This is why I like dmc games, there are always obscure tricks that never mentioned in the game manual. the developer of this franchise really know how to make satisfying and rewarding combat. Great level design, likeable character, even though nero character is too anime for me, I still love this franchise nevertheless. except for the reboot, even though it has good level design, easier combat but still great one, great soundtrack, better graphic. But the character is freakin worst. If this game doesn't have dmc name on it, I would probably enjoy this game more, but with that new dante and vergil.. I just can't.

@Tim Hanselbach yeah a lot of dmc doesnt work. Virgil lacks MOTIVATIONS (pun intended), most visual effects are set pieces, the story really falls apart as it is set in 2013 rebel phase bullshit, and the best part of the whole game was how good the combat felt, which is honestly only based on how well it ran with very low latency. DMC4SE ran the same and felt WAY better

You have to realize that not all mechanics in a games are always intended. What you can applaud the devs for, is making a combat system with this much potential, freedom, and possibilities. Giving the players the tools to come up with insane stuff that even they didn't predict. DMC4 is a masterpiece in that regard.

I just got this in my reccomended all this time later, back then I had figured out those little frames a little, but now after all these years this information feels so easy to take as someone who does play dmc so often, such a simple track amplifies your damage so much, and Vergil nowadays is the one who causes oblivion to these enemies with his Beowulf xD

Pattariya Wattanakeeree I don't know if it's just me but I believe DMC4 SE is significantly harder than DMC 4 especially on DMD. I didn't play DMD back in 2008 09~ when I played DMC4. But I keep reading old 10/9 year old forum posts and guides-Where people say stuff that never seen to work, for instance: Use B Sword Master on frost to stun and lift, use Stinger to stun before lifting or comobing, use Dark Slayer to block Faust arrows, and so on. Most of this is totally ineffective. Staggering and breaking the combo or guard of Frost, Assault, Alto Angelo - is extremely difficult random and sometimes impossible. Especially Frost. And yet I hear people say the casually hit Stinger, lift or Prop to lift them up after stunning them Could be because I play Turbo too, but these things are super frustrating. The enemies won't stagger and break unless you spam them and usually get hit by others. While the stunned enemies remain stunned for mere seconds. Then counter and hit like a truck. Especially DT Chimera Assault- they can go from stunned to one shotting in a blink.

So, really, really long story short- started as a bug in 3 that lets you get multiple hits in on that upper cut, but fuck it, it is a cool bug that works with the style of the game (character action with heavy focus on understanding the use of your moves as tool, and learning how to use them effectively and stylishly). So they kept it for 4.

I believe it's the same, just that you need to upgrade your uppercut beowulf attack and max concentration. I've managed to pull it off once on that frog boss and it's extremely devastating.

I'm pretty much a noob in DMC, but I just friggin LOVE doing this. (Devil Hunter mode, please bear with me) Got instant SSS style on a ready to explode Blitz, and I think I did away 2/3 of Dagon's total health... both with 1-T-2-3-D. VERY useful. I dunno why some people say it's been fixed in original DMC4 PC, did it lost all those? Looking at what I did myself it seems it's back on DMC4SE PC though.

It's not possible to distort in DMC3 as the Devil Trigger has different properties.You can do a full Devil Trigger Explosion, though.

DRI = the easy way is to DT after the 1st hit. I can do Distorted Dance Macabre, DT b4 the last hit land. Maybe there are other distorted move.

that 'sword attack with lucifer' isnt a sword attack, he is actually throwing a rose (like in the cutscenewhere he destroy's berials gate. it is lock on, back and melee attack (i dont know which console ur using, i use xbox 360) the rose will detonate all swords upon impact and the rose itself does damage as well =] the rose will actually do decent damage on a son of sparda scarecrow. hope this helps

Ransom Seraph basically, starting the devil trigger at different times means you distort different parts of RI, so to get the most damage out of it you need to hit the button for DT just before the second hit and you'll make the third hit distorted

I still like DMC4 more than DMC5, in DMC5 you can't use DRI, you have to switch from modes of the fists to kick, and menus are slow as hell, because they liked to put a video in the bottom, damn! I unlock supercharacters there and get back home, my favorite game DMC4

5 years later, I'm answering this question but also purely speculating, ofc. From what I gather, the reality impact is basically same without DT and in DT. It just does more damage in DT. But if you do the Reality Impact and DT right after the first hit, then during the "distortion" phase due to game mechanics, the normal Reality Impact and Devil Trigger Reality Impact exist at the same time. Meaning it does both the normal Reality Impact damage hits and DT Reality Impact damage hits on top of one another. Simplistically speaking, during distortion there's two Dantes who exist at the same time: normal Dante and Devil Trigger Dante and they both are doing the attack at the same time. It's basically very brief doppelganger.

It's kinda difficult to explain. how about this; Photo/image is 1 frame. While video is a series of MANY frames (images). So when a game says it supports 60 fps (frames per second), it means the game runs with 60 images in every seconds.
