9:07 why indeed. I first got into MTG back in 1995 and while I'm enjoying messing around with it again, the feeling of too much power creep keeps nagging at me. But I also wonder if that's just me being an old fart. So I'm glad someone who started playing in 2018 is also asking these questions. Thing is, I'm not sure there's any way back from it at this point.

There's definitely a way back, but it's going to require waiting out a full rotation with a bunch of "underpowered" sets. No way the powers the be over at Hasbro will stand for Wizard's taking that path, even if they had desire to.

If they do that, then all of the higher power formats are essentially never getting a new card, and that is never happening. They can fix standard, but no one plays it in paper anymore​@@dcash054

@@dcash054 If we're just viewing mtg through the standard format lens, then sure they could do that. The problem is there's all the other non-rotating formats where all these cards will still exist within. And I doubt WOTC wants to create a situation where the only people that care about buying new cards are the people that play exclusively within standard (and I guess alchemy now). I'm sure they want, and possibly even need (not sure what their profit margins are these days on the physical cards) all mtg players to have an interest in purchasing cards from new sets. And so then that forces them to have to print cards that are at least as powerful as the older sets, which suffered from power creep. And that's why I'm not sure there's any way to undo it. I mean they can easily create a standard environment with whatever power level they want. The problem is I don't know if they'll ever want to/be able to create a standard environment that can actually ignore the power dynamic in the other formats.

I thought about exiling manifested threads and Growing Dread with Temporal Lockdown and than bounce or remove Lockdown to manigest for each Growing Dread. Love the way this build has evolved over the last couple sets, especially how it gets enhanced with Duskmourn using uncommons. Still the most fun is having 3 pixies down with an opponent with no board and an empty hand. Also, thank you for including a solid sideboard!

Recently built a Fae Blade deck, but much different. Mine uses Overlord of the Balemurk to recur pixies, Nettle Guard, and Liliana. Add in Cut Down for stupid red deck, Dust Animus for its versatility, and Pyrexian Missionary to get back the overlord or anything else you might need. It can kill as fast as turn 5 while grinding through longer games like a champ.

Ally: "That would be a serious feels bad." Creator: "True, we'd probably need hexproof or something." Ally: "People hate hexproof, maybe a decent ward would be fine." Creator : "We may have something here - send it." Development Review: (tldr) Lead : "With right flavor people are liking this aura, it can really help finish a game." Ally: "Still pretty vulnerable though, we should bump the ward up to two." Lead: "Done." ... Lead: "Director says we do need a top tier new aura and SbG is a candidate." Ally: "What if we change it to +1/+0 and lifelink. It'll work good with the first strike and flying that is often going on in this deck. It can really swing a tight game." Lead : "Yeah, that's pretty sexy. But we should also make it two mana." Ally: "Wait, what?!" ... Have a cupcake day. : )

I feel like the temporary lockdown pixie utility is pretty interesting as main deck or lilliana always a threat. I've been doing well with it, but I run 4 Ethereal Armor and 4 Fear of Lost Teeth for a lower curve, and Enduring Innocence instead of Braids for sustain and a nice lifegain creature to pump

Try to play to 3-4 wins each day, do your rewards and use the coins to play quick drafts - quickest way to accumulate cards. I've done this across 2 accounts for a while and can build up wildcards to craft different decks.
