I have 7 of the 8 volumes in hard copy. Just missing the Priest Spell Compendium Vol III and that one is several hundred at least! Great resources to have for your campaign.

My dyslexia had me read devastating 8th level ADHD spell, and I was like huh, “time blindness” “hyper focused” “weaponised distraction” gave me a good chuckle

This is what I like about 2e AD&D, is that it’s very backwards compatible with 1e AD&D.

I’m definitely adding this to my table. Very cool.

Thanks for the video! An aptly named spell, for sure!

Excellent tip about making rare and powerful spells obtainable only as a form of treasure, as opposed to just letting players thumb through a rule book like a shopping catalog every time they level up.
@docsavage8640Ай бұрын
I didn't know anyone would let a player do that.
@williampalmer8052Ай бұрын
@@docsavage8640 I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. Do you mean no one lets players choose which spells they want to learn?

Whenever a magic-user or illusionist gains a level, they do gain a new spell to add to their spell books. One can either meta game this, or role play this. Magic-users are given the extra restriction that they must roll against their intelligence to see if they can learn the spell. Generally, I don’t mind if the selection is being made from the PHB if a magic-user simply goes through the PHB like a shopping catalogue and chooses a spell that way, as long as they pass their intelligence roll. However, any other spell from any other source (including UA) MUST be RESEARCHED.

We never used any of those books. None of us had them. That is a pretty nasty spell to use right before your "devastating" attack!

40 years of playing just to get to level 16? I'm sure you must have players that rotate though lots of characters. I can't imagine playing 40 years with the same characters on a regular basis surviving that long only to accumulate such little experience. However, the D&D system tends to break down at higher levels so I understand wanting to play with low level characters. One group that I gamed with like to stop at level 12 and then reboot the campaign with new characters after that because they thought that the D&D system got too clunky after level 12.

I didn't say it took them 40 years to get to 16th level. I said after 40 years we have several characters who can cast this spell.

@@page121tabletoproleplaying4 Okay. It's just that you said at 4:44 "...Even at 16th level players, and I have a few, we've been playing this campaign for over 40 years..." So that's how I interpreted that to mean you literally had 16th level players from gaming for over 40 years.

@@page121tabletoproleplaying4I have a magic user that might not make it to level 16 for like 40 years, but by that time he will be 88 years old assuming our 1:1 time holds up!

The only way I do my games is with rotating stocks of multiple characters.
