Nice turnaround , she didn’t half give you some pad issues but so worth it in the end, great video

Cheers dude. It's all that oxidised paint. Blowing it out would help but I can't fit a compressor in the van at the moment....I'm eyeing up the Lake Country Pad Washer, as it'll stack inside my wash buckets.

You are not wrong! The timelapse base footage is sped up even further here, I think the bass footage was about half an hour without being tweaked, but when I was watching it back it felt like it was quite boring, maybe I was wrong there. I'm not Jim White though, I don't think I should be drifting in to the long form stuff yet (although if I was in a studio in think I easily could).

It did come out great in the end didn't it? Funny thing is that if this was on a clear coated car it would have taken half the time and two pads big pads for the whole thing!

Thank you. This was one of those ones that you just enjoy working on. This was the poster car when I was younger so it feels like a treat. That MK2 GTi lurking in the background is something I'd love to get my hands on, I'd do that for free!

Thank you, when I was watching the footage back I was amazed at how bright it looked at the end, it got to see the whole thing change where that's hard to appreciate at the panel.

I have a red a3..isn't oxidised.. just swirls and a tiny tiny bit of fading difference.. how long does the BH CP last with a good ceramic wax on top? Great work mate
@SuperchargedLlama2 жыл бұрын
That's a good question, it'll be that annoying 3-6 months sort of range of an answer I suspect. It's heavily dependent on conditions and where the car is kept (garage/car port or driveway/street) for example. I reckon you'd get 6 months in spring/summer, a couple less over the winter....but here's the thing. The relative benefits of the cleanser polish may last as long as you can keep the LSP in good shape, so if you reapplied every 2-3 months then you'd probably keep the benefit. This is partly why I use Nova Lustre over the top as it's got good durability and it fills too. It bonds reasonably well with CP too actually, so whilst you won't get the 6 potential months you'd get from a bare paint application, you do get 4ish.

Thanks for the quick reply! I'd be happy with 3 months! Most people say it only lasts a few washes.. but that's great. Thanks mate

The red is definitely popping mate 😎 The BH cleanser polish is fantastic. My go to polish 👍 Never tried fusso over it tho, would that work?
@SuperchargedLlama2 жыл бұрын
I think Fusso works over everything so you'd be well sorted there. I love these Nova products though, and one of the key things the owner wanted was UV protection, which these two products Lustre and Jet are some of the best out there, given the ease of application.

So you used 3 pads for this job?? if you were using the cleanser polish,would you not use all them as its more of a "glaze" type product rather than the scholl s20 or poorboys which were probably the culprits for your pads ending up red?? thanks for the vid
@SuperchargedLlama2 жыл бұрын
You'd think that but actually the Cleanser Polish was removing a fair bit of oxidisation themselves (it does have some abrasives in it, adding in the Yellow pad in to the effect, there's a certain amount of cut in there). Even if you were using a finishing pad on clear coat you should still wash the pad out as you'll be picking up some rubbish off the paint, which could then cause marring. I've now got the Lake Country Pad Washer so washing out the one pad is super easy.
@Nagfan092 жыл бұрын
@@SuperchargedLlama Ah ok...I only found your vid researching this (subbed btw) but I would prob freak out if I seen any paint on the pad lol...I thought that was an indication you may be running through the clear coat low I guess not...turned out great all the same for an older car,I prefer the older ones!
@SuperchargedLlama2 жыл бұрын
@@Nagfan09 yeah I can see why you'd think that, and in a way you'd be right to. If you were on a finishing pad you still may get some colour transfer from a single stage....but a lot less, and that again assumes it was oxidised. This was oxidised as it was single stage you see, there's very few paints trust will oxidise when clear coated; honda have a red that fades a lot but is actually clear coated - it's most prevalent on the original shape Jazz. I have to say that cleanser polish is one of my favourite products to use when it comes to brightening up a car without going down the full correction route.
@Nagfan092 жыл бұрын
@@SuperchargedLlama Yea i'll own up and I actually use cleanser polish but only by hand so bought a dual action to speed up the process as such and eventually will move onto full on polishing. I am a bit of a bilt hamber fanboy to be honest,have used the autofoam and autowash,autowheel,korrosol for years but never used the machine polisher hence how I found your vid. Anyway goodluck and keep up the great content.
@SuperchargedLlama2 жыл бұрын
@@Nagfan09 you'll be very happy with the results you get by machine, it's a huge improvement, even on a finishing pad I think you send up with a more uniform result. Apex Detailing has a great video of Cleanser Polish on another classic, a DeSotto or something - he does a great job explaining it. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment (and sub!), enjoy your polishing 👌
