@Louis Minten No argument from me! That outfit is a design by Royal Black Couture. It is called "Glorious Empire". She couldn't get an outfit especially designed for the tour (as she did for Human :||: Nature) so she got the designer to let her use one of her designs. She doesn't really sell her clothes, instead merely renting them out for things like modeling shoots. I don't know if Floor actually got to keep her outfit or not.

Buenos Aires, Argentina. Most southern actual city in the world is here in Argentina. And Finland is one of the most northern countries in the world. Nightwish is pretty big here in Argentina since 2000's. And they made a live recording here, such a gift. From North to South, From Tampere to Buenos Aires. That's how big Nightwish is. Insane musicianship, insane vocals and an enchanting and compelling story... I absolutely love this song. And a bonus matchup... The Devil plotting his corruption of ocean to steal her power and wreak destruction... The ocean basically faking panic and finally acceptance... The devil and his plans disappearing beneath the waves... Just classic and Marco and Floor make a wonderful villain and heroine pair! Probably this old guy's favorite Nightwish song at this point in time... I've learned over and over that favorite song is a floating concept when Tuomas and Nightwish are involved. Floor has no ceiling, as far as her singing goes. And it's remarkable that when this was filmed she wasn't at 100% fitness, having been ill. But her 80% is still better than most singers at 100%. I don't like the original from the Oceanborn album, but this *is* majestic. No other word suffices.

I fully agree with you. They are the very very best. The world has never seen such a fenominal group of musicians together. They are lonely at the top. And no one makes the tiniest mistake. Any time you here a song from them you might react with "This must be their finest song" . Anytime because they don't do bad songs, only highlights. The audience is pumped up to " unimaginable heights" by them. They are amazing. All of them separately, but not from this world together. They deserve a huge statue to honour them in the centuries to come. Amen.

I've only been listening to Nightwish for 2 years and as I hear a new song it just owns me for at least a week. Every other song they pull off some superhero/Avengers thing. Kai's drumming, Floor's sustain and high pitch (and outfit), Marco's menace. They never disappoint. Thanks for the great reaction!

You may find it interesting to know, that this song is from their 1998 album "Oceanborn", which is their 2nd album ever released. And according to Tuomas it's their first PROPER album. A quote from Tuomas: (Angels Fall First) "was never meant to be released as a proper record. It happened almost by accident, so we decided to put everything into making 'Oceanborn' great." They were so ambitious and excited, that they "overstuffed" the album and the tracks with whatever they could think of. A big thing for Tuomas (at least for a while, maybe it is still) was chasing that innocence they all had back then. As they got more professional and more successful, he always felt like they were missing something from back then. They discussed this in the "End of Innocence" documentary from 2003. This song also had Tarja on vocals with her purely operatic style. And Marko wasn't even in the band. Those vocals were sung by Tapio Wilska. Well, he didn't "sing", he growled them. So, this performance is their modern interpretation. :)

Jukka recorded these drums when the song came out in 1998 and he taught Kai how to do it so, HE WOULD HAVE DEFINETELY BEEN ABLE TO PULL IT OFF LIVE!

This is a very theatrical song and the band pulls it off very well here. Another geat reaction, and I love the banter between yourselves. It always makes me smile. As for the performance, that's not a bass guitar Marko has.....it's a machine gun! Phenomenal hand speed, and singing at the same time! And Kai is replying in kind! At first, this was one of my lesser-liked Nightwish songs, but that was because I didn't listen to it properly. Now, it is one of my favourites. As with all Nightwish songs, the more I listen to them, the more Iike them.

The melody from 7:57 to 8:40 (in your video, no idea what the time code is on the original one) is so wonderfull. By the way, this song was released in 1998 in Oceanborn's track #3. So, Jukka was in drums, Sami (Vänskä) was in bass and Tarja was singing at the time. Tapio Wilska sang in this song parts that Marko sang in the concert. I'm listening the original recording in the background while writing this and to my flawed ears sounds like Jukka keeps up with drumming just fine. This Buenos Aires concert was a part of Nightwish's Decades tour that included lots of older songs rearranged to include Troy or even sing lead.

Hardly any other Nightwish song is so reminiscent of a musical. At least that's how it is structured. There is almost a conversation going on. At some point there should also be a Nightwish musical alongside the Falco and Queen musicals. Their lyrics in all songs would at least have what it takes.

One of Floor's online students has a awesome prog rock band called Scardust. She has some great range, vocal transitions, and even a few growls and the bass player/guitarist really lay down some metal jazz. After listening to Nightwish and Unleash the Archers I love switching to this band. Check out their song "Gone" good stuff.

Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean was written and released in 1998 on the Oceanborn album. Jukka was the drummer. Take a listen to it and tell me if Kai is a lot different than Jukka. And remember, Kai's performance is 20 years LATER. I think Kai is great...but better?
