I have suffered with anxiety for 30 years off and on. Last night was the first time I started to experience these thoughts. Extremely scary. The odd thing is they appeared just as I am starting to get better control of my physical symptoms. Anxiety is so powerful it seems like it shifted its attach method on me. Anyone else experience that when you start to get some control over one symptom set that a completely different set of symptoms appear?

You have been programmed for a very long time to make anxiety a part of your life, when you start to diminish the anxiety you create more anxiety because something is missing. Even though it’s a good missing, your mind and body are fearing the unknown ( control and peace ) this is why it’s so crucial to work on these things so early in life so they do not become us and we do not become dependent on them. Many of us don’t get the opportunity until later in life. Hope you’re doing well , one year after you posted this.

Very important topic and a good one, one of the Big mistakes we make during this process is thinking that thoughts are the problem which arent, the problem is the sensibilitation of the amigdala and the overreaction we have to that thought, the difference between people Who get stucked in any kind of mental process and those Who dont is the emotional reactivness to thinking paterns. This video helps a lot to understand how the anxiety play tricks on us and as shaan said make us believe that kind of thoughts or worryings are real which arent, thats why i dont agree with the exposure industry , is not smart to be fighting irrational fears before the anxiety we didnt have, because the nature of the anxiety is going to be creating more problems. And is not solved by the root of this nerve over sensitization

Man you’ve been so on point with your videos! I had mild anxiety in my 20s, but nothing debilitating. But in January, I had a full blown panic attack traveling. It triggered all types of physical symptoms, and insomnia for the last 8 months. Recently I excepted the facts that it’s just anxiety, stopped googling symptoms and started working out daily, to burn that adrenaline. My physical symptoms have calmed down greatly, I just have these lingering thoughts of “what if” I loose control or my mind one day. Just knowing how anxiety and your body works takes so much power away from anxiety. Thank you so much for you work and videos Shaan!!

Good God, thank you for this video! I've tried playing horror games a few times. But the mental tension was so high and unbearable that I wanted to scream. I am not able to play such games. Then I realized that if the tension during playing increases so much that I want to scream - it means that in a normal situation I have to have a constant high level of tension, but I don't feel it because I'm used to it. Apparently I usually have a high "base" tension. Sometimes I have thoughts of stabbing someone in the family. But now I'm also having thoughts that are cruel, disgusting. I was appalled 🥺 So apparently the mental tension jumps, adrenaline is released and these thoughts appear. It's something physiological. Thank you, it's so helpful!!!

I'm so used to brushing off my symptoms as just anxiety that I actually suffered with gal bladder pain for the last 5 months. It was excrusiating. The first ER scan they missed it so here I am trying to convince my brain it's just anxiety, thinking I'm just being my normal overly sensitive self. I'm thankful that my GP convinced me to have another scan that caught it. I'm thankful to have gotten it out yesterday but now the what if question will never be the same. Lol. Now my brain is like see... I TOLD you something was majorly wrong and you didn't listen. Now I'm really going to have to work on it because I had it convinced before it was not helpful.

I have ptsd and anxiety disorder since age 12. I more recently the last 3 months have been sick with a terrible head cold. Then i accidently burned my leg with cooking oil then the next month i became constipated. All these things seriously stressed me out. I went to the hospital twice thinking i was having a heart attack but the ekg and blood work said otherwise. After laying there for 5 hours i felt fine. The reason i went to the hospital was cause i woke up with a racing heart my heart rate was 149 bpm. No pain no dizziness. But i surely panicked. Now i believe it was adrenaline my body was burning off after 3 months of serious stress and anxiety.

I don't get panic attacks but get anxiety attacks in winter so this yr after leaving med I did the thing that is to feel the anxiety means intentionally looking on earth feeling what I am feeling stop smiling be in my mood in my mind for 7 months I some how managed it but when you are having attacks this doesn't work attacks should be dealt with benzodiazipines and ssri in accordance to your health care professional . Remember one this you can do in attacks is to feel the attack acceptance actually means feel that it's happening right now to me in this room at this time but it's very hard in case of anxiety or panic attacks so try your best you can do it . Problem with anxiety is that it works not same with all people some just need CBT and some medication best treat is combined CBT+medication+acceptance of feelings (desensitization)

Does anxiety make you feel like your brain will shut down and you may not be able to perform basic actions too? Does it feel blocked and cannot think or process information or resgister the same when reading or talking to someone? Its like you feel so blocked in your head you cant even organise your throughts or think or form sentences if you for instance have to write a message or email. Is this a symptom of anxiety too along with constant muscle contraction throughout the body? And sometimes you out of no whee breathe fast and burst out crying?

Had it like some few days ago and something little left yesterday. With all you saying… yes this is also reaction of stress hormones because of high levels of anxiety. Just let it be for what it is, dont be scared (i know this is easy to say and you may hate it) but i learned this from what my mom told me and from all these videos from shaan, just accept it and train each day for every symtom to accept it and learn to NOT BE SCARED, and with time it will dissapear belive me it is true! It Will burn down of itself, just how it came it Will also dissapear. Watch more of shaans videos and you Will learn alot and there are more videos from a Chanel also called Depersonalization Manual a Guy talking about similar things. And my advise what helped me alot, is to listen and Watch alot of these videos and then with time start slowly Watch less and less so you dont end up in cycle of being trapped by this, or you Will never end with your symptoms. Just make what feels good and best for you of taking help of these manual in Shaans Channel just as you want. I answered because i know it feels terrible to wanting to know something and not get answer but he has alot of questions, sometimes i ask something also but cannot every time get answers. Hope you read this and may feel better now🫶🏽

The only way out is through it my friend no other way, there is no managing. Does the percentage of scary thought grow higher once you grow out of the fear? Or. Does the percentage stay the same?

I’m dealing with intrusive homosexual thoughts and images sometimes they cause worry ness. just a lot of emotional distress.. and this intrusive feelings I get internally cause a lot of emotionally distress as well.. SO-OCD to be exactly is what I’m dealing with there’s this thing that keeps happening in public when I’m around guys.. these unwanted sensations and urge to smile. I have NO idea why I can’t even tell you why this happens this can be and old man in his 60s to someone in their 20s this impulse does not go away. It causes so much distress and which initially caused my SO-OCD this happens 3 months ago at work ! And started to question why it happen and what it meant.. till this day I have zero understanding why it happens I just no that I hate it so much ! Cus idgaf about another dude I walk pass by so this kills me alot that this happens out of my control literally.

@@socallednj4682 the “how are you now” always makes me laugh I see that all the time when it comes to this.. but to answer your question same struggle , new day. But I’m staying strong. You aren’t your thoughts and they don’t define who you are or say nothing about you. Not one bit. Keep your head up.

Stop answer your thoughts, let it pass by, and most of all accept and dont be afraid of the thoughts and it Will dissapear. Worked great for me. Im also Heterosexual and know it feels awful but these thoughts are typical OCD and is nothing to be ashamed of or scared. Its just fear and stress levels at the same time. Thats what you get those thoughts👌
