Gotta like the triple 000 buckshot , I use 3" Winchester copper coated out of my Remington 870 with 24" barrel and factory full choke with similar results and those pellets are big and hit a deer like a hammer , great video

@@matttyreeoutdoors This is also my preferred buckshot load. Mainly because it patterns well for me, too. I hunt with a Winchester SX4 which has the Invector Plus barrel and chokes. They are slightly "backbored" to roughly .740. I use a Trulock "Deerstroyer" tube choked to .710, which is an Invector Plus Full choke. It will keep all ten 000 pellets in a pretty tight group on a 16"x16" steel plate at 40 yards. My pattern is a little more open than yours, typically with one flyer that still stays on the plate. Remington Express 000 and a Full choke is a sweet combo.

Hi Matt , The Remington 000 That's the buckshot load I used for deer all the time in my Mossberg 835 Modified choke and Mossberg 500 modified choke that's the kind of pattern I get at 40-45 yd all the time !! The 000 buckshot is the way to go 👍Great video I really enjoy watching!!!

Thats an excellent pattern. Ive found 690ish restriction to work well with buckshot of various size.
@matttyreeoutdoors14 күн бұрын
Yep, my stock full choke is .688, this Buck Kicker is .693, and my Patternmaster Black Mamba is .690 and they have all done great with most buckshot loads
@coyoteodie445814 күн бұрын
@matttyreeoutdoors do you think manufacture is important as much as the restriction? I mean 690 is 690 regardless of who gets it there. But since every combo is different it's apparently just all magic! LoL
@matttyreeoutdoors14 күн бұрын
@coyoteodie4458 Anything can make a difference. Sure, .690 is .690, but different manufacturers can have different tapers, porting, straight rifling, or other little differences that all add up to get different results. I would love to test choke tapers at some point. Like having a short one that tapers fast right at the end vs having a long choke with a slow taper. I think it'd be interesting to see if there's a difference

How about out of a 18-1/2 unch barrel wuth cylender bore choke for bear defense?

Surprisingly enough, I don't currently have a "defensive" style barrel setup like that, but I'll see what I can do

Gahlee, thats impressive as hell. I have an old mossberg 500 with a 24 inch ported vent rib barrel, think this would be awesome to hunt with. By the way do you think you could ever test a gun like what i just talked about with an xxfull choke? Id be curious to see what a 3 inch #4 buck or turkey load would do through that combo.
@matttyreeoutdoors8 күн бұрын
Yep, you definitely can't argue with those results. I don't quite have a Mossberg setup exactly like that, but I'll see what I can do
@chriswigington157213 күн бұрын
I have no idea why but my Remington 870 shoots buckshot to the right like way right every time never left always right but shoots the 3” magnum Remington 1oz slug perfectly straight.!?
@matttyreeoutdoors13 күн бұрын
Do you use a different choke with slugs vs the buckshot? Sometimes different chokes can have different points of impact
