Amazing to see how advanced farming gets so quickly while still maintaining basic concepts. Just bigger, faster and more efficient. Great video as always, Mike!

I first saw Deutz and Fendt tractors when stationed in Germany in the early 80s. the craziest thing I saw was a tractor that seem to have no engine, just the front frame, mowing with something that was not a cycle bar, and sounded like a lawn mower. The tractor was quite loud for its size, the only possible place for the Diesel engine had to be under the farmers feet. I later found out that loud little tractor had an opposed piston engine under the workstation. a Fendt GT 275 or 360. I wondered if that fast little mower would be something that US farmers would find handy, fast forward to today, disc mowers have pretty much replaced cycle bars. it's also good to see a different color of green in the field.👍

The wheel rake. It looks like it would be hard on the wheels and the teeth on the wheels, raking the hay, rubbing it on the ground like that. We used to use a bar rake, and just barely kept the teeth right above the ground because he didn’t want the teeth to rub on the ground because it will break the teeth off.

Hey Mike great video, just a random question. On the 6 series tractor with mechanical rear remote valve is there a way to lock them in continuous flow to say run a fan for a planter. Thank!

30 people? When a dealer has an event in the UK, certainly the ones I have participated in, we expect upwards of 200 people and a good event/demo/ open day would have 500 or more interested people. There’s just so much work involved from organising the brands and their representatives, catering, the machinery and haulage if remote from the depot. The pubicity before is very important as is the post event publicity and not forgetting the whole point, closing sales.

Well I've been to lots of these over the years and for a dealer event 30 is decent. Also there can be several factors but if farmers have lots of stuff to do for example lots of the farms in the area are behind putting up hay and they had the weather to make hay while this was going on. That's stuff that's hard to plan around months in advance. I've been to several dealer open houses in the evenings and or in the off or slow season that can pull in the kind of numbers your talking about.

@@farmhandmike You should come over to West Wales to see how the best dealers do it here. Interest has fallen off over the last thirty years certainly, as machinery has got bigger and volume has declined but a grassland demo by a dealer still pulls in hundreds unless it is pouring with rain. A static event or feeding/bedding demo on a farm or college during the day may pull in fewer people but less than 50 would be disappointing for even a small scale demo. The least well attended public organised demo I’ve ever attended was specifically for a Kuhn feeding/bedding machine. [no reflection on Kuhn] These demos are usually just for a single farmer on his own yard rather than pre-publicised events of course.
