I was there that day, Jenson went out on a damp track when he set his fastest time. Plus the demo Pirelli's are as hard as concrete too, which didn't help his lap time one bit. What was cool though was earlier in the morning watching Jenson with his father John in the passenger seat drive the wheels off a AMG Benz around the track as he was learning it. Met John later in the day and he was an awesome bloke.

I remember when Jenson did this and beforehand in theory it was believed that the F1 could do 1.38 at Bathurst. But when it came time to do his laps, there were a couple of problems. the gear ratios were set up for Albert Park and because of the camber that Mt Panorama had, the bottom of the car was scraping on the road. Also Jenson said that was the first time that he had ever driven around Mt Panorama and how unique it is, it would take him a fair few laps before really understood how to drive around the track. What is remarkable on that day was Craig Lowndes was only 1 second slower. Considering that was the first time driving an F1 car and it had been years since he had been in an open wheeler. Admittedly Craig knows the circuit quite well which would have been an advantage, still that shows just how good a driver Craig is. A shame he was not able to showcase his skills on the world stage.

Fun fact: the main straight going down the track is called Conrod straight, back in the old days they didn't even have "The Chase" as apart of it (the sweeping left right corner after the right hand bend, it was just one giant long straight they changed it after numerous high speed deaths, the name came from the cars throwing conrods from pushing down the straight to hard.

I sense a hint of jealousy in you because of the money he earns.

TheChosenOne Please stop fanboying. I love jimmer, but saying that recording and editing is that hard is complete bullshit. Jimmer DOES have an easier job than basically any damn labour job. I dont know why people have the misconception that recording and editing and doing youtube is like the hardest thing ever, and anyone who does it deserves the (generally for bigger youtubers) the fuckton of cash they get. Jimmy deserves the money he gets though because racing for as long as he does takes a LOT of concentration/effort and skill. It must really be so fucking tiring. But im sorry to say, at least in 90% of cases, youtube is WAY easier than the vast majority of "real" jobs that are out there. Also, of fucking course some people are jelous, because who WOULDN'T want to have his job lol. I worked as a mechanic, and yea, im real damn jelous that jimmy can sit at home, has a supportive community ready for him, and that he gets as much money as he does while I sweat my ass off under a civic while some random costumer yells "hey, that 16 year old rad wasn't leaking before I came here.
