The issue with him not being joker is joker in the first movie was him. When he was no longer shackled by societies rules and was allowed to be himself he was joker he can laugh happily after that point. So for him to reject joker is a huge “regress” of his character.
@MrGodgivemeaname2 ай бұрын
It also really ruins the whole point that society abused him to become the joker in the first place and it makes zero sense that even MORE ABUSE ( especially the scene with the prison gaurds) would cause him to break from being the joker... the second movie is just antithetical to both the 1st movie and towards the character Arthur Fleck in the first place.

Joker has no backstory. Therefore, the deconstructed Arthur Fleck's Joker was not the Clown Prince of Crime.
@NoBody-ro5vv2 ай бұрын
@@SubtleStair even if he isn’t comics joker he and the person called joker were the same at the end of the first movie. So for him to reject this identity is a regress on the “growth” we saw during the first film. He didn’t want to be a political actor but he reveled in the chaos unashamed in the person he is laughing without pain or shame, refusing to be pushed down by the people above him anymore, and dance in front of a crowd of adoring fans.

According to Harley's origin story, it was Joker who manipulated Harley to become a villain. She also was a psychologist in Arkham, not a patient. Also, Harley was originally made for the Bruce Timm animated series in the 90s, probably as a way to show Joker was not infatuated with Batman and had a girlfriend or a henchwoman sharing his disdain to Batman and Gotham. I just got my morning coffee, I yap quite a lot after drinking coffee.

Personally I really liked the original from 2019 because it's almost like an anti batman movie. (I personally never read the comics maybe it shows what I am about to say) It REALLY showed how rotten Gotham was at it's core! We always see the city from Wayne manor or Bruce schmoozing with socialites but Joker REALLY showed how BAD it was how much the people perpetuate a cycle of abuse. (Spoilers ahead for anyone who didn't obviously see the orginal) Joaquin Phoenix REALLY nailed his role of a guy who is both mentally disturbed and a victim of manipulation and abuse (of course this doesn't justify what he does but it shows how everyone around him and near him is perpetuating and being victims of this rotten town). His mother fills his head with this idea that he is related to the Wayne's and they will be saved by them only for it to be shown she is somewhat nuts and Pheonix's character was just some adopted kid that got abused by his mom's boyfriend. He goes to a Doc regularly who downright is shown to be more and more absent and unsympathetic (most likely highlighted by the fact they are losing their funding). And in the end an entire city wide riot being kicked off by him taking out three upper class guys on a train (who get their jollies off by harassing a woman) and taking out one guy on TV. The city and the people are almost like a character themselves and just watching it change almost makes you think "saving" this city is honestly hopeless... And the sequel from what I hear just recapes the first and does SINGING...... what a waste.....

I think the problem with the analysis of the first film was, those who were negative towards it didn’t even try and understand it. I remember the EFAP on Ralphthemoviemaker’s video where he just compares it to taxi driver in the most mundane way.
