It’s good to know that I’m not alone in this😢. My hair used to be so amazing and now it’s fine, no volume, stringy definition. I had severe hair loss and lost my bounce back, I’m trying to just stay positive and use products that make it healthy but it’s not easy at times, lookin through old pics.

I use silicones and sulphates and I’m much happier. After my initial transition CG eventually makes me seriously over moisturized. I don’t think it really needs to be ur plan forever.

Amen! It’s like the curls become limp overtime. So annoying

People, don't give up recovering your hair. In my case, the whole CGM destroyed my hair. After 7 years (2012-2019), my hair went from shine, coarse/medium, 3a/3b to a dry, frizzy, thin mess of 2b/2c/3a hair. People asked me what was wrong with my hair because it was my signature. After my tests came back ok and my doc said I had androgenetic alopecia, which I didn't accept because it doesn't run in my family, I turned for my routine. Some coincidences led me to realize the problem was the whole routine. I dumped it and went back to use sulfates, silicones and wash my hair every day (I just watch for truly dangerous compounds). No coconut anything as coconut oil made my hair fall from my scalp. I used Nioxin for a while, but it was too harsh for my hair (it works though), and also minox. Then, I switched to hair vitamins/MSM/NAC + two toners (Thermalscalp and Follicle Stimulator) + oils (Carol's Daughter Hair growth and the mane choice the alpha growth oil) and I virtually have no hair fall. After 3 years, my curls are mostly back.

Testing the f out of my patience some days. I’m 6 months off deva, switched to Curlsmith which I love. My curls are slowly coming back but I lost a solid amount of density.. sigh. Lots of new growth but it’s going to take a chunk of time to catch up. Been growing my hair out for years, with set backs. And was no color, no heat healthy regimen and this happened. Big big sigh.. some days are better than others.

My experience exactly! I sent all my DC products back to the tune of $760 (I even sent back unopened SAMPLES to show how serious I was). My hair is STILL falling out and I’m experimenting with Curlsmith products, which I like and being serious about wearing a silk bonnet. I also grew out my gray and I’ve never gotten so many compliments, but I’m probably going to have to cut a lot off in order to stop the fall out. It grows quickly, but dang it, I want my FULLNESS back!!!

My hair hasn't been the same since DevaCurl and I went through hygral fatigue on top of that since I was new to embracing my natural hair texture and trying to figure what worked for my hair. I'm glad that your hairs recovering, it gives me hope that not all is lost for my hair as well.

I have wavy hair and when I started my hair journey I started with devacurl. Luckily I didn't use them for long cause the scandal broke shortly after I started using their products. But I do regret using their products because I did have damage. My density went down as well, but it's been coming back and I think it's due to Oway micro stimulating hair bath. I started using Oway products and love them. Also need to be more strict about using oils cause I think that has been helping me grow my hair as well. And yes!! Use what works for you! It DOES not matter! My hair also looks better and healthier using all the 'forbidden' things such as silicones. The is a reason why so many people just quit the CG method. Maybe because it's not all it's cracked up to be. Just do you. Love your hair btw 😊

I thought I was the only one going through this. My hair looks EXACTLY like the pictures you showed. I've been noticing my curls are way more loose underneath compared to my crown area. My hair isn't voluminous as it used to be. Glad to know it possibly could have been to DevaCurl products. Even if it isn't, still going to pass on these products just in case. I cut 7 inches off yesterday. So wish me luck on this journey! Thank you so much for this video

In all honesty I have been using DevaCurl products for a few years now and continue to use them. To be precise, I use Melt into Moisture, Decadence No-Poo and it's conditioner, B-leave in, Deep Seaweed Repair Mask and the Supercreme. I no longer use the gels because my hair is short now. I thank GOD🙏🏼 I have not experienced any side effects from their products. I don't switch up on brands. I just use the one. I remember a few years ago when Shea Moisture came out with the Jamaican Black Castor Oil line, I bought everything. I gave it a good go. Half a bottle of products benefit of doubt go, but the products did not work on my hair. I have type 3a/3b thick. At the time my hair was mid back curly. My hair was left dry and it did not feel soft. I also used OGX Coconut Curls, boy, that sucked the life out of my hair lol. I did not bother using half the bottle. 2 washes was enough for me. However, the OGX Biotin and Collagen worked amazingly on my hair. Go figure! Honey, your hair looks beautiful GOD bless 🙏🏼❤️ I know that as individuals, we know ourselves. Only you know the texture, the length, elasticity and shine of your hair. But know that you will reach your goal.

Yes I’m still recovering on my crown ! But my 3b 3c curls are back 💕 hair still falling out unfortunately but no more burns and headaches. I have my curls back so I’m happy it’s a slow process and I have to get used to introducing products slowly but it’s ok

Everything you are describing is literally everything my hair does now as well. My root is growing in tighter and literally I never know what is going to work anymore. Its unreal. September was rough for me as well. And its dipping into October. The other upsetting part is ive never even been able to see my hair's full potential because it made me pretty much have to restart my journey.

curly girl method, handbook, loraine massey, deva curl.. all were made just to make millions of dollars.. they didn't care about what was best for hair or curls... low poo and no poo and all that silly advice ... all super strict, restrictive and wrong. Basically .. it's hard to maintain curly hair. That's all. But it's worth it. Give your hair a rest, take care of it the best you can, don't straighten it, do protein and deep moisture and keep trying. Love your curls, girls. Thank you Sydney for keeping it real and I love your curls ! xxS

I wanna say THANK U a million times for this video. I feel like it keeps my hopes up. I suggested one of ur videos to a girl where u mixed oils for the scalp cuz that video helped me. I feel like i struggle with having my curls start closer at the root... any more suggestions? Thanks again!

My hair is terrible I wish my curls would come back!!! 😩 My hair thinned and I have wet frizz. It’s extremely frizzing and webbed as soon as I come out of the shower. Soaking wet. I’ve tried a ton and nothings fixing it.

I heard that Loraine, I think I'm spelling her name right, but I heard she left the company years ago and it was under new management. Now she's making her own new line and redoing the cg method because she no longer agrees with some of the stuff she put in the book originally.

RockingAnimeFan235 right. Which is lowkey annoying cause we had all these rules for what? For her now to go back on her word? I can’t.

@@sydneylynn I get what you mean completely. I was on and off with the method and sometimes it would become overwhelming for me so at some points I just stopped. Now I'm actually paying more attention to me hair and using products I think it likes as well as for my skin. Im currently trying out bounce curl and so far I like them but im still keeping out for signs of irritation and the like. Im sorry for this long response lol but I hope everything goes well for you on your journey, your curls look very beautiful to me :)
