it's honestly sad to see how fortnite went from this cool horror experience, to a fun cartoony world, and then having all that evolution phased out and replaced with this soulless, boring "style" we have nowadays

There are plenty of Gritty games on the market like Rust, PUBG, Warzone, Tarkov and so on, but every game wants to be Fortnite. I love how Donald Mustard describes it as "playing toys with other kids on the front porch" . You decide on how much 'washing down" or soulless you need Cancelar Responder

Im actively making a video on this. I personally think the oversaturation of collaborations ruined the games artstyle. They stripped the game of its unique nature, and made it more boring in order to leave it as a canvas to copy paste any collab content. If your interested I would love to send it over when I finish.

33:40 Interesting that the stuff they pulled back from in this chart, the planar faces, small wide-set eyes, and somewhat less-attractive faces, all became hallmarks of Sea of Thieves' character designs. Also, wannabe character artists take note; that chart is a goldmine.
@borisfeinbrand89376 жыл бұрын
It didn't work for their aesthetic, as they wanted to keep the characters traditionally beautiful, while Sea of Thieves went for a more rugged edge style of characters. Same starting point with different end goals and both were executed very well. Now, wether someone likes one result over the other is completely irrelevant outside of ones own taste. The important part is if it worked, and it did in both cases.

Really cool to see how the game developed into what it is today, but their original game idea looks really cool and since they now have ALL the money, they should go back and make it :D But still, it's almost always the stylized art that makes a good game stand out from the crowd, and simultaneously makes it timeless. Even 10-20 years later, TF2 still looks great, Crash Bandicoot still looks great, Spyro Still looks Great, Kingdom Hearts still looks great.Yes, they added some more polys and higher res textures to the older games, but their distinctive art style will ensure that even in another 10-20 years, they will look great, and Fortnite will join that crowd.
