Thank you, Woody, and a thousand thanks. Please, for a perfect and good coil (300uH) while winding the Litz wire in the first layer, what is the air distance between the winding and the next? How much is the air distance between the first layer and the second, and so on?

1/3 wire diameter on each wire should be air dielectric of one, if using a higher dielectric the spacing needs to be greater than 1/3 diameter thickness.

… Ive been watching you in my recommended. Seen that you do mods to old detectors. Been meaning to get in touch with you about my SD2200D. …Then you show me what a modded unit does over a 4500…. Sheesh, fair enough you have to walk over it with a detector but that’s miles ahead of four other people with anything.

I was wondering if making an emf shield for power lines and placing it directly ontop of coil, would it swamp the rx and not good? The shield is light thin foam saturated in lanolin grease encased in plastic.

Nothing really works except a cancel coil configuration.
