@@Addicted2Yarn1 hi, my guess as someone who has curly hair 3A, is because curls will bounce up to a short length when it is cut and in order to get the desired length they (client and hairdresser) needed to see what length she originally had. I only know from my own experiences with getting my hair cut, is that I have to have it cut long then where I want to sit when styled. I hope this helped.

@IsMe2.0 I have been in this situation, and at the time, I was so sick and extremely depressed. I had hair about halfway down my bottom . My hair has a natural curl, and it is extremely thick. I wish I could have been able to go to a salon like this with such a loving, beautiful woman. Unfortunately for me, it was a traumatic experience. I was already in a bad mind frame because I loved my hair. My hair was part of my identity. People knew me from my big hair, lol. Anyway, the salon wasn't able or wasn't willing to take the time to get it out. So they cut it so short that it literally was my nightmare coming true. This was like 20 plus years ago. I believe the reason they worked on it in this video even though they were going to cut it was because they wanted to have some length. If they had cut it where it started to tangle from her head, it would have been cut to her head. Like extremely short to her head. Thank you all from this salon. You all are such beautiful angels 😇 💗. If you have never been in this kind of situation, then you don't truly understand how this makes you feel. A lot of people can be cruel about how it got to this situation. I always say if you don't know and have not been in the same situation, then don't speak negative about it . We never know what someone may be going through, so be respectful and give a simple smile because it could change someone's way of thinking in that split second. Stay safe and stay vigilant ❤️ 🙏 💙.

To say out loud around her that she just might be their worst case ever, while not including her in the conversation (they’re talking to each other only) so it feels more like gossip than a productive conversation. It’s amazing what you all offer, but maybe be more aware about the language you use around the client when only speaking to each other. Words of encouragement are the best option, not talking about how bad the situation is.

Im a Dog Groomer, and I mean no disrespect, but these videos have helped me so much when it comes to my work. Pet hair and people hair are often similar,so I am so grateful for the tips I receive from videos like this one.
@joesmilk34922 ай бұрын
@gypsyjengypsydogs9320 I really wish dog groomers would take the time to demat hair on dogs. Our dog is a shitzu havanese mix, and his hair gets matted, but he's sensitive, and he won't let us brush him. He bites and runs away and we've tried everything to get him to stay, but he won't listen. Then, when we send him to the groomers, they shave him, and sometimes they shave too close to the skin.
@gypsyjengypsydogs93202 ай бұрын
@@joesmilk3492 I understand both sides to that argument. We don't want to hurt your dog. My recommendation is to not bath your dog unless you brush and comb him completely BEFORE the bath and after. This should be done even when he has been shaved. There is a product called Glo-Coat by Top Performance that is amazing. It needs to be applied to detangled hair and it will prevent matting.
@viceb72 ай бұрын
@@joesmilk3492 dematting a dog is much different is the problem, the matting can tug the skin and bruise them. It's just not humane to demat a dog if it's more than fairly easy to brush out. I'm a professional trainer and see some insane matting unfortunately, people really think brushes can work miracles sometimes and they can't. The groomer is shaving them down for a reason. If you want to work with your dog to enjoy brushing mroe you need to do it when the hair is not matted so it's not painful.
@MykieDoesYT2 ай бұрын
@@joesmilk3492 the difference between people matting and dog matting, is that people are vocal people. dogs can't understand us, and so just like people using their words to say stop, dogs say "stop" by growling, nipping, freezing, etc. a lot of times dogs won't sit still for a dematting like a person will. and if your particular dog bites you when you try to brush him, why would you think he would act different towards anyone else? and most groomers understand that dematting a dog just for it to get matted again in two weeks makes all the hours worth of work worth nothing. groomers only shave a dog when it is matted to the point where there is no point in trying to brush it out. please don't take out your frustration about something that *physically* can't be done on the groomer.
@joesmilk34922 ай бұрын
@MykieDoesYT_ Sorry. I just don't know how we're supposed to handle him. He won't let anyone brush him, but he needs to get brushed, or it will mat. It's really sad when he gets upset that they shaved him, but there's nothing we can do.

Hello, the matting would cause migraines, as it's pulling on the nerves of your head. Warm up a lot of oil, massage it in, then cover with saran wrap. Then cover your head with an old tee shirt, sleep with it in. Just cover your pillow case with a towel. Take some painkillers, add more warm oil, and use your fingers to loosen the hair from the scalp. As your working, have conditioner at hand to lather your scalp and hair. Rest as you need to. If you work, start on a Friday night, so you can do it over the weekend. Concentrate on loosing from the scalp, as it's the same as if your hair is being pulled. If need be, repeat the warm oil, and saran wrap it, and sleep on it again. When you have released enough matting to shoulder length, watch a Brad Mondo video of how to cut it evenly. You can do this. God help you ❤🎉

@Sweetiecat123 Unfortunately, when you have mental health issues or physical disabilities etc, it can be very easy to suddenly notice you haven't brushed or washed your hair for a week. It's dirty and a bit knotty, and you know it's going to be hard work brushing it, so you put a cap on and leave it til you have the energy. The next thing you know, it's been a month since you brushed your hair, and now you just have a clump. Eventually, you start being too embarrassed to ask for help. It’s happened to me before, my parents died in a car crash, I was depressed for 1 year. But don’t worry I’ve been adopted now and I shaved my head to cancer so I don’t need to let it get in that “state" again

@@KatieplaysWHI1234 I don’t know your situation but I hope you’re doing okay! Thanks for chiming in on this ignorant comment! It lifts my spirits as someone who just dematted today for the first time in a year.

I just got out of the hospital. I am still physically unable to care for my own hair. There was a very compassionate nurse in the hospital who helped me de-matt my hair while I was there, and I have help now that I am home. Not everyone gets to have that.
