Dante (the original devil hunter/half demon), Nero (the new devil hunter) he had longer hair like Dante but decided to cut it for this game, and V (the newest edition) he has Griffon and Shadow to attack for him but he has to deal the final blow. DMC 1, 3 and 4 are fantastic. Dante has always been cocky, much like Ash from Evil Dead and Deadpool. The ladies are Trish (blonde, demon as well with lighting magic and has the appearance of Dante's dead mother), and Lady (brunette, human devil hunter, first appears in DMC 3. And no, we don't talk about DMC 2 (that was never released nor does it exist). Devil May Cry started life as an early concept for Resident Evil 4. However, the development team was convinced to make it a new game instead because the concept that they were going for incorporated a "stylish action" gameplay that strayed too far from Resident Evil's survival horror roots. Hence, we have the stylish action game series we know and love

Devil May Cry is kinda like one of the founding fathers of the Action Adventure Game and Hack and Slash games. Additionally yes Kingdom Hearts and pretty much all adventure games have some influence from Devil May Cry in them. It's pretty influential despite it not coming around as often as other adventure games

In all honesty Dmc or Devil May Cry is considered by a lot as the undisputed King of all Action Adventure Games while some would argue it's God of War etc. In all honesty most games that we consider to place in the Action Adventure genre come from DMC's DNA case and point Bayonetta is clearly inspired by Dante and Dmc so much so that they reference him in their game. In Bayonetta one you can find books written by a Tony Redgrave and that is an alias used by Dante. I suggest watching the Death Battle Bayonetta vs Dante at some point if you want to see some of his abilities in summary but I would suggest doing so after you finish your Dmc journey if you go on one. Like I would save it for last. Anyway hope you both have a great day.

Oh man, another of my favorite franchises. DMC2 gets a lot of hate because honestly it was pretty bad...but it was my first experience with the series so it'll always have a fond place in my heart. ALL the other titles are absolute BANGERS though...and I feel like DMC5 takes everything leading up to this point and just gives us the best of anything we've ever had. FANTASTIC game. Even though the games have a seriously heavy emphasis on style and intense action, I actually find the stories to be pretty excellent as well. I just really like the characters, particularly in DMC 3, 4, and 5. DMC2 is largely skippable, it doesn't really have anything to do with the main timelines and is pretty much inconsequential. If you find yourself interested enough for a several-hour investment, there are "Cutscene Movies" of each game that compiles the important stuff into a gameplay-edited cinematic experience...but to put it into perspective, I saw a video listed that was all 5 games in an 8.5 hour video. Probably more than you'd care to get into, unless you found you just really liked it. DMC 1 is probably the hardest title, since it's the oldest and they did a lot less handholding back then. You could probably get away with just a "Game Movie" of that one to get the story, and of course nobody here would wish to inflict DMC2 upon you lol. But DMC3, 4, and 5 are all worth a legit playthrough if it struck your fancy. Perhaps a future stream series? Of course it's up to you. :) Oh, another VERY skippable one if you decide to dive into this at all, is the reboot Ninja Theory made called "DMC: Devil May Cry". It was a decent enough game in its own right, but it has pretty much nothing to do with the proper storyline. Different world, different themes, kind of an "alternate universe interpretation" of things that I don't even consider a part of the series. Whatever the case, however you plan to proceed with any checking out of the series (if at all), I'm glad you got to check this video out. It really is a great franchise, with some of my favorite video game characters of all time in it. :) Oh, and a quick P.S: Trish (blonde with the black leather getup) is DEFINITELY more than just a pretty face. She's a badass. ;)

I'm late to the party but a cool fact about the characters you saw here is that they're all modeled after real people! When you get to Devil May Cry 3/4/5, the voice actors also did the motion capture and they're all pretty famous in their respective fields. The voice actors/motion captures for Dante, Vergil and Nero were all former Power Rangers so it makes a full circle back to my childhood. Great stuff. Nero's voice actor is probably also the most well-known English voice actor of all time in anime!

The lore is pretty nuts. The blonde chick trish is a playable character in some entries and she is insanely fun to play.

And another franchise it's about time you've gotten to. Have loved Devil May Cry since the original game on the PS2. Dante is everybody's favorite half-demon demon hunter.😁 A little more info: these games do have gothic horror vibes with grotesque imagery and horrifying moments, but they're less about the horror, more about the action and dark, sarcastic humor, less about scaring you, more about making you feel like a nigh unstoppable badass mowing down hundreds of demons with panache and style. As I said, main character Dante is half demon, and the head of a demon slaying agency called Devil May Cry. The 5 games in the main continuity are one whole story, but told slightly out of order. There is also a sort of alternate continuity origin story/reboot called DmC: Devil May Cry that a lot of people seem to hate, but I love it. It trades in the Gothic Horror vibes for more if an urban fantasy feel with demons secretly controlling the world and a more punky/poppy art style. Cheers!😁

To avoid spoilers, I’ll just slip in a little bit of information about the characters. Dante - The Legendary Devil Hunter with the red coat, guns blazing, hacking and slashing demons is the main protagonist of the DMC franchise. His guns are called Ebony & Ivory and his sword is called Rebellion. As you saw in the trailer he transformed into a demon because he’s a half demon. Nero - The Devil Hunter with the blue coat. He’s also one of the protagonists in the DMC franchise. His sword is called Red Queen which you can rev it up the sword’s handle like a motorcycle to increase its power and it has exhaust pipes on it the releases fire. His gun is a two barreled revolver called Blue Rose. V - The Mysterious One. The new guy in the gang and the emo looking one. His bird, panther and the golem are the ones doing the attack for him cuz he’s too weak to do the hard work but he deals the finishing blow. Trish - the sexy blonde with the black tube and pants. She’s also a Devil Hunter and a friend of Dante. Lady - the short black haired girl with the white jacket who’s the owner of that big ass rocket launcher is also a Devil Hunter and also a friend of Dante. The Devil May Cry games major strength isn’t in the story but it’s really in the gameplay. You kill demons with style and be as slick as you can be.

Devil May Cry pioneered STYLISH combat games. Dante (gambit) is the main protagonist, Nero (robot arm) was the main hero in 4 and the central character of 5, V (the frail guy beastmaster) is a new guy. The Lady and Trish were playable/central to the earlier games but are supporting cast, and Nico (country girl) is your shop mechanic in this story.

If you want something extra spicy about this series that nobody ever seems to talk about these days, look up the Truestyle Tournament vids, especially any from DMC3. Basically the best players in the world playing select parts of the game in a time limit, on the absolute hardest difficulty, and looking absolutely badass the entire way through. For DMC3 there were even different categories for different "Styles", which your character, Dante, would select before a mission and are basically different movesets (Gunslinger, Swordmaster, Trickster, etc).

Fun fact: they used real life models to mold the characters' faces. The developers didn't do complete replicas of their faces 'cause these are established characters but they tweaked the 3D models just enough that they looked like the models and their older video game versions. DMC was the "father" of modern action games, released in 2001. Lots of games were influenced by it, from Kingdom Hearts to God of War and Bayonetta.

The blonde woman who you call "eye candy" is actually a demon named Triss and is one of the central enemies in the first game of the series. She returns in the second game as a playable character on the protagonists side and in the fourth game as a side character but became playable in the special edition. The dark haired woman Lady (not her real name) joined the franchise in third game and acted as a secondary protagonist but wasn't playable in that game. Like Triss, she returned as a side character in fourth game and became playable in special edition. Sadly both were delegated to minor side roles in the fifth game. The series actually had a third (or more accurately first) playable female character Lucia in the second game of the series but that game was poorly received. Although, she hasn't made an appearance in the games since, she was actually in the fifth game's prequel novel, so Lucia is not completely forgotten. She's actually one of the most requested DLC characters despite the poor reception of the second game.

Honestly, Devil May Cry 5 is EASILY my choice for Game of the Year 2019, and possibly my favorite game of the PS4/Xbox One generation. It's the pinnacle of the action and style the series is known for, though it does assume that you have played all the previous games and know the story inside and out. Also, Dante (the dude with the long silver hair in red) showed up in Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite, so you've at least seen him before, since you reacted to it's super moves. seeing Dante, Lady, Trish, and Nero get beat up so easily by the new villain was so scary for us fans who knew how badass these characters are !! especially Dante, at this point in the timeline he had easily defeated god-like demons multiple times, it's like every Tuesday for him, so when Urizen beats him it creates proper hype for the new demon king, i remember a particularly shocking moment for me was seeing Dante's legendary sword the Rebellion get shattered with one punch !!!

First story complete it's just tutorial( this is why Nero get his final form in last mission). DMC 5 suffer from bad level design. I love DMC reboot, but ending... That’s the first three games which were all focused on Dante or as I think you guys called him gambit😂 or just look up the devil may cry 5 backstory movie from the game that is for people who need a recap before going into 5 or people who don’t know anything😆

The franchise is old, so earlier game's cinematics will be very low quality. The basic premise is that Hell and demons exist, "Devil May Cry" is a small group started by Dante (red trench coat, and the main character of the first 3 games, dutagonist of 4, and tritagonist of 5) that takes on jobs to hunt demons. Devil May Cry 5's intro cinematic is good to react to, and it'll give a pretty good idea of the setting of the franchise. Be aware that there was a (failed) reboot called DmC: Devil May Cry in 2013. It's not cannon and we like to pretend that it didn't exist. Devil may cry series is ironically one of the few franchises in recent years that's unapologetically male (god of war is another). A lot of the games now feel like they HAVE to throw in strong female characters along with male ones, but dmc is like nope, we made these male characters, our story has been about these male characters for decades, and it'll stay with these male characters. Trish, the sexy blond, is a significant side character in the first game, and Lady (black hair) is a significant side character in the 3rd game. Nico (glasses) is a side character introduced in the 5th game.

A female equivalent of the Devil May Cry series is the Bayonetta series; similar vibe, but it's (unapologetically) sexy witch ladies beating up Angels. 2 games are out, the 3rd game is being made right now. The Bayonetta series can be considered quite gratuitous, since the witches use their hair (I feel the need to clarify that it's their locks, not body hair, lol) to manifest beasts of the underworld to help them fight, but at the same time use the hair to construct their battle suit; so whenever they unleash these special attacks their cloths would just disappear.

I think only the final trailer should about cover it. Also Special Edition trailer helps. The other trailers are a mix of showing something new and teasing the next trailer. A bunch of repeated scenes and sequences (obviously a filler to avoid spoilers). Also love how you said we don't see enough of the Ladies, there's one lady named Lady (she threw away her name shown in Devil May Cry 3 and took the name Lady because Dante kept calling her a crazy lady). So you can watch them in order to understand the characters if you don't mind repeated scenes but a crowd favorite is Dante because of his cocky personality. He has every reason to be cocky because for the last 4 games he was a walking devil killer. Nero is the main character in this one like the last one, bit of a spoiler to talk about what he is but he's also ashen haired like Dante. Dante wears the read and rocks twin pistols, bike, well...everything. Nero has the robotic arm, had a demon arm first trailer shows that he lost his demon arm. V is the new guy with the sleeveless jacket and cain with DMC 1 summons. Lots of lore and hopefully the comments walk on egg shells because it's easy to spoil. Gameplay wise: Dante is very high skill and could technically do everything, Nero is just raw power (still high skill but not as high as Dante) and does a bunch of grabs and power hits that causes massive monsters to stagger easier than most, V plays far back but he has to go in and do the finishing blow (not his summons) also he's far easier than the other 2.

Favorite game series of all time Definitely recommend checking out other gameplay trailers and the opening cutscene of DMC3. If you plan to play this for yourself then the only cutscene I recommend to you from 5 is the Faust Hat since it won't spoil much at all. If you do play it, hope you do it on video (promise to like each one). What I can tell you is that Dante was the main character of the franchise from 1-3 and co-starred with Nero in 4 and 5. Each character represents their own stylistic gameplay Dante (red coat, long silver hair)- creativity and style. He will willingly use movements that are less effective at dealing damage if they look super cool and has the most diverse set of tools. He always has multiple weapons, multiple styles (Swordmaster for more melee options in general, Gunslinger for gunplay version of swordmaster, Trickster for dodging and movement, and Royal Gaurd for not only blocking but parrying and countering). He's cool, diverse, powerful, quick, and everything else you could want in a character. You can play him as simple or complex as you want and he has by far the highest skill cieling (which is saying a lot since all the characters have loads of gameplay depth). He has an answer to everything and can outskill anyone. Despite being the most powerful, he rarely relies on it often giving very little effort and focusing on having fun. Nero (blue coat, short air dried hair)- Brute force and overwhelming pressure. Nero has 1 sword, 1 gun, and technically 1 style. He simply has one of the best swords, the best gun and the best overall style. He is a very focused character relying on directness and his ability to simple beat out an opponent's options with sheer offense. His sword, the red queen, has an egine that can rev itself to several levels. Timing the rev to the end of his swing can automatically gain levels empowering his attacks, making them faster, stronger and able to hit more often and cover a great distance. By doing so, you can simply make it so Nero's swing will always land before the opponents. Another unique quality is that unlike the other characters Nero doesnott have to move towards the opponent, and instead can pull them in, allowing him to always dominate the pace of the fight. He plays as the straight-shooter of the group but still has his signature punkish vibe despite his clear maturity V (black sleevless coat and vest, black hair... basically poet Kylo Ren)- the easiest of the 3 characters, but also the most unique to the series. A "puppet" character. Rather than having a sword and gun, he has a melee and ranged familiar. Shadow attacks opponents using shape-shifting while griffin utilizes lightning to force enemies to stay at certain distances. The main gimmicks are that his familiars are also his only mode of momvement, meaning you often have to choose between your attack and defense if you let an enemy close the distance, and his familiars themselves cannot finish opponents. Instead V must close in and deliver the final strike, which can leave him vulnerable. Can't say much more without going into spoilers, but I hope this context helps you better recognize what each character can do

You guys need to check out the DmC Devil May Cry trailers, its a reboot of DMC. Its one of the best games ive played and got a ton of hate cause it was a reboot of DMC that no one wanted BUT if you dont listen to the “fans” and try the game, its considered one of the best DMCs to come out , tho some people still dont want to consider it even part of the series. It won a ton of rewards and was even praised by the guys who worked on the mainline DMC games. The director of DMC5 actually wanted a sequel to the reboot game but Capcom ended up making DMC 5 cause that was a sequel fans wanted for a while. Check it out though when you can, its an amazing game. Also im a big DMC fan, played all and I still love both the mainline and reboot game.

Devil May Cry is a Action/Hack 'n Slash game series, where the 1st installement came out in 2001 on PS2. The Game fast paced and stylish combat in a Gothic Horror environement, with Bad ass action and Exploration/puzzle solving, became an instant Hit with players. The game at first was supposed to be a new installement in the Resident Evil franchise (RE3 or 4), but the team had made such nervous and fast paced combat systeme, that the Brasses at Capcom said that it had nothing to do with a Resident Evil game. But thankfully, seeing that they where onto something, they din't scrap the game, the team was allowed to continue working on it and they asked another team to work on the next RE game. WIch is why in the first DMC game evne tho it is an action game, the camera angles are either fixed or follow the player as if on rails, like in a classic Resident evil of Silent Hill game. Its also the origine of the puzzling and exploration in a Gothic horror environement, that was the staple of Resident evil games before. The STory happens in an alternate world, where Demons and the Underworld are things. 2000 Years prior when the Demon World was invading the Human World, one of the Strongest Demons, decided to side with the Humans and to protect them, driving back alone the forces of the Underworld and taking down the Dark Emperor, Mundus. His name was Sparda, and he was knowed after that as the Legendary Dark Knight, he reigned over humanity for millenia. Until one day he took a human woman has Wife and got 2 Kids, Dante and Vergil. After that he dissapeared in mysterious circumstances, and his wife, Eva, was later killed by the Underworlds minions, DAnte and Vergil where separated and grew up apart. Dante became a Demon Hunter, using his Hybrid nature and Demonic Powers, he opened a business named Devil May Cry( after somethign that someone once said about him, that he's so strong that he can even make devils cry) At the start of the 1st game a mysterious woman come to his Shop, duel with him and then offers him information about Mundus ressurection and resurgence into the Human World on a distant and isolated Island, called Mallet Island... The DMC game was so popular in the action/hack 'n slash genre, that when the first God of War game came out it was categorized as a "DMC-like". The franchise as seen a couple of lows ( DMC 2 was a dissapointement for the fans and DmC who was a soft reboot made by Ninja Theory studios, the guys who made Hellblade Senua, wich while not a bad game was not popular amongst the fans), but it is still one biggest and most beloved franchise for the Playstation players. Both the 3rd and 5th game are highly praised by the fans, with the 3rd game that is responsible for a LOT of the crystalisation of the current game franchise Lore and characterisation. LIke games like Doom or God of War, it is a game that makes you feel like an absolute bad ass.

My recommendation for playing the games is DMC3, DMC1, DMC4 and then DCM4. Skip 2, it does not exist don’t talk about it. DmC devil may cry is fine just play the definitive edition and treat it like it’s separate from the franchise just using the series characters

Unfortunately the Devs wanted to focus on the guys this time around. There were at one point plans for dlc focusing on the three of them but as of now nothing. DMC4 did have them playable and the first game and the third respectively. There is a fourth and even fifth girl but due to story reasons they're not involved with this game and maybe even later ones. If you want some other trailers there's the Story trailer and the Special Edition Launch trailer for 5 which both do a good job of showing story and gameplay. The Special Edition trailer however does spoil a bit but it's nothing yall'd understand with yalls limited knowledge. As for non trailer options, there's a couple videos featuring Dante series protagonist shit talking demons through the series. There's also this one video that shows off the gamplay well in a very cinematic way with some voice lines from the fight spliced in. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJDHaIB-rt-nd8k That second to last fight is one players are able to play both perspectives of so the video poster was able to get a lot of good shots. DMC is one of those games where you're as strong as the Boss but the two of you are pretty powerful the boss just knows the combos.

dante is the guy who turned into a demon , he was the main character in the series before they represent nero ( the first one in the trailer), he is a son of the dark knight demon sparda and a human woman named eva , and his got a twin brother named vergil ( badass), after his father disapeared , and in age of 8 , they attacked by a bunch of demons and kill there mother and seprate the 2 brothers (dante an vergil), these demons was ordered by the demon king mundus who fight sparda and lost to him in his battle to rule the human and the under world , anyway nero was represented in dmc 4 , as new character , we learned that nero is also a descendent of sparda , so in dmc5 we learned the reason why he related to dante and vergil , i will not spoil it if you want to play it . the lady with blond hair is trish (demon hunter) , she is a demon too and resemble to eva (dante's and vergil's mother), there is also lady , she is not in this trailer but she have a huge rocket launcher and a demon hunter. and finally there is my favorite character vergil , he is unlike dante , he is surious and want power if you want to see him you should react to dmc 5 special edition launch trailer.

Dante (red jacket) is half demon. Nero (blue demon) is 1/4 demon. V (emo) is human but can summon three demons. Dante's thing is he has a lot of weapons and four styles to switch in between. Neros thing is he only has one sword and one gun but a lot of cybernetic arms that give him extra abilities. V's thing is being human he can't directly fight so his three demons fight for him. However his demons can't finish off them, so V has to after his demons weaken them. Dante is a smartass who likes to taunt his foes, Nero is a bit of a punk and extremely aggressive. And V really likes poetry. As in you can read from a book of poetry while his demons are fighting.
