My job feels like it has a purpose, which makes me satisfied in my work, and it is always a good challenge, so I am never bored. I dont work any overtime, my benefits are good, and it funds all my hobbies, including traveling :)

I dropped maths (bc I had English and Biology as my majors), so never got around to learned matrizes. Good to see it's still just numbers, with their handling going from "okay, ez" to "weird" all the way to "BUT WHY, THO?".

I'm finally starting college 6 years after i graduated high school and I know that bc of my HS transcripts I have to redo my high school math courses(thanks Mr teacher for not putting a proper letter grade and screwing me over in my future). These were great refreshers. Especially now that my brain can actually grasp the concepts as compared to my 16 yr old brain.

idk if you would see this but I just wanted to point out a fact I'm doing economics and during my mathematic course we were taught to use Sarrus for the 3x3 matrix while doing the determinant not laplace (the one you're using) idk if it's for the different major or for the different professor but I just wanted to point it out! love your vid btw you're great and this kind of videos are really relaxing

So how does calculating the determinant change as you increase the matrix size. Let me guess, to solve for 4x4 you have to do the alternating signs thing then block off the row and columns to get a 3x3 matrix then do the calculation for a 2x2 matrix until you inevitably acquire the determinant? Idk the answer I’m just asking is this how it works as the matrix’s size increases, I’m curious to know how they solve for infinitely larger matrices.

Maybe you could do a video on eigenvalues, eigenvectors and the Jordan canonical form. That would be great. Personally I could calculate with them but was never really able to understand what exactly eigenvalues represent in an abstract way, perhaps you have an explanation.

I'm absolutely terrible at math, I failed so badly many times in school...I think my critical thinking is so inept, I literally feel mentally defective... But this I understood like clock work.

i feel that way about english and science. i think for me math is just so black & white you know. like theres only one right way to do things so for me thats easier. im so glad you were able to understand this! sometimes you just need to be taught a certain way. its not necessarily a you thing :)

Math major here: you should absolutely not feel mentally stupid if you don't understand Math or some Math concepts. It has to do with one kind of intelligence but not most of them. Also, you can be good at critical thinking without being good at Math. (Some philosophy professionals may not like or be good at Math but they are definitely far away from having an inept critical thinking). Everyone can learn this with enough attention and patience.
