An ex-Marine with a secret life and a secret wife. A five-year investigation turns on shocking DNA evidence - is the one-time hero a killer, too? "48 Hours"' Peter Van Sant has the latest in the case. Watch more full episodes of "48 Hours" on Pluto TV.
“Yvonne Baldelli disappeared from a tropical Panamanian island in 2011. The last person to see her alive was her ex-Marine boyfriend, Brian Brimager. I got involved in this fascinating investigation early on, with Yvonne’s family certain she’d been a victim of foul play. We’re with the family step-by-step as they discover that emails sent from Yvonne - allegedly from Panama - actually were sent from where Brian Brimager was now living in California. I confront him on camera in a supermarket parking lot.” - Peter Van Sant on why the story is important.

@@bambinaforever1402 So after watching this video, the victims sister thinks she may have overlooked an email (which could mean anything, maybe the email went into a spam folder, she could have marked it as "read" by mistake, ANYTHING could've happened) and because of this, you feel that she wasn't a loving sister? She literally fought tooth and nail to find the answer to what happened to her sister. She testified KNOWING how hard it was going to be for her, she even passed out because it took so much out of her. She fought for her sister until her dying day....I don't know how you could even question her being a loving sister. How disrespectful..

I wonder if she’s just trying to hold on to the image she had of him, and them as a family. I’m giving her a small benefit of the doubt that maybe she’s unable to truly process all that happened. Michelle spending her last moments avenging her sister, is the shining example of sheer determination, strength and fortitude despite her ailing health. Bryan Brimmager really took both sisters away, and he deserves to rot in prison for eternity. RIP Yvonne and Michelle, the Baldellis sisters might be gone but they're far from shattered. May they rest in peace in heaven, they'll missed dearly. However for Kristen Workhoven who stills stands by her so damn guilty husband till today, showing her any compassion is such an insult to humanity, UGH!! I don't think it's soap. Equating concern and encouraging women to be mindful with soap is an insult. Normally we don't go around searching for all things negative and red flags. But it seems in this day and age, that isy what is needed. Here we've got to a point where the wife - become so under dubious circumstances, plays ostrich politics - ie denial. Burying head in sand. It seems she is not disturbed by harbouring, sleeping with a calculating murderer and liar. Without regard for her own child. Very disturbing lack of morality

His wife is putting herself in such a denial and “prison of her own “. There’s a whole new life beyond her husband who is a killer . What future would you have with such a person who gets out in 2037? He never confessed and owned up to his evil . Why would he ever change? Prayers for her to find true happiness and healthy for her daughter .

Sisters forever. This story made me so sad. The fact that Yvonne's sister testified and said these words, "all of this on camera forever and played over and over and over again" that was literally a chilling moment that "Brians's family, friends" will forever see on youtube....justice was served. A complete coward, that he could not choose 1 woman over the other, and the wife is like delusional. He cheated on you and lived a double life, he will definitely do it again to YOU.

Me too! UGH. I was cool listening to the story; they mentioned cancer, my heart dropped. But the moment they showed her in court looking so weak and sick and knowing she would have yanked hospital tubes off her to be in that courtroom and the fact that she passed out right after giving testimony and then died not long after the verdict~COMPLETELY SHATTERED ME! Just finished a whole Kleenex box, UGH. 😢 I know for sure that she somehow held on to see that day come to pass and after that day, her work here on earth was done and she was now ready to go on and be with that sister she so dearly loved! 💔💔💔 Literally, this case was solved BECAUSE OF HER SISTER, plain and simple, no doubt. This broke me like the story of that lady who relocated to Mexico and found herself a cute lil’ hubby with a sombrero in tow, and big ranch; perfect for her. They were doing so well and were happy, then her hubby was randomly kidnapped one day! Lord knows that man was tortured (from pics sent by the abductors and ofcourse what he later recounted to her. He was gone for like a year or two which was also daily torture for her as well. She did EVERYTHING to try and “save him/ get him back!She sold just about every single asset she had including borrowing against her house to also pay private investigators to try and help her find him. All the while, continuing to try and pay off his abductors who continued to ask for more money She then FINALLY found him! Less than 100 pounds later, and very unrecognizable, she nursed him back to health. So now they finally were going to go into the sunset and live happily ever after (in the U.S. this time) right? Wrong. She gets cancer not long after this whole debacle and then dies! 💔💔💔 (Can’t remember her name but that story broke me as did this one!)

This is such a heartbreaking story. I truly hope the two sisters' souls are in a peaceful and happy place, and their parents' pain for their losses could lessen each day. That wife is a delusional pathetic coward and the murderer wasted completely his chance to be a human. 27 years is way too light for what he has done. What is wrong with the justice system in the US?

Does anyone know if they ever investigated the 'new wife?' She was either pregnant or had a child with him before he left right? Her refusal to talk along with the fact she has stayed married to him I immediately felt she was somehow involved. Also that child will someday know this story and that the mom stayed with a killer. How horrible!

This 48 hour episode made me cry. For so many reasons. 26 years in jail is a joke. And wife still loves him ,wtf. Rest in peace young lady and sister. Thank you f.b.i. and everyone involved

26 years for a precious beautiful life... that hardly seems like fair compensation. Peace to Yvonne and to Michelle
@daysiewaysie
@daysiewaysie Жыл бұрын
an afterthought... there is no compensation that can be afforded to the victim's relatives, there is only the consolation that comes from the caging of a murderous brute for the remainder of their life, so that they are never again able to live freely as a self-deterministic agent. Sadly this murderous brute will be out on parole, indecently too soon.

My dad left my mom, me and my 5 siblings ! I was entering college and my younger sisters were about 15 years old. My younger sister was almost trafficked, if it wasn't for my sister who's gut instincts kicked in and tracked down the man that had her captured, she wouldn't be alive. The love of a sister is like NO OTHER. I'm so happy these sisters loved each other so much. Michelle is a hero.

My heart goes out to the family! Such a horrible horrible tragedy! On a side note. I am so embarrassed for the people who chase “bad guys” down asking lame questions they know won’t get answered! I hate that part of true crime shows.

Such a sad sad case all the way around. What courage Michelle had,,, to her dying day, to fight for her sister. My sister would say “Who?” And not give two schitts. So so sad for their father who lost not one but two children. I hope the family can get some much needed peace. RIP Yvonne and Michelle. They’re together up there watching over their loved ones....❤
