I just got the HD collection on Steam and I played a bit of DMC1 and DMC2 (about 20 minutes each) and I gotta say I prefer 2 over 1. 1 is fun but it really does feel like a Resident Evil mod that turn it into a hack and slash. This is subject to change though.

Hear me out, a bundle of the first three dmc games, with the games going in chronological 3, 1, then 2. Add more voice lines for Dante in 2, increase the difficulty for 2, add a Nelo Angelo mode for 1 and maybe 2, add scene of Dante reminiscing of Vergil in 2, have all of the games HD, make it so you can give Dante different skins/play as dmc2 Dante in dmc3 or vice versa. More fleshing out and secret/special bosses because why not, like being able to fight the decaying hobo Vergil from the start of 5 but inside of dmc2, and add dmc4's intro at the end of 2.

Imagine playing the classic final fantasy 7 and using exclusively the buster sword for cloud, or playing halo and using exclusively the standard rifle you start the game with, or playing castlevania symphony of the night with just the short sword, playing ratchet and clank and just using the blaster/lancer/combuster Variety in weapons is one of the things that makes games fun to play man sometimes because it makes you stronger, sometimes because weapons play to your own skills better, and sometimes because turning massive war robots into harmless sheep is hilarious
