@@solomonkane1712 as someone who works for a company that has a ceramic product sold through dealerships, I'd recommend not waxing it. Everything a wax does, your ceramic "should," do better. I can't speak to the quality of your coating, but theoretically waxing a ceramic coating is practically redundant, as they do the same things except a ceramic lasts muchhhh longer.

Finally someone did a video about ceramic coatings and wax, I personally don’t like ceramic coatings that’s my opinion, never repalce the warm look of the wax to me ceramic coatings are just a second hard clear coat that is impressively Hydrophobic buts thats all , waxes on this days are much more durable than years ago not mention the great amount of shine , I was told that ceramic coatings doesn’t hold up the wax and its not true based on the video you show up here thanks for the info Not a big fan of ceramic anyways

Ceramic coating will last years. So a year after you put ceramic you can clean the surface/cay it and add a carnauba wax if you like that warm glow. Like he said the water will react to the wax and not bead as well. If you still want the ceramic properties I Would recommend adams graphene boost to enhance the shine and water beading.

I started waxing my coated black car in the fall because of the water spot that appear due to cooler weather. I've found that I don't have 24hrs for a maintenance coat to fuller cure before dew forms overnight. Wax doesn't really have a cure time thus moisture from the cooler notes don't leave those annoying spots.

ive waxed overtop ceramic coatings for the filler properties to gain that extra depth just before car season starts and usually by august, all of it has worn off. its a good band aid before needing a cut and polish for marring/micro scratches. during late summer and fall i apply a ceramic based wax that doesnt have the filler properties just to do the life extension thing. usually by spring thats worn off as well. its a perfect cycle but for most folk, there really is no reason to wax. even the ones from touchless washes. good ceramic just makes everything slide off with water pressure alone. Wax on a car with coating is pretty much subcultured itself to niche things like being colour tinted, adding depth/enhancing gloss, some folk prefer the look of water beading over sheeting, etc, etc. It's a personal choice to wax a coated car

It takes synthetic products applied by hand rather than an aio. I had excellent results with meguiar's ultimate fast finish and meguiar's paint protect on ceramic!. However, whether meguiar's fast finish or meguiar's paint protect, they are not extremely hydrophobic as a stand-alone protection, but on a Ceramic they are excellent. On a Ceramic (xml ceramic & Graphene Coating) which is not extremely hydrophobic either but more in the order of sheeting, and dividing a panel into three parts (Ceramic / ceramic + uff / ceramic + pp365), the two areas with uff and pp365 were super hydrophobic! Much, much more than ceramic alone. And even by spraying with apc and super degreaser it held up very well. "Synthetic" toppers stick better to ceramic than carnauba. Regarding waxes on ceramics, I would tend to say that a Sealant would be better and without abrasive like meguiar's M26 hi-tech yellow wax

New subscriber. Great vid! 👍🏻 Would love your tips on rejuvenating a ceramic coating as we come out of winter and into spring.
@as6807832 жыл бұрын
Hi Kyle. Just want to help by giving you my method. I'm in the UK and coatings get a real battering over the winter period from road-gritting. We have all sorts of sand, minerals, salt, dirt and grease that can really affect a ceramic coating's performance, especially around the front-end, lower panels, and fenders. I basically, start with a TFR soak and rinse to remove superficial layers of muck. Then it's onto a snowfoam soak for 5-10 minutes and then rinse. Next is a contact wash-and-rinse with PH nuetral to slightly alkaline (no more than pH 10) shampoo to remove that final film of grime and grease. Sometimes, that can be enough to revive the coating, but not always. So, while the vehicle is still wet after rinsing I'll apply a fallout remover and tar remover to the front end, doors, and arches and let it dwell until it reacts. You can use a very damp mitt to spread the solutions around the panel if you wish. Rinse off thoroughly. If the coating is still inactive in part or whole, I'll finally go over the problem areas with a mild or regular clay and lubricant in order to remove any clogging in the pores of the coating. Usually, these steps would properly reinvigorate a coating. If the coating is still failing then I'd redo the shampoo and decon stage and assess. If it is still dead then I'd surmise that the coating has probably failed in inactive areas.

I use the same TW ceramic spray product. Brilliant value for about £13.00 for 450ml. The gloss and hydrophobic reaction of TW is very similar to a coating, but the dedicated coating is thicker, more durable, and lasts from a year to nine years, depending on what you go for. Here in the UK, I find I have to reapply the ceramic spray every time I wash the car. For dedicate coatings I use Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light, and Carpro CQuartz.UK V.03.

I understand that once you apply wax on top of your ceramic, you lose the beading properies of ceramic. But isn't the point of beading to remove water from your panels fast so it doesn't sit and cause damage to your panels? If I have ceramic coating already and the wax is not beading the water as much, what is the harm? The panels are coating with ceramic underneath anyway....I was thinking of wax to add that gloss and warmth and yet function as a sacrificial layer for subsequent car washes...

Hey Josh. I've been watching your video hoping it would resolve an issue I've been trying to fix ever since I got my sports car in 2017. The issue I'm trying to resolve has to do not with actual hard water spots, but just dirty water stains that I get after a rainfall. I want to start by letting you know I already have a coating on my car (Optimum Gloss-Caot) but it doesn't prevent this problem. Here's a little scenario: I just washed my car. Then a few hours later it starts raining but just a bit. Then the rain stops. Because of the coating I get beads right? So when they end up drying they create dirty water stains. This forces me to wash again (I usually will use a waterless wash product). This gets me quite upset. If only the water would just sheet off the panel instead of beading it would be amazing. Someone I know told me applying wax over my coating is a solution, but I remember that very same person telling me in the past that when you have a coating, one of its role is to push away everything, INCLUDING wax. So what's your opinion on this? Can wax really prevent dirty water stains? Or maybe another product on top of Gloss-Coat? Or just another coating completely? This gets me really frustrated so please help me out. Thanks! :-)

I use Meguiars ceramic bead booster(m799) as a topper after a traditional car wash over Carpro UK 3.0. It gives a real dark look to the paint and keeps the 13 month old coating working like new. The problem you're having is likely dust on the car before it rains and drying as water spots. Try a leaf blower to remove the water or drive the car before it dries on the paint to help with the amount of water drying on the car.

Help needed: I know this is old, but hopefully someone will see this and point me in the right direction. First thing, female here, thus I know as much as I am informed, meaning given I've been told several different things I just want a simple solution and plain and simple answers. So, got my car, out of the bat I had some issues wight the car dealer, it was perfect when I received it, by the first time I took it to be detailed, I was informed and shown that the paint had water damage, it had water stains all over, so went back to the car dealership because it was a new car and there was no way that coukd have happened in 2 weeks, they recognised the issue and took care of it, returning my car brand new and gorgeous. Next step: got ceramic coating done because I wanted to prevent what I saw can actually happen. Get to the place, is not cheap, do it and also get a clear plaxi I think it's called for my windshield. I had my car for less than a month when I found it scratch in the right side of the bumper, and the following week keyed, confronted the guy who I know did it, and yeah, FML. Anyway, take it to the same place to get an estimate and see what they can do, without having to involve my insurance company, it's a no go, they say they cannot polish nor wax on top of the ceramic coating, the two pieces have to be paint/worked on and the do the ceramic on top of it... And a part of me feels like it is bs. I mean sure there's a part of the scratch in the bumper where the paint was chipped so I know that cannot be fixed without getting worked on, but the rest I believe it should be either fixed or at least improved. Also, regardless of the ceramic coating I am noticing water stains again on my review glass especially, and I've found scratches inside my car, the glass sections, and it must be from when I get the care detailed because there is no way it's me, I don't even handle keys not sharp anything inside the car, so with that said, what products should I use on the exterior of my car which has a ceramic coating that can possibly remove or reduce scratches without compromising the ceramic and inside to also get rid of scratches?

Using a cleaner wax that does indeed polish with a machine sure is a bad choice for this example.

My car got detailed, they put wax on it, can I apply ceramic coating on top of the wax?
@SaddyTaz7 ай бұрын
No. You should do a strip wash to remove all the chemicals on the paint including wax, chemically and mechanically decon the paint, before applying ceramic coating. Ceramic coating should always be bound to clean clear coat, not to any forms of chemicals or wax.

Negative ghost rider, so detailer to detailer.. not a weekend warrior lol… since yes, waxes are cleaner product.. the abrasion between the product and the pad will definitely hinder the coating.. that looks possibly like a malco medium polish.. so would be abrasive enough..also if you choose to wax, which I wouldn’t.. there are hundreds of sprayable topper products on any local shelf that will boost hydrophobic properties and help maintain coatings… but in any high temp states… wax will render itself useless on any hot day with the exception of a few which will cause the wax to clog the coating.. now you have more of a issue, you can use iron removers and so on to cleanse the surface but it’s just not worth it… buy a spray topper and move on with life 😊

Hey mike, I agree a spray topper is the easiest way to go. I actually just used the meguiars cleaner wax on this. Not enough abrasion to degrade a coating from that usage but over multiple applications it could potentially. The reason I made the video is because I get asked this question all the time. People think that they are completely removing the coating from adding a wax and I wanted to explain that for them so they dont have to worry that they ruined their coating. But yes I always advise people to use a product like carpro reload or something similar instead of a wax.

Can you ceramic coat over wax?
@john182612 жыл бұрын
Good question. I was wondering about that too but i don't see any replies. Thanks

No you don't. Coz you needed the ceramic coat to adhere to the car paint instead on the Wax! That would be pointless for the ceramic coat.
