Thanks for the info. Me and a fellow commander I play with just finished unlocking all the guardian tech and built our kraits for this. Thanks again this was a great video and I shared it with my friend. Hopefully this weekend we'll start taking these things on o7.
@Exigeous6 жыл бұрын
I hope you'll reply back and let me know how it goes. It's definitely harder with shields - make sure you at least have military hull and that in your optionals you're using a single class 5 module reinforcement and the rest standard hull reinforcements. You should be able to get about 2k hull that way, if you go just shields you won't last long at all.
@MistaGeezy906 жыл бұрын
@@Exigeous I'll deff let you know how it goes. I'm running a grade 3 and 5 guardian hull reinforcements and a grade 3 module reinforcement along with military grade armour. My armor is at 1518. I forgot to mention I'm also running a 5A shield cell bank. Shield health is a little over 1000 but didn't finish engineering shields and boosters (ran out of materials.) I also put a class 6 fighter bay to help draw attention off of myself.
@Exigeous6 жыл бұрын
I'll admit that's a bit low for hull - if it were me I'd trade that cell bank for a hull reinforcement all day long - shields really aren't nearly as important as hull as you'll be taking hull damage through your shields anyway. I've soloed them in my DBS with no shields at all and 2400 hull - up to you but that's how I'd do it.
@MistaGeezy906 жыл бұрын

@Exigeous6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the 500 tons is a lot but if you're going to get into combat she's probably the most important engineer in the game. Between all the hulls I've engineered and all the reinforcements I probably have 25-30 modules I've engineered with her as I run a lot of bi-weave hull tank ships so it really is worth the time. If you have something big like a T9, Cutter or even Anaconda it really only takes a few hours - and with the new mining wing missions you can do it with a friend and actually make some money at it too.

@@Exigeous ... well, yes and no imo. What they've done, they've done to a very high standard, perhaps arguably set a 'new' standard. But I do find myself looking towards future supporting type gameplay that sees me out of the cockpit from time to time, interacting with characters and environments as part of a personal story arc that then gets me itching to get back 'into' the cockpit. The Thargoid combat narrative as an example looks great, but then I think of the sheer volumes of Launching/Jumping/Docking ... Launching/Jumping/Docking, acquiring what I need between then and now. i don't really get all the hate about grinding out the guardians/engineers etc. i mean i do, but i also understand there's a somewhat reason behind it. ED story and lore expand in real time, 4 years so far, with all these features being added over time. if it were quick to achieve the lore couldn't unfold at its current pace and boredom would set in. don't get me wrong the way the eng and guardian additions were initially introduced was a HUGE time sink but has been recitified. the log in and out at the anaconda sites do break the immersion though. i just think about how i played freelancer all those years ago with about a 20 hour campaign and after that it was about killing nomads in hope to get the nomad weapons, but then there was nothing to do, there was multiplayer but it wasn't all that expansive. that's why i enjoy the pace of elite dangerous and don't mind grinding out the new content.
@Exigeous6 жыл бұрын
While I agree that the grind gets a bit too much hate I think the problem for many of us is the absurdity of it. For example you mention the Guardian weapons - why do we have to unlock each variety, turret, fixed, gimbal of each type and each size. Meaning we have to redo the stupid puzzle over and over and over. That's where it gets absurd. I don't at all mind working for what I have, and think it's important to do so - but when it's just the same repetitive grind that's where it breaks down. I've now done the Guardian ruin puzzle 64 times between my 2 accounts and I only have the fixed varieties unlocked. And I've probably done 1000 laps around Dav's Hope, easily.
@xnotAdamx6 жыл бұрын
@@Exigeous yes totally agree with the fixed and turret variety of guardian weapons. It is riduculous to have to unlock both types. I have personally only unlocked the fixed varieties as well, and yes! All the hot laps around davs hope too lol. I think if they added a mini campaign/mission unlock system for these modules both old and new may be a cool way to implement these and also give an added opportunity to add to the story. How it could be done effectively though im not sure.

I haven't earned enough credits to get one of the big 3 and engineer them to be combat capable, so I haven't attempted xeno fights yet. But as concise, informative, and detailed as your video is, I still feel as though I have a lot of grinding to do to even be able to qualify as "capable" of fighting one of these bad boys. It sounds exhilarating to be in such an intense battle, but the price of entry to such an experience is incredibly time-intensive. It's a shame the best parts of this game are locked behind a grind wall, unless you count an inevitable defeat encounter as an "experience".
@Exigeous6 жыл бұрын
While the Guardian weapons are very nice people have soloed them with standard AX weapons that you can just purchase and unengineered ships - it's just harder. So saying this is locked behind a grind wall isn't really far - no more so than any other part of the game. For example you can explore the galaxy with a stock Asp Explorer with a roughly 38 light year jump range but it's sure nicer fully engineered at 60 - but that doesn't mean it's locked.

So disclaimer - I haven't flown this build, I do have a T10 that I've used some and this is what I'd start with: s.orbis.zone/6w5 - some notes: - It's going to fly like a brick so FA-Off will be key - It's a high skill ship to use well, especially due to the cell bank - I did the turreted AX multi due to the wide hardpoints - The fixed gauss might not work well given the medium HP placement, you'll have to try and see - you may want 2 shield boosters and 4 heatsinks instead - You'll see for the other 4 hardpoints I did turreted efficient thermal vent beams to help bleed off as much heat as possible. There are many other options you could go with as the T10 doesn't run super hot If you do build/give this a try let me know - without engineering you'd run the same thing save for the turreted beam lasers - those are only for the thermal vent experimental so if you don't have that then go with something low heat like a multicannon, etc. and only use it on the Thargoid shields. Make sense?

Well I went for the Lance first as the gauss cannon is most effective against the hearts. That said the Javelin with the plasma auto cannon is pretty damn sweet and fun just to fire ;-)

As usual they make combat rewards and all the risk that goes into it a complete bloody joke by giving $2-10 million reward for surviving all that. While others are watching Netflix moving passengers earning 10’s of millions for little effort. FDEV suck

I have only ever killed scouts with my combat/trader anaconda, but i would like to know how viable it would be for me to convert an FDL into a thargoid killing machine.
@Neognostic-pk5wu3 жыл бұрын
FDL is a poor choice as it will require a lot of pip management. Some do use them as scout hunters though. For interceptors, you're better off with the Krait MK II or an Alliance gunship

So all in all how long does it take to get the stuff you need to kill a thargoids.

Do you need cargo space for the Thargoid heart? Or is it just a material item?

Plasma chargers aren't actually that useful because of their low armour piercing value and slow shot speed. Gauss cannons are by far the most effective AX weapon.
@Exigeous4 жыл бұрын
For taking down hearts I absolutely agree - the plasma chargers are however really good at dropping their shields in the event you just don't wait for them to drop. If I were only going to unlock one module though it would be the medium gauss cannons for sure.
@pukalo4 жыл бұрын
@@Exigeous definitely, but another very common tactic for more advanced AX pilots in taking out shields is to have a long range G5 thermal vent beam laser or two.
@Exigeous4 жыл бұрын
Oh sure, nothing wrong with that either - personally I really enjoy the plasma chargers AND a thermal vent beam as I just really like the visuals from them.

Well no better time to give it a try and learn, you have to do it for the first time sometime, right?? Remember it's a game so if you blow up you won't actually be injured in any way.

As the human plasma accelerators are doing absolute damage, could they be worth it for Thargoid fighting?
@Exigeous6 жыл бұрын
In short no. While they both do absolute damage that's not what you need against the Thargoids, AFAIK there isn't a specific damage type listed but only the Guardian or AX weapons do Xeno damage, save for against the Scouts.

Shame they lock these behind more grind walls. The game could use more Thargon-like enemies.
@Exigeous6 жыл бұрын
What grind wall? You do need a well built ship but it can be done with a $150M Chieftain without any engineering or unlocking of any additional weapons. Trust me, I hate the grind too but let's be fair - while engineering and the Guardian weapons make this much easier, especially solo, it's by no means required to go have some fun with a wing.
@acheron166 жыл бұрын
That's the issue: "with a wing." I play this exclusively solo. I bought the game when it was being sold as being capable of offline mode and was never interested in playing with others, no matter the upsides. It's just how I like my game. Without a wing it appears I have to get guardian stuff which I hear isn't easy.
@jackofallgods77646 жыл бұрын
all you need to do is be good at high waking. If you are are good at that then you can practice against a thargoid with little risk. Take a cheap ship that you dont care blows up and just try flying around avoiding its attacks and avoiding thargons and see the progression of your ship as you are destroyed so you can spot a good "time to get the f outta here' moment so you know how damaged you can get and still escape. After that just get a good hull medium ship or a fast medium ship and A rate it hull reinforce it and shield boost and shield bank it. Then play with the combinations of the ax weapons til you find what works for you. Yes they arent as good as the guardian weapons but honestly the first time i beat a thargoid my ship was so toasted from gaus cannon overheating because I just kept firing and firing not caring because i had to win that when i did win my modules were toast and i almost died flying into its caustic gas from its death cuz my ship was so frail. After that I fought another one with ax weapons instead to prevent me from going overboard and I was actually in better shape when i won. The thargoids arent grind locked really. They are a bit progression locked if youre solo because you need to buy a decent ship and a rate it but thats how it should be really. But you in no means need to grind or engineer. It just helps a lot. And also getting the gaus cannons alone shouldnt take more than an hour or so. But just try practicing and playing with the thargoids first. Its not impossible. Watch lots of videos too. IF someone can beat a thargoid with a imperial courier then you should be fine
@Exigeous6 жыл бұрын
Agreed, if you're just set on playing solo you can still do this without unlocking Engineers or the Guardian weapons - just know you may die or be prepared to high wake. All you need is something like a Krait or Vette/Conda built like I suggest just without the engineering. It'll be a little harder but saying it's locking behind a grind just isn't true.

some guy beat a medusa in a sidewinder and i cant beat a cyclops in my fully engineeded cutter lol fuck my life :(
@MrMagicRman3 жыл бұрын
you probably don't need this info anymore, but a cutter is a really bad option for thargoids! Cutter works best as a shield tank and you really want a hull tank for this. :)
