2:08 As a soapmaker, I would like to verify that the people who are claiming this, is correct! Distilled water is what is most recommend. However, deionized water or reverse osmosis water, etc... are good alternatives. This is because soap doesn't bind well to the minerals in water. These minerals will react with the soap in a negative way, and reduce the cleaning ability of the soap. The harder your water (soft water vs hard water), the lower results that the soap will get when mixed with the tap water. In your test that you mention wanting to perform (idk if you have done the test yet or not), but unless you have hard water then you might not see a very big difference in the foaming ability. Soft water vs hard water, makes a big difference in the cleaning (and foaming) ability of a soap.

I received my pressure washer kzbin.infoUgkxfQauTxLT0JLSvqkq10rD79TU4k0Vz8zP over the weekend and decided to wait for the sun to come out before firing it up. Was needed to clean the deck. Our last pressure washer broke a couple of seasons ago, and I just hadn't replaced it yet. This one had great comments, so here we are. It was easy to assemble, and the trigger wand is comfortable and easy to hold for long periods of time. The pressure washer worked great and made quick work of the "TN North side algae" that inevitably grows every year. I also washed all of the deck furniture while I was at it... it all looks great! So far I am happy with this purchase. I plan to climb the ladder to wash siding over the next couple of days, will update if I have anything else to add after that!

@thetacticalape88523 жыл бұрын
In order to make this a better comparison, you should fill the water level prior to adding the soap. Also, how well something foams does not indicate how well it will clean or lubricate the surface. I will generally only use a soap that is either ph neutral or a ceramic type of wash depending on what I am washing. Additionally, as you continue testing the same panel it can change dwell times of the soap. DI water has a huge impact on foam too. It is nice to see how well some of the soaps foam though.
@petecallamaras64222 жыл бұрын
i actually disagree with your observation. Using a "scientific method" in the test - everything was done following the same methodology, including noting Ph level (neutral acidic or alkaline), the use of de-ionized water and noting any deviation in the test from manufactures directions. Thickness and foam "hang time" and sheeting was noted. And each panel test was done the same. So, IMHO, the comparison did answer the question of which best soap for foam canon.
@thetacticalape88522 жыл бұрын
@@petecallamaras6422 Still doesn't tell you how well it cleans or lubricates the the panel. Also the first soap on a dry panel will have an increased dwell time over one tested on a wet panel. The longer the test goes on, the cleaner and more lubricated the panel will become.

The whole point of a pre-wash is to remove as much dirt as possible, so surely it would be better to test the cleaning power of each product rather than how much it foams? I love a product that foams as much as everyone else but I see from testing on other channels that some runny foams actually have better cleaning power.
@ParadoxEP3 жыл бұрын
true but there's really no way to thoroughly and evenly test that at all. Hell if you wanted maximum cleaning power, everyone would be using dawn haha. People also use the foam as lubricant as they scrub car with washmit which is why the more foam the better.

Check out a channel called Alfie Detailing. He's a detailer out of Indonesia who tests the cleaning power of a lot of snow foams. For an amateur production, he has a lot of positives with his testing process: 1) The roads in Indonesian must be ROUGH, cause his white car is always filthy, which happens to be a perfect test bed for cleaning power 2) He pre-rinses with a pressure washer. This seems to be the most basic step, but so many people test cleaners of all sorts without doing a pre-rinse. If you don't do a pre-rinse, you have no idea if it's the pressure washer or the chemical doing the actual work when you pressure wash the chemical off 3) I think the bluntness of other cultures is hilarious and get a kick out of his videos lol To save you time - regular car soaps in a foam cannon don't do anything in terms of pre-cleaning, and a pre-rinse with a pressure washer is going to remove more dirt than a regular car soap & foam cannon ever will. You need a dedicated pre-rinse product, otherwise you're wasting your money. The only dedicated pre-rinse products that seem to work right now are Bilt Hamber Touchless and Auto Foam, Autobrite Magifoam, and CarPro Lift. Griots Garage has a product called Foaming Surface Prep that I haven't seen tested yet, but it looks like it might be promising

Using either DI or distilled water in the cannon to mix with the soap yields better results because the chemicals in the soap can more readily bind and “react” with the pure water. If there are minerals, the soap doesn’t mix and react with the water as well as intended/designed.

I decided to try it in the pressure washer system I just assembled (Karcher 1800 psi / 1.2 gpm, Uberflex hose, MJJC V3.0 / 1.1mm orifice), just because I had it already. They recommend mixing it 50:50 with water for foam cannons, so that's what I did, and it produces really nice foam. It's not as good as the best soaps tested here, but it's not far off, so I'll stick with it until I use it up.

For my foam canon I use distilled, but just tap water for the bucket wash. My go-to soap for both steps is CG Honeydew, but would like to try the Mr. Pink at some point. To prolong the performance of your canon, be sure to fill it with clean water and run it for at least 30 seconds when you're done. You're right that the stainless mesh can gunk up otherwise.

I appreciate your tests and comparisons, but in order to accurately evaluate and compare products, the manufacturer’s directions should be followed. I am not an Armor All fan, but even though the cost per wash would be higher, their recommended ratio of product to water was not used in the test. Using about 20 cents per ounce of each different detergent modifies the intended formulas. Some products are more concentrated than others. Better cost analysis could probably be accomplished with equal amounts of label instructed, mixed solutions. Thanks for performing your comparisons.

Thanks for the video - the missing link here, that wasn't tested is: Which one of these leaves the *LEAST* spots after thoroughly rinsing? I used the ArmorAll brand shown and it was HORRIBLE for leaving a mass of huge spots, even though I rinsed the crap out of the vehicle.... it left some sort of residue and resulting 'haze-like film' over the painted surface, big spots everywhere. Also, maybe mention how all these soaps work with typical well water in a suburban setting. Do you use 'softened' water in your shop? What do you do to combat spotting, after the vehicle dries.... I couldn't even blow the water off in time with my EGO 650 blower before the vehicle dried off..... I am sure the outside sun and heat is a factor... although the day I did it, it was sunny and about 72 degrees. Thanks for your insights.... That's was my Red Raptor on that Meguiar's Ultimate Snow Foam ;) Couple things worth mentioning - USF was developed with use on protected vehicles in mind (ie having wax, sealant or a coating on the vehicle) and unlike any other snow foam, it actually clings BETTER to a hydrophobic surface than a neglected one (AND it is formulated to NOT strip wax/sealants or clog coatings). It is an incredibly trick formula with two types of foam to maximize not just foam thickness, but CLING time (which is paramount for snow foam to actually do work). So on oxidized/neglected/unprotected paint like that test vehicle it actually has a bit of a disadvantage as that is not an intended application. Lastly, regarding the dilution ratios, unlike other brands that disingenuously suggest using just 1-2 ounces of soap in the foam cannon (which would equate to between a 8:1 and 16:1 when used in either 16oz or 32oz snow foamers), and would yield absolute GARBAGE results, Meguiar's recommends a realistic and functional 5:1. 5:1 is actually VERY good, as most brands requires a 3:1 ratio for truly thick foam (including chemical guys). So in reality, to get comparable maximum thickness foam, you will find USF will outperform other soaps that mislead and suggest you only need 1-2 ounces of soap per cannon fill. -MK

Great video. Im just getting into washing my vehicles since we just got a new lexus (wifey) and F150 Powerboost for me. I hate the car wash tunnels and the self wash bays. Thus was a huge help in helping me decide which product to go with! Sub'd!

Can you just use well water? Probably silly question, but I’ve heard doing mobile detailing that using certain water can cause spots on the car when you wash it.

What about actual pollutant breakdown? I'd really like to see which soap cleans the best on its own.

please excuse my complete ignorance with this topic but I have to ask... what is the big deal about the thickness of the foam? surely all that matters is how it cleans and leaves the car when finished? My local hand car wash uses a foaming product via a pressure lance system.... it runs off quite quickly - but leaves a super clean finish once rinsed and dried.

You turn the top nozzle all the way to the positive right side, which is more water less foam, if you turn it more to the left negative side, it's less water more foam.

Trying to find a good car shop for matte/satin paint ( my whole car is not Matte, just my hood, roof, and trunk) so I guess a car soap that is both good for Matte / satin paint and also regular paint.

Would be great to see CarPro Reset, Xtreme Solutions Extreme Suds, Leno’s Vehicle Wash, GSF, and maybe a super concentrated newbie like Detail Firm Exterior Lather! All great products! Love your 4Runner also!

How does heavier foam release the dirt from the paint better than a more watery runny foam?
@hookedonprjonrojas2314 Жыл бұрын
Heavier foam doesn’t run off so fast allowing for the soap to break down the dirt even more

You should try MS Schippers TandT supposed to be good
