Sorry to be back on KZbin with not so good news! :( Last few months have been extremely tough for our family. Our whole life was turned upside down in a matter of a few seconds. We were devastated by all the bad news about our Pomeranians' health! 😢 Hopefully things can only get better from here!

I’m a boarded vet dentist and a fellow Pom lover. I see cases like Boo’s all the time. Poms are so susceptible to periodontal disease that often our best efforts aren’t enough to prevent progression of bone loss. Genetics are a huge factor in periodontal disease and our little dogs are just not the best at fighting it off. You are a great pet parent and have nothing to feel guilty about!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us as a boarded vet dentist! Our vet dentist says that he can go back to eating kibbles. Do you think that's good for him now that he doesn't have any teeth left? (well he still has 2 lower canine left but that's it) We are still a bit cautious with the idea of feeding him kibbles so we're still feeding him wet food or moistened and grinded kibbles for now. Also another question for other Pom owners in the community so they can learn from our experience - how frequent do you recommend Poms to get their teeth cleaned?

Good news is Boo is back to his normal happy self now and he seems to adjust to his toothless self quickly. It’s still a long way until Cece can make a full recovery but we’re hoping to be back with a good update soon! 🙏🏻

Wow what a shocking and scary situation!! I'm so sorry that you all went through that but I'm glad Boo is okay now. That was a totally unpredictable situation too so it definitely wasn't your fault!

It was definitely scary and unexpected! I can’t help but thinking I could have done more to prevent some of these happening but I’ve been feeling better these days now that Boo is back to his playful happy self! ❤️

We had a rescue pomeranian who had all of his teeth removed. He adjusted quickly. ((HUGS)) to all!

Aww that’s such a relief to hear! Do you just feed him soft food now? My vet tells me after his 2-week checkup that he can go back to his normal kibbles but I’m not comfortable giving him kibbles anymore :(

Oh this is so interesting to know. I recently bought a pom and called her tinker belle.Bella for short...or tinxi bell bell.....it's a real worry when things go wrong and we have no control. Thank you for your information and advice. Any tips on excesive barking? Every time we go out she barks every time we see another dog? It's embarrassing to say the least. She is so demanding. We go out 2 x everyday. I have never left her yet and she chews picks and bark s excessively? Any advice lol xx xxx she's a full time job! You do fantastically looking at your vidios

Thank you so much for your video it did help me feel better. My Pom boy Graham is 8 and had all but six teeth removed last week. He has his canines left and no tongue hanging out. My Pom girl Rika has to have surgery this week, mammary gland mass removal and spay and dental surgery and cleaning. They say she needs two operations since they can’t keep her under the anesthesia too long to do all three procedures. They are making us do a spay or they won’t do anything. Someone else is paying for it so… she is 13 years old.

Omg I'm so sorry to hear that it must be a super stressful time for you! I feel you! Did the vet recommend the spay surgery to reduce the chance of recurrence of the mammary gland mass? I think having all the procedures at the same time might be a bit too much for her to handle, and as they said she will be under anesthesia for too long which will increase the risks and the side effects so I think you made the right call! Sending all the positive energy and praying that Rika surgery will go well this week!🙏

oh, don´t worry to much! my dog loved to shred sticks, she lost almost all her teeth and only has some in the back left, she still can chew things up. It only takes a bit longer. Eating is also no problem because most of the time she didnt chew it anyways, she gets itty bitty kibble bits and chicken pieces without bones. But it really sucks if all the bad things hapend at once when you have multiple animals, financially and emotionally. But live goes on,and dogs are the best at this. They don´t pity themselfs and they just take it as it is and are still happy go lucky. They manage to adjust to new situations quickly.

I know how you feel, i have two poms and they have the same issues. Watch out for dogs kibbles and biscuits that are high in sugar. Boil large bones and make them to chew on it once a week, it helps clean plaque. Hope your babies feel better. ❤

I have been suffering with my toy poms health too, its been weeks of sleepless nights and trying to figure out how to give her the best treatment, she is just 5 , and the problems started post her spay operation, how i regret it

@@CeceFamily she was completely fit and then the vet convinced us for the spay since we didn’t want puppies, we thought it would increase her lifespan and eliminate reproductive health issues in the future, she is 5 now. The night she had the surgery she was loopy due to anesthesia but the next day the vet told us to get her back to the clinic to give her IV fluid (idk why they said that) and as soon as we took her back she got seizures and puking then she completely lost all her senses and was admitted in hospital for the next 7 days! Doctors don’t know what happened to her because she was completely fine before the surgery but after that, all her organs showed some problem, then they said she has pancreatitis which was triggered due to stress , and eventually she got a stroke we think , now she has complete memory loss , doesn’t recognise us anymore, its so painful for us . We are so confused, she doesn’t like to step out she manifests stress and seizures (she is not epileptic) at home she has sudden behaviour change and very aggressive 🙁🙁initially she had hearing and vision loss too, but they came back in few days , we are truly exhausted and specially its taken a toll on my career since i am unable to step out

I don’t know! :( It’s hard not to think that it’s partly my fault when something bad happens to my fur babies. I feel like I failed to notice (and act on) some of the warning signs for Boo’s teeth earlier and for Cece maybe I could have done better to prevent the accident such as having more rugs inside the house to prevent slipping or supervising her during her zoomies 🥺
