When people aren't on the same page, I believe civility isn't necessary. Doesn't mean discussions will all devolve into violence.

The best part is when she said, “Canada has a similar electoral system… we are also a democratic republic.” As a Canadian Republican I internally screamed, “no you dumb b*tch we absolutely are not a republic.” (In case anyone is wondering being a Republican in Canada means something completely different than it does in the US). We are a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary democracy. WE DO NOT VOTE FOR OUT PRIME MINISTER! We vote for a party that selects a party leader who is the Prime Minister (which can, and has before, changed hands between elections). Our system is very different than the United States. No obviously in a democracy it's up to the people to decide who is qualified enough to do the job and there should be only minimal conditions for candidacy like being an adult, citizenship etc. or you might end in a system like ru where candidates are dismissed based on arbitrary technicalities.
@jamesw65719 күн бұрын
@cyberfunk3793 unfortunately, Trump winning is not representative of the entire country. More Americans didn't vote than voted combined for both parties. The fact that about 15 million Democrats stayed home and didn't vote at all really just says that the candidate the dem party chose was terrible. They were trying to move the ball too far forward instead of focusing on the threat. Trying to make a black Indian woman president during times like these is like trying to talk about what color you're going to paint the living room when your house is on fire lol. If Tim Walz or Josh Shapiro were running instead of Kamala, I have a good feeling they would have done a lot better. Unfortunately, a large portion of America is not ready for a woman president, never mind a black and Indian woman president. Biden should have backed out a lot earlier, there should have been a primary, and kamala, the chosen one that nobody chose, should not have just been forced upon us the way that she was. She was too far left, did not distinguish herself during her time as VP, and she did not articulate her policies or her stances very well, and a lot of people wondered where she stood on a lot of issues because she seemed like she was too scared to take a firm stance on anything.

@@MOLLOYALLOY Tone policing is the last refuge of those with no counterpoint or position. I’ve been glad to hear Destiny point out something I’ve had to say for years: If I’ve refuted my opposition’s point, any following pejorative isn’t an ad hominem fallacy, it’s just an insult on top of a valid argument. It’s also a good way to see if your opponent is capable of controlling themselves when poked or if they lose control. In this particular case it’s a good way to allow the opposition to showcase their own hypocrisy. If Destiny’s insults make you lose respect, I certainly hope you hold none for conservatives. Insults and disrespect for others is their entire platform and Trump’s whole identity at this point. And if you don’t think there are sides here, you are woefully ignorant. There are sides because the American Right has decided that it’s Them vs Everyone Else. You’re with them or you’re against them. They’ve told us who they are and I’ve chosen to take them at their word on that one. I know, because I grew up in the heart of this shit and was one for the first 25-30 years of my life before I started to deconstruct over the next 12-17 years after that. @@Direwolf1771 I lose respect for conservatives who insult but I hold progressives up to a higher standard. You have managed some mental gymnastics to persuade yourself it's alright when it isn't: it's just rude. When he repeated "BLM BLM BLM" over the top of that black woman it was just embarrassing. It's a shame because he is well informed and a good debater. He doesn't need to insult...it will turn off more than it attracts and is ultimately counter productive. @Direwolf17712 ай бұрын
@@MOLLOYALLOY I don’t think he describes himself as a progressive. And the BLM thing was quite bad, I agree. It’s rude, yes. No question. It just does not invalidate the argument on those grounds alone. And can have strategic reasons, if the tradeoff in audience reaction is worth it. That math is bad in this case, clearly. The Right does this all the time. “Owning the libs” is their favorite game. And “taking the high road” hasn’t really been working out great for the Dems on the presidential trail, so it’s nice to see conservatives getting what they dish out served back to them. And then they suddenly can’t take it. But, no. It isn’t nice. And it’s rude. And sometimes he’s kinda cringe about it, yeah.

January 6th was obviously well orchestrated, these people came prepared, hence why many of them are now in jail, even some who weren’t present because they were a part of the planning. @@c.karnstein3299So during Trump’s 2016-2020 presidency, a good number of Supreme Court judges retired. Trump personally appointed the next few Supreme Court judges to fill up those vacant spots, all obviously heavily biased towards him. Recently the Supreme Court ruled in favor of presidents possessing criminal immunity after Trump begged for it in response to what he did in the 2020-2021 election. Now why Trump wasn’t charged before then for it? That’s a good question. It could be because of his wealth, and the connections he holds within government with a lot of people who are biased towards him and would break the constitution for him. It could be the fact that this was not public knowledge as most major media failed to provide this information to the public, conservatives/republicans do not care, and nobody wants to know anything about electoral votes. Collecting the proper evidence for a case like this against Trump could have been hard, and maybe they had evidence that made the court 97% certain of a guilty verdict but not 99%, or beyond a reasonable doubt. It is probably all of these things and more combined.

I sympathize with Destiny being so angry when he does much research for then people like this who don’t know anything to then proceed to defend the indefensible.
@loriwilliams55386 ай бұрын
The problem is destiny either didn't really research and only listen to talking points from the left, or he's straight-up lied. I challenge one prog to show me one instance where Trump called for violence. Or where he encouraged people to break into the Capitol building and act like retards. You won't find it because it didn't happen. Over and over Trump said to protest peacefully. And protest is legal. Peaceful protest Destiny doesn't seem to know why there wasn't enough security at the Capitol building. If he had done any listening and any real research, he would have known that Trump had asked that the national guard be deployed to the Capitol. And both the DC mayor and Nancy pelosi rejected that idea wholesale A man who is planning an insurrection doesn't ask for more security But I don't think truth and facts are what you people are after. Including destiny who wants to be an influencer and wants to be seen as logical, but he lies all the time about the facts if they don't suit his narrative It seems that destiny's research is limited to tapping on his keyboard while he's on camera looking for information to prove his points, rather than information to find truth. And that is weak if the image you want to project is that of somebody who can be trusted and is a reasonable voice in a sea of Hysteria and lies
