment i didnt know i could be so allured by. I always wondered what roaming those streets on a misty midnight evening far down below would feel like - wondering about the lives of your protectors way up above at the tower and what monstrous lethal forces they were hunting to assure your safety. for how much shit Destiny was given for poor narrative, (and i wont necessarily disagree on that front), - the ambience, feel and flavour of *being* a hero - its what cements the happy memories of being a guardian in my mind.

Destiny 2 feels like an empty shell of what it once used to be. Most of the D2 playerbase never played the first game and only the true OG Destiny fans know the real feeling of Destiny's universe if you put a lot of insight into it. The lore of the first game was at it's peak. The feeling of the unknown, having your Guardian uncover the mysteries of The Collapse and finding out what the hell happened, the theories about what in god's fuck the Darkness was, and as if the near-extinction of all life on Earth wasn't horrifying enough, what remains of humanity gets caught in the middle of an inter-species advanced alien war, seeing all that is what made the first game shine despite some of its flaws. Marty O'Donnell's compositions always made you feel at ease and tranquil when your character was at The Tower, despite the horrors and dark secrets of the universe awaiting to be discovered. Mysterious and tragic; yet intriguing in a beautiful way.

Destiny 1 had a magic to it, I think everything in destiny 2 is great, I have so much fun with the game but I definitely miss the mystery of everything, the soundtrack, beyond light had an amazing soundtrack however it wasn’t mysterious and for lack of a better word tranquil, all of destiny 1’s tracks aren’t combat related and fast paced, some are just perfect songs to fall asleep to, that is why I like beyond lights soundtrack much more then the others in d2, for songs like reflection and deep stone lullaby
