Diesel engines are rather amazing. We have seen countless Diesel engines start and run (albeit roughly) with serious issues. Those finicky gassers would never start and run under similar circumstances. I love my diesels!!! Thanks Rudolf!

I've seen grown men that can't even do that yet. I know all your kids have got their specialties and whatever they want to do but I believe Braxton is going to be one heck of a mechanic and one heck of a truck driver

I learned how to drive helping my dad move the truck around the gravel pit that he worked at for years. I got good enough that Dad set me up to haul away the dirt portion and dump it into a pile. Th truck was a 59 International with a gas engine & 5+4 trannies & air brakes. It originally didn't have spring brake pots on it and a few men lost their lives from run aways. I also learned about air brake systems on that old truck by helping with the spring brake system install. It is great to see Brax learning to drive & wrench on trucks with you & his grandpa. I also first learned how to fix things with my grandpa, mostly on his old Ford trucks & 8N/9N tractors with Swartz loaders & back hoes, as well as the brake drum/belt run buzz saw. We also used to run around his properties smoke bombing the gopher infestation for a few years. it was so awesome working with both of them as a kid.

Years ago, we had a Diesel service truck in our family well drilling business. My little brother decided to clean the air filter with gas without telling anyone (he was 7-8). My dad put it back in and started the engine and had to choke it down when pit ran off. Tore up the transmission a little and broke the motor mounts.

Hey Tim, one of the things we used to do with all the air brake equipped trucks we had was to put a female quick coupler to the air tanks. It allowed us to air up the truck and move it quickly instead of letting it run for a few minutes to build pressure. It just took an air source (another truck or an air hose from the shop) and a double male adapter with a ball valve cut-off between them. Then the truck was moveable immediately instead of running it in the shop for a couple of minutes waiting for the air to come up, or if it was being worked on and couldn't run. The other advantage to that is it allowed the truck to air up it's own tires and we even occasionally used it to run air impact wrenches out on service calls or when we had to recover a tractor with a flat tire.

Have any trouble with the fitting getting filled with dirt and garbage? How did you keep it clean?
@gregsabados3762
@gregsabados3762 2 жыл бұрын
@@mrmotofy we used the slightly more expensive brass couplers so they didn't rust and had them installed facing down so that dirt wouldn't collect in them. being on the end of an air tank bolted to the frame, they were in a pretty protected location. The S-1900 Rollback and Mack U-600s both never really had a problem with anything more than dust getting in them. If they did, you could just flush it out with some brake cleaner before using them. The old U sitting in the shop running for 6 minutes or so waiting for it to air up was the main reason we made the adapter. It would really smoke up the shop before you could move it.

@@gregsabados3762 oh I totally understand why...I don't understand why there's not one on every truck...just hard in some climate to keep junk out I recently found a Mount cover kind of thing with a threaded base that is for example on your bumper A threaded base that is for example on your bumper. Then has a aluminum cover that screws on over the whole fitting keeping everything out. But there are like 50 bucks each

And did y'all see that W9 with its new fuel tank, bumper, and the fenders painted to match, I bet the speedometer works now to. And with its new/old chip, "It's a beast" 😅 At least with the Freight Shaker blown up, it'll give em time to fix the fairings and go through and fix everything right, like they do on every truck they rebuild.😅 Tim said it himself, Braxton can back up better than he can, I don't know who set the bar the lowest? 🤷‍♂️
