Detroit had seen an exodus of people since the 1950s. Yet the estimates released Thursday show Detroit's population rose by just 1,852 people from 631,366 in 2022 to 633,218 last year.

Well, well, well! When you actually invest in infrastructure, businesses and people along with upgrades and produce fun things/venues to attend, the people will actually come. Who would have ever thought of that besides the residents of Detroit speaking on those same things since the 70's. smh
@stickynorthАй бұрын
Build it and they will come.. It really does work. Put $ into infrastructure and strategic investments and people will return. True urban living remains way better than life in the endless sprawl of suburbs...

Since the 70's? LOL! The city had a lot of problems in the 70's, 80's, 90's and 00's....corrupt mayor after corrupt mayor after corrupt mayor. Hopefully the people coming into the are aren't as stupid as the ones who repeatedly vote Democrat every election and expect different results. Duggan has done a pretty decent job, but there a lot more corrupt politicians around Detroit that need to go, and that's not going to change by voting lockstep down ballot Democrat.

Old Detroit vs New Detroit. I saw this in Nashville years ago. In another several years, some people won’t be able to afford to live in the D.

car insurance is over $5,000 a year, can't get house insurance, property taxes are thru the roof, they have run to the burbs and they are now looking like D

How cute. More people are moving into one high rise complex in downtown Edmonton in a few months than the entire growth of Detroit.. 23% growth over 10 years... But do keep it coming. Detroit has great bones and in theory all the means to become one of America's great cities again... And I'm rooting for ya! From Edmonton...

The point is that the trend of the past 60 years has been reversed.

Are they legal citizens or are they illegal taking from citizens of Detroit that are already struggling?
@sebastianrivero9263Ай бұрын
Ignoring the offensive comment. Believe me, you should worry about the wealthy people that will move "illegals" and else outside the big D.

That's the dumbest question ever🙄, it literally makes no sense...how stupid are you?

🤔 That THOUGHT DID come to my mind, That was shortly after I saw a report that OVER 700 ILLEGAL INVADERS were placed in temporary housing in southwest Detroit…. But I do know those numbers DO include actual citizens from near and far outside the city limits I see them in my own neighborhood . I’m just stating what I FEEL. MY OPINION … had we not chosen the Mayor we did ….. We may have been FLOODED with the ILLEGAL INVADERS 🤔 notice the pattern of WHERE THEY WERE SENT ( what they have in common ) hint there mayors !
