0:24 I went to see a movie in high school with a friend and his family. They had a whole system. They had the branded paper cups and popcorn buckets from a long distant visit. The buckets got mostly filled with candy and chips bought from the supermarket, and the top third with homemade popcorn to disguise it. In the parking lot the cups were filled from two litre soda bottles. And after the movie it was all brought home, cleaned, and put away for next time. We watch Kung-Pow, and it was the hardest I'd laughed in my life. I thought I was going to die because I couldn't breathe.

And theatres would just let them walk in with cups and a bucket of popcorn?

@@TakeAGuess-e6o The way the lobby was set up allowed for it. You bought your ticket (or sent someone to buy them all for your group), then you visited the concessions stand, then you walked to the entrance to the theatre hall. At the entrance you showed your ticket to an employee, who tore it in half, and told you which side of the hall your theatre was.

I like how Trunks and the Androids in DBZ are shamelessly ripped wholesale from Terminator 1 and 2.

There was a saying in the industry: "show, don't tell". A wisdom that has been lost to time, even tho budgets only grow and grow.

You can watch Terminator (1984) for free on KZbin movies.

Dev Naomi @10:00 I'd be reminisced if I didn't mention that James Cameron himself mentioned that the story for the Terminator, was directly inspired by John Carpenter's masterpiece Halloween, from 1978, the greatest horror movie of all time, The Terminator in this movie is a sci fi robot play on Michael Myers and how he stalks Jamie Lee Curtis in that movie. Also The second Terminator movie was inspired by Carpenter's second best movie, The Thing. Also the budget was too low to make it a straight action movie. And like Halloween, everything after that copied it.

when she says "Good for now" I think shes making a mistake. The presupposition that realism is the best and most enjoyable style is highly subjective. If you watch only movies that use melodrama or are otherwise stylized the biased preference for realism fades. also, its incorrect to assume film makers of the past were trying to achieve realism but were just unsophisticated. realism is a style and its not even the most immersive style. i think poetic melodramatic styles pack way more truth into each scene. reality is mundane. great video.

General AI is a fantasy. Our neural networks developed over millions of years. Artificial neural networks can be trained (more precisely, tuned) but they don't change on their own. You need billions of parameters to sometimes produce a coherent response. Imagine what you need to make it "think", whatever that is.

@@eternal3279It happens on Mars in Anno Domini 2205, humans and machine become a hybrid. Almost individuals at times, yet a hive all the same. Entanglement negates the liminal limitations known by humankind in 2203.. In two short years a rather large segment of a Martian colony tossed their humanity in the collective piss-bottle on their mistaken belief to attain "God hood". The Spiders bleed just like you or I; quite often more with their engorged goards. Don't remember this year, this decade; you only catch glimpses of it now and then? Like walking into a room to look for your keys, only for them to be with Uncle Ritts. It's on now, bet.
