Brook calling Big Mom "Young Lady" is and will always be one of the absolute *coldest* moments in One Piece in my opinion. Sometimes, the audience is reminded that Brook isn't just a skeleton, but he's also an old man, already being over 80 years old when he meets the crew. But it's unheard of for Brook himself to use his age to condescend his enemies, and for a character like Big Mom, who uses family hierarchy to establish respect, acting as her elder is one of the most direct provocations Brook could possibly offer.

Sanji has always been the kindest. Like even when he made jokes about sacrificing any of the guys just to save Nami or Robin, he always sacrifices himself instead. While Luffy and Zoro rush headfirst into danger, Sanji looks out for others, making sure they are safe and no one falls behind. Maybe other than Luffy, Sanji is the guy who comes to rescue the most ANd Brook is so cool in this arc! Like right now, Big Mom cant just suck his soul out because he isnt really afraid of her

That didn’t look like Sora, it looked like vivi. Plus that ship was hindered of years old. But that was obviously likely just him being reminded of her. Spoilers I stil think that picture was either Lily or one of the members of the Nefaltari family hundreds of years ago. It looked so much like vivi. It just seems too specific to be just a random woman. Oda drew her so we can get an obvious because it might be important. However the St Briss was from North Blue , and Sanji is from North Blue ... so i'd bet he likened her to Sora. Honestly i don't think she look like either Vivi or Sora ... she has that generic NPC OP face in both anime and manga version , unlike them . I'm not saying they all look the same, it's false and a byproduct of the anime series not knowing how to properly reproduce Oda's art style anyway , as seen with Boa's reveal. I just disagree with the claim that she resemble Vivi more than others. Meanwhile the St Briss is still a North Blue ship , and it is more likely that seeing a blonde woman from there triggered some nostalgic feeling about his mother ... I get so sad thinking about this because looking back Sanji really disregarded his own life (his attempted sacrifice against Kuma in Thirller Bark, setting aside his dreams for Zeff, offering himself for Germa). Everything about his backstory just makes me feel sad 😢

Just a correction, Sanji isn’t literally built different in that sense, he was a defect, none of the experiments and such took, so he was just a normal kid, the other kids didn’t get the other enhancements until later in life.

Alicia yet again identifying older men by their grippers. She didn't even have to see them that time. "No, he does care for you" (Sanji to Reiju) I get where you're coming from, but this is realistically how she would think. She, like her brothers, recieved similar issues in her development. Not as severely as her brothers, so her empathy functionaly isn't as severely damaged. If the boys are true psychopaths (not hollywood ones), then Reiju is a sociopath. It's a lot closer to how empathy functions within autism; lower theory of mind and disabled ability to feel alongside others; which makes every interaction more transactional, than emotional based or related to others emotions situationally. So for Reiju, it wasn't so much about feeling bad for him about the "emotional debt to be repaid" but more of a "oh, so that's what it is, he's trying to repay a debt" (rather than it being about emotional familial ties with her). Not that she doesn't care for Sanji or anything like that, it's just that disorders effecting people's empathy operate differently. [I totally missed this until a second rewatch not long ago]. You'll notice, that like psychopaths, they often get called emotionless (which some in the psychiatric industry make mistakes with themselves) like we see them talking about how the procedure would make them emotionless. When you see them, though, just like real psychopaths, they do still exhibit a variety of emotions like anger, and pride. I think the boys are perfect examples of psychopaths, right down to how they're treated by others and their complicated emotionality. Unlike most popular media, Oda also doesn't imply that there's higher intelligence within the psychopaths (psychopaths have a lower average IQ than the population, but due to stories revolving around fringe sensational cases, there's a perception that psychopathy/sociopathy is related to higher intelligence. This is Hollywood, psychopathy in real life is heavily associated with delinquincy (which used to be one of the diagnosis criteria).

Brook vs Big Mom is another one of my favourite fights that the anime extended fantastically. In the manga we just see the beginning, a dialogue exchange in the middle and the aftermath, which was disappointing, at least for me. So the anime showing Brook valiant struggle was a great choice.

i'm convinced that Dressrosa was really a bad day for Brook, like he wasnt feeling himself that day. but now, after the fact, he's out to contribute in a big way, and he's goated this arc as a result. maybe not goat enough to beat Big Mom, but she's an Empress, possibly the strongest of them to be matter of factly, as she has repelled Blackbeard, Whitebeard, Shanks and Kaido from taking over her turf. so the fact that Brook cant handle her, it's nothing for him to feel bad about.

Sanji's brothers are emotionless monsters, but that's because of what judge did to them, they are victims to they just don't know or understand it, because they aren't completely emotionless so maybe what sora did, DID have an effect on them but not the extent of Sanji. so my question is, can Chopper or Law use science - medical science to free them? Maybe there isn't a way to completely undo what has been done, but maybe just enough to give them back their souls their emotions? because this is a weird topic for me, yeah these guys suck and are ass hats, but that's because of what Judge did to them. like in doctor who with the cybermen they were chopped up and modified but had a chip that suppressed what was human in them still, turn that chip off they remember, they feel, and it's horrible and painful but the doctor did find a way to get them back their souls. Even in anime Chrona from Soul Eater, did horrible things and was twisted up and crazy, but that's because of what medusa did to them, Medusa made them a monster, but the tiny embers of humanity that were left were found

So from what I can gather, yes they have emotions, but it’s emotions like empathy or fear that judge feels like is unnecessary. So it’s the good emotions, not just emotionless robots. I would say it might be possible to change that, but only if judge did that himself, but choppers science is more medically and not as science y as judges. If chopper was able to, he could try, but that would mean altering their minds and not their body’s. Chopper is a good doctor, but Sanjis brothers technically don’t have anything wrong with them medically. Just they were altered in the womb to come out and develop those kind of kind personality traits like kindness, ability to be sad or grieve, or have any empathy to anybody, not them selves or even their dad.
