Regarding the soft tyre being used on the 2019 car - I was actually using the ultra soft compound, but for whatever reason the graphical version was the soft tyre.

You're to "fair" on the chicanes. Even the best driver will take any 100th of a second available. Take it from a V-Rally 1 and TOCA lover. 😉

it's mostly the steering lock or the lack thereof that held the modern cars back. WIthout that I think the modern cars would be better. There's no need for them to have that extra lock in modern circuits.

@@Shadow1986 also if you look at Jimmy split times, you can see how he was -12s on the Red bull 2019, then after his mistake his time went up to -8s and he finished the lap with -10s. He could've gone 2 seconds quicker in the 2019 car judging by his own split sectors alone. He was faster than the "race lap" time of 1:14. The 1:10 was out of question.

@@redbarred13 that's not entirely true. Ferrari knew exactly what was going on. The F2004 was an evolution of the F2002, not the F2003. Ferrari had a magnificent team full of top people at their prime. This isn't a coincidence, it's science. Everyone would have been WC on that 2002 and that 2004 cars. That's how much close to perfection they were.

It depends on how you want to see the evolution. Do you want the “Temple of Speed” version, or a version showing how cornering has evolved, or both? In terms of F1, I would think we would have to switch up teams a tad to cover different eras.

Adrian Newey IS the engineer. He has a PhD in aerospace engineering as do all of the other engineers on other teams since it's a requirement for the job. Adrian also draw the whole car, as all of them do as well. Adrian is just better. But it wasn't always like this. He designed some awful cars in the 80's and then rise up to glory in the 90's at Williams.

In real life the F2004 with Schumacher did a lap record of 1:14.439 in the race. Trulli in the Renault did a Qualifying lap of 1:13.985. A 1:14.014 is the absolute fastest the Ferrari went in final practice by Michael Schumacher. Because they changed the barrier a bit next corner after the swimming chicane the lap record had to be reset. Kinda annoying considering it’s a slight adjustment but hey.

Senna was so good as using these cars because of the turbo. He would effectively keep a little power on when braking so the turbo kept spinning faster than the others and have massive boost out of the corners. Absolute genius!

This version of the track is going to be slower no matter what because it still has the sharper version of the corner on the back side of the swimming pool. That corner is much more rounded off now, and I'm fairly certain both of the times you're using as comparison are with that corner cut.

At Ferrari racing days, several customers use these F1 V10s with slicks, and they are even faster than the times of professional drivers at the time !! Even though they are only amateurs, the difference in slick tires from the last few years is absurd, they are several seconds faster per lap, I wanted to see a real comparison of an F1 2019 against an F1 2002 with the same tires!

I tried to beat your average lap time on the Nürburgring GP circuit on GT3 (on a ACC race you streamed recently), and got nowhere near it, with the same car. (Not the same game, I tried it on PC2, but the track and setup can't be that far off each other) I may be a noob overall when it comes to Sim Racing, but still... The difference is humongous. Seeing you Heel & Toe with the Lotus 98T makes me miss using my wheel and pedals. That car is a blast to drive with that combo, I used to think I would never even come close to mastering that technique but I managed to somehow come to grips with it very quickly. Even did races with other people and just shocked myself as how quick I was. Great driving as always, especially with the worlds biggest Fast Forward Button.

The funny thing is: during the season after the 919 Evo set it's record in Spa, F1 obliterated that time again and reclaimed their status as fastest Race cars out there. Although the up to date F1 cars are this bloody fast, that speed doesn't come as natural as with the 2004 cars. At least from what I can gather from sims. I recon the weight does play an important role as well as things like DRS and ERS deployment, which makes the annual cars very special in that regard.

that's because no one could actually drive it, you'd probably need to wear a g suit like a fighter pilot just to not pass out (it might also twist your neck off) and a crash at the speeds this could achieve no matter how safe the car is is most likely fatal. A really fun concept though

@@jiujitsumonkey1 Acrobatic aircraft pull upwards of 13G with a pilot wearing a baseball cap. Sustained G will have you, temporary will not necessarily. I suspect the main reason is similar, though not as dramatic. Going round a corner at that speed would hurt. Moreover, I suspect we haven't got the tyre technology to keep it safe. However, it'd still be interesting to see, even if no-one could drive it 10/10ths.

Your last comment is super interesting because when the RSS F2019 came out, I had the distinct feeling that around some corners that car was X2010 fast. And I think that is true. The 2019 Formula 1 cars are insane. Really curious to see what the 2021 cars will bring. Ground Effect is a cheaper way to get grip so let's see.

Just for a little bit of perspective. In 1987, when Ayrton Senna won the Monaco Grand Prix in the Lotus w/Camel livery, the top qualifying lap was 1:23.039 by Nigel Mansell and the fastest lap in the race was Senna at 1:27.685 on lap 72, so Jimmer's 1:25.8 on the Lotus is very respectable.

I picked the Lotus the other day to play. It's cool learning about the history of it and how drastically different the performance is now. It is an absolute ripper of a car and very fun to drive.
