I installed a tow hitch on the back of my dethatcher so I can tow the sweeper at the same time. With 3 acres of lawn it cuts my dethatching/sweeping time in half.

Whenever possible, it’s best to dethatch first and then mow. The blade clippings are the only thing beneficial (nitrogen). Once you get up the thatch (stolons, stalks and crowns), the green clippings will hit soil and help fertilize.

Very nice! Sorry if I missed it but what is your grass type? That would be a nice start to a compost heap if you are a gardener too.

Not entirely sure honestly, but I know there are seed mixes formulated for Alaska that contain a mix of: Boreal Red Fescue Park Kentucky Alene Kentucky Arctared Fescue Kenai Kentucky Washington Kentucky So I’d be willing to bet something along those lines...

Dang. I only have one acre, but feel like I had similar effects. I was using the lower setting of the two since I didn’t feel I was getting much results from that higher setting.

Might want to check your hitch height and make sure it is adjusted properly... if you have to use the low setting, you are missing out on some functionality... unless it is and you just really aren’t happy with how the first setting does!

@@JoshsGreenGarage yea, the hitch height is lower on the mower. My thatchinator wheels are in the middle. If I put them to the top, I worry the tines will drag when I’m transporting it. Overall, I made adjustments to the deck height and it seems to work ok. I may need to fiddle with it more next time I use it.

That at least looks a little heavier built than the Brinly or Agri Fab which seem so flimsy. Any idea of the cost and if they are still made.

Currently $253 on home depot's website at the date of this comment. Not sure what they would charge at a Deere dealer. Keep in mind this does not include the extensions. Mine were $58 a piece from dealer in spring of 2021.

How many acres of lawn do you have?

Lol, unfortunately not as much as I’d like, the property is a bit over an acre, the mowable yard is a little under an acre… I know, some of my stuff is way overkill if that is what you are thinking…

@@JoshsGreenGarage Ok now im scared. I have a similar size yard. This yard has never had any dead matter removed. 30 years of build up.
