People who gate keep spoilers this hard are just as bad as people who spoil imo. Just let them experience it how they want, most of the best reactors I know have experienced One Piece in some form at one point but didn't give it the time, meaning they were spoiled of many important things by the time they fully got invested. I am one of these people, I was spoiled simply by being a passive viewer when my brother was watching it, but that never took away from my experience as spoilers mean nothing without context.

Story wise no real reason for Ace to follow Luffy as Captain at this point, he's his older brother, he's stronger and left their village years before him. He is protective of Luffy as a brother but he has already found a captain he's very loyal to😃 btw the crew don't really seem to talk about their personal lives previous of joining the crew unless something plot wise related happens, Luffy also usually doesn't listen to their backstories. In the manga Ace doesn't appear much at this point, and while i usually don't like how the anime stretches some things out in the anime, when it comes to him i'm happy they chose to expand his role here😄

Regarding why Luffy hasn't talked about Ace before, I mean it only makes sense that he didn't only because he had no reason to. Nami never mentioned having a sister to the crew before meeting her in her hometown. Zoro has never told anyone about his past with Kuina either. It just wasn't relevant at the time to Luffy's adventure with his crew. 😂

About reading the episode titles: They can be spoilery or misleading, but very often they turn out spoilery. Think of one piece live action episode 4 that ends with Garp=Grandpa plottwist would have had an episode title "Luffy finds Grandpa". There actually are some titles that spoil the whole episode 😂 It's up to you but i recommend not reading just to keep the story more of a surprise

This is a big part of Luffy's character :) He never told anyone about Ace. He never feels the need to tell anyone anything, because it is not important to him. He is selfish in that sense. He really just lives in the moment, on the adventure, and does not really worry about anything else. In the same way in Arlong Park he did not worry about what was happening to Nami. He simply wanted to help out his friend. Nothing else was important to him. It ends up helping Oda write a compelling story, because he can avoid giving away certain information early in the story that becomes important later on

9:56 when the manga chapter was released (manga vol 18) Ace becomed the most "omg" trendy biggest character of the series, despite he appeared just in 3 chapters (since the success the Toei Animation decided to give him more screentime in the anime so from ep 18 its a mixed filler and original for a while w) Just imagine: only in 3 chapter manga Ace got tons of merchandise, tons of action figures, tons of "bonus unlockable character in videogames" and more! \°A°/ PS: Shame you skipped ep 99, its was a cute filler =A=

Do NOT read the titles. They give away huge spoilers multiple times throughout the series. The openings can also spoil things like new crew members or upcoming events. Also, in regards to Ace. Luffy almost never talks about the past. He’s not interested in it. Hence why he usually wanders off or zones out when people explain backstories to him. Unless you specifically ask him something he’s not just going to start up a conversation about it. Similar to how he never talked about Garp in the live action.

“Why hasnt he talked about Ace”. Its really as simple as just “Nobody asked him”. Luffy isnt the type of guy to talk about his life or anything. He is more of a person who lives in the moment. So he never talks about his family or back home unless he is specifically asked about it. Hes got his own responsibilities and crew to look out for plus, he’s older and stronger than Luffy so he isn’t just gonna join his younger brothers team especially after he’s spent YEARS doing his own thing. It is sad in a way that he doesn’t want to join but it’s realistic that he wouldnt. He’s got his own life to live
