In my Marian consecration, we offer Mary *everything* including our prayers. So even if I want to pray for something specific, she's can take that prayer and put it towards something else. But she always gives us the best in return.😇

For a few years in the early thru mid 00's, I was on satellite radio for 12 hours a day, 6 a to 6 p, had to know everything, had to inform everyone; the knowing was a long standing/trauma/defense/trust mechanism; informing, from the same root, but from the spiritual perspective thought I had to be that Noah, that Jeremiah. I struggle with guilt of feeling gnostic, I see and know stuff and others just don't see it. The lunacy of 2020 got me off FB, then I spent inordinate amounts of time on Twitter and was led off of that. TV/old movies was my rest during my major depressive episode, and subsequent ones, so weening off of that because it is a near occasion of sin, as is now discerning YT content, striving for only spiritual. The 10 hour Gregorian Chant channel is usually on. I offer up hearing my husband on YT for all sorts of stuff and I hear it in the background. Thank you for reminder about ok not praying for specifics, I think I'm not doing my job if it's not specific.

There is some basic level of news that is practical and helpful. It was the news of Herod that had Joseph and Mary flee. It was news of the census that had Joseph and Mary go to Bethlehem. It was news of Lazarus' death that moved Jesus to go to him and raise him. There is some news that keeps us informed as to necessary action at times. But I agree that 24/7 immersion in news is dangerous and harmful

Turn off the screen. Read a book that will nourish your soul instead. Say the Holy Rosary. Pray for the Holy Souls suffering at that precise moment. Maybe just one short prayer would release the soul nearest Heaven. Pray for souls dying, say, in an accident or heart attack right now.

I find it very funny that the vast majority of Catholics usually speak dismissively or rudely about Buddhism, and then go on to describe exactly the same doctrine, using different words. The works of my beloved Saint John of the Cross echo the words of the Buddha almost to the letter. It's a shame that even people with some degree of awakening/sanctity can't see that for simple lack of information.
