The fact that the door opens up into the tub wasn't right in the first place for a home of that stature. I think the brick tiles in the kitchen needed to go about 20 years ago. Probably needs all new plumbing and electrical too. Thoes kids are so short-sighted. Have they done the updating and necessary repairs they could have been sold it for far more than they were originally trying to sell it for. No one wants to take on a project at this point with the economy the way it is so they'll be lucky if they can sell it for $4.5 mil. 😢

Native San Franciscan here. It’s fine the way it is. Please don’t ruin it with any modern trendy stuff. Electrical, plumbing, roof, refinish floors, paint. Strip any wood that has been painted over and hopefully it will reveal some more splendor. Edit: no luxo car is going to fit thru that garage opening.

It’s absolutely stunning. I don’t think I would change anything except for infrastructural electrical and plumbing that needed updating. What they’re asking is worth it to have a view like that the only concern I would have is what are my monthly cost or annual costs as far as taxes

Generally property taxes are 5-10% sales price plus any locally voted in assessments. Annual increase max 2% of purchase price. Maint looks deferred but up front spending could secure it for a good 20 years before anything serious needing work.

That's not a fixer-upper. It's in excellent condition. Some of the floors just need some cleaning and maybe a coat of varnish. I'd replace that tacky gold wallpaper, but that's a personal taste preference, not a necessary repair.

Nobody got burn. Did you not listen it's been in the same family for over 60 years. They got it for super cheap years ago. They just asked for more as the market was hotter last year. Now the market has cool down so it is less but no matter what they will always make out like gangbusters even if it drops to 6 million as they probably bought it for $100k. It sold for $7,850,00 on April 11 2024.

Many of the architects care about honoring the original design. Sometimes there are also structural problems to an older house that need addressing as well. Lovely original design. I see no problem in updates.

Not even close. The parts you hear about in the news represent a very small subset of the city. Mainly tenderloin, and a few other neighborhoods out of the nearly 90 neighborhoods in the city. SF has among the highest concentration of millionaires and billionaires per capita that decide to live here-if it was really a zombie dying wasteland, they wouldn’t.
