Detroit Speed Mini Tub install part 1. In this video, I work on the Driver's side mini tub install. I cut out sheet metal and part of the frame rail. I weld in the new piece and test fit the new tub. Details they don't show in the instructions.

Like the idea of keeping a "factory " fit and finish look to it. I've always tried to give the appearance the spot welds were never touched. Like how you filmed your thought process on this. Feel like it's a doable task now.

I always find it impressive when people like you here; repeatedly fast pace hit the hammer and not their hands or fingers on a regulair basis! Great video. Thx.

In order to make a decision on which mini tub kit to purchase for this build, I've pretty much watched all the mini tub installation videos available from the vendor or on Utube. Although I'm biased no one can argue that there is a more complete, detailed and with excellent clear well lighted video anywhere on the web. Detroit Speed needs to get Barry's permission and use it as a premier install video for the classic Mustang platform. Later in the build I'm sure there will be a "Part 3" video that shows the installation and modifications neccessary for the trim brackets. Another excellent tutorial from Jo Daddy's Garage. Well done Barry!

Got all excited right from the beginning when I saw the 69 quarter panel, My opinion best looking mustangs ever the 69-1970! I had 2 1970 Boss 302 along time ago.

I’m watching your channel because I need to do a mini tub on my 66 coup. As it has a special 3 link torque arm suspension going to be installed later which is made to accommodate one. Thanks again.

Unbelievable as usual, I'm trying to figure out "mini tubs". A commenter said for larger tires. Why the hell do they call it mini tubs? Your attention to detail is second to none.

Good Morning to everyone !! I'm at this stage on my mustang and all i can say is Detroit Speed should pay you for YOUR instructions. They're little instruction book that comes with the kit is so off the line of what to do.

Seems thow many videos from companies will do that, make it look easy so as to sale you what you want, because I think if they showed you how hard and time consuming it is you may change your mind about doing the job !

I'm surprised you're not using Coleco pins instead of the clamps once you locate it in position it'll go back to the same spot every time, you could put it all together before any welding good luck move forward...

Great job as always, Barry. Just wondering- if you'd known you were going to tub this project at the beginning, could you have done done the job, at least the frame rail surgery part, with the bare floor pan sitting on jack stands, or even better, a rotisserie? Maybe not weld in the new inner tub till you had the body coming together for alignment purposes. Anyway, my back was aching in sympathy, but as always, loved the way you kept at it till you had it straight and true!

Probably could have done the frame rail part early. It wouldn’t make much difference overall.

Unless you’re going for a 100 point perfect restoration mini tubs are a no brainer (especially if they have a factory look). I did a ‘68 Camaro project that took the same amount of work this body is getting. They asked if I wanted tubs and I declined since I was thinking restoration. Those original skinny factory tires are no match for even a mildly more horsepower build.

Great job, a lot of good info, I watched the Detroit’s video and I found yours had more details that are important! I want to order these for my 67 convertible project, I wonder if they will fit the same? Once again 👍👍

thanks Barry, watching from Hong Kong, can't wait to get home and finish up my projects. You give us stuff to think about before taking on this project. Have you thought about rear end and wheel dimensions yet? I've watched the DS video but it doesn't compare to your detain. They should sponsor you. I'm waiting for part 2. Second side is always faster as you learned something from the first side. Keep us updated thanks again.
