I was hurting after the marathon yesterday so I didn’t get to meet Seth, but around mile 12 he ran by doing his cool down and the whole group I was running with yelled “Seth”. Great race yesterday and good luck in New York!

QD: Recovery after a recent race effort. Just reflect on the whole training block and be thankful for the ability to participate in the marathon and get a PR! Went from 4:20 in 2019 to 2:55 in 2021.

thanks! I did follow the 18week 55 mile peak plan from Pfitzinger. I'm sure having good shoes and staying injury free helped. Also lucked out and it was a perfect autumn morning the day of the race, I also realize maybe I may have some natural potential for it as well, not to say it wasn't difficult though. Also used a Garmin pace pro plan on race day. So I knew exact splits to hit for each km adjusted for elevation. And how many seconds overall I was behind or ahead. Let me focus on just the current km when running and then just trust that I would hold our till the end.

Amazing improvement, huge congrats. Low volume training has worked great for me as well. I BQ’d on my 1st marathon and just re-qualified in Boston on 3/days/wk and only hitting mid-30mi/wk in my training, but I’m a lot older than you so probably comparable to your training age-graded. You obviously trained and raced very smartly. Martha

On every race day for Seth has a race I always try and run a similar distance in solidarity and celebration. It's a fun way to keep my training on point and makes me feel like I'm in the race too! 20km yesterday in a VERY windy Toronto. Shout out to all the folks running the Toronto Marathon yesterday too!

Seth, last night on WXYZ channel 7, in Detroit, They had a great shot of you on their 6:00pm broadcast. You were well centered at the starting line as the gun was going off. Congrats on the race and I hope yo come back and run the full Detroit Marathon, when the boarder opens back up. To run over the Ambassador Bridge in to Canada as the sun is rising is awesome. Then returning to the US via the only underwater mile during a marathon anywhere is both very cool and very hot. Those that have run it know what I mean!

This week's goal is to run the first 18km in my life. 12 weeks ago started running and barely was able to run 5k, stuck to my program, and now I am preparing for my first 1/2 marathon in Lisbon. My pace has increased from 6:30 per km to 5:27 per km, nothing impressive but taking step by step turning that doorknob.

Last spring, I decided to get out and run, but I knew that if I didn't have a goal then I would give up like so many times before. I had only ever completed a couple of 5K's, but I decided to train for a half marathon. I came across your channel as I was researching running shoes, and I've been keeping up with your channel ever since. Your videos have helped me train and fuel properly. I completed my first half marathon last year, and you inspired me to go for the full marathon. Well, I ran my first marathon yesterday (same day as your Detroit half), and I met my goal of sub-4 hours. Thank you for all that you do to inspired runners of all experience levels to get out and tackle their goals. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

It was great meeting you briefly in the Wave A start of the race, Seth! I arrived to the start line about 30 minutes before the horn, which for this race is pretty normal, hoping to be able to chat with you briefly. I knew I wasn't going to be able to do the post-race meet-up jog, so this was my only shot. 20 minutes to go. 10 minutes to go. No Seth. National Anthem. No Seth. With each passing minute, the wave filling up with more and more runners, making it harder to spot you. With 5 minutes to go, I gave up and told myself I missed my chance and I had to focus. Suddenly, I see this short guy in a white singlet in front of me cutting across the wave of runners, getting to the front row. Even with four minutes before the start of the race, when most runners are getting in the zone (which is to be expected), you were kind enough to let me say hello and pause for a brief chat. To me, just those 15 seconds where you let me tell you how much I enjoyed your content, that spoke volumes of the type of person you are. All smiles, laughing, saying "Thank You" with a race moments away. What I didn't get to say is the reason I enjoy your content is priorities: Family comes before running. True Love + your boys > running. Thanks for all you do for the sport and DGR, and I pray you have a great race in New York.

keep myself healthy over the next week as I get my last couple big speed workouts in before I start to slide into my taper for the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon in 3 weeks, so I’m not heading into my taper somewhat injured like I did with my last marathon. great QOD! I have my first 50K next this coming weekend. I've covered the distance a few times at looped/time based events, but this is my first actual 50K. An unexpected major surgery popped up for my wife last week, so now instead of using this as a tune up race for a 100k in January, this might be the only race I get for a while! My goal is to give it the best effort I can (and keep the first half pretty easy) given the short(er) taper than I would normally do for a goal race. Good news is: your first one is always a PR!

QD: I'm two weeks after a goal marathon that went really well. This week it's time to start practicing speed, in preparation for a small Thanksgiving Day 5k that I organize for my neighborhood. My nemesis will be a 14 year-old cross-country phenom who's right around 17:00 fitness. If I can see him finish way up in the distance, I will be very happy with my performance that day. Hoping to get Jared Ward and his family there as well. It's a pretty well decorated neighborhood as running goes. I've never been so hyped for a turkey trot!

QD: I've been sick all year, which was resolved through surgery a couple of weeks ago and my goal for this week is to do my first interval session (6 × 1km & 4 x 200m) in well over a year. It was great to get back to the track after multiple lockdowns and a lengthy illness. 😁

QD Answer: My one goal to accomplish this week is to absolutely crush my 6 threshold mile workout as I have never done this distance at that pace before. Every mile brings me closer to Boston 2023

Did I miss it but what was the goal of this race, what time did you do (ok I know as looked it up), was that an OK run in the context of huge mileage weeks for New York and how does that make you feel about NYM preparation? Or is that all for tomorrow?

Think Seth called it a ‘tune up race’, Tim.

@@darrel.cooper yeah realise but what does that really mean I am thinking to myself. His HM PB is 65 something but ran 69 here. But 69 is faster than his marathon PB pace despite splitting a 66 in Amsterdam Marathon as I recall. So was the aim to run this HM as fast as he could on the day or was it some sort of marathon effort/pace test he can't so easily do back home.

@@TimGrose I think Seth just is not a very 'exact' guy. He talks more about 'feelings' ,'vibe' etcetera. He is not a 'numbers' guy like you. (I predict he will never make the shoe comparisons that you do so well) You make an interesting point. I guess his hardcore fans don't know much about the numbers and just appreciate his mindset and enthusiasm

@@jacobvandermeulen1970 Just thought it was odd to not even mention your time in a race vlog. That said he did do an analysis live stream last night and suggested he wasn't far off (about 68 I recall) where wanted to be and also indicated that a sub 2:20 in NY was still on the cards. So going to be fascinating to see if this mega mileage (and vertical) approach works.

QD: Short term goal is to get past being generally tired after last Monday’s marathon and associated travel to the point my recovery runs feel like normal. Longer term is currently rearranging my planned non-running schedule next April so I can go back to Boston.

QD: I have a race on Sunday; the inaugural AZ State 48 Half Marathon in Chandler, AZ. Goal is to be under 80 minutes. I suffered a really bad injury this summer by hyperextending my right shoulder and a grade 2 tear on my pectoral. I went through a rough patch not running and going to physical therapy. I finally got back to running in August and have been training really hard ever since. Hopefully everything comes all to fruition.

Which shoe is better, the Fuji Lite 2 or the Torrent 2 ? Would you say the Torrent 2 is the Mach 4 or trail shoes?

QOD: Praying to keep alive my small business that I have developed in the last 2 decades, and continue to bring some food for my family. Turning that door knob is not just for running, even that is my life passion. But it's also to win over this crazy pandemic, and greet the small light at the end of this tunnel. DGR strong
