The original version of this is such an epic and progressive statement of coping with loss of his friend at the time. This version is that same statement, but with the knowledge and articulation of being sensitive to the intention of the memories of his friend. In otherwords, Devin's musical sentiments age with him, like a fine wine, or even a fine black coffee

Love these acoustic versions of some of his songs - like 'Hyperdrive' he did on the live 'Retinal Circus' DVD/CD. Can't say this is better or worse - just a different version that provides another perspective of the song. 'Ocean Machine' is definitely one of my favorite rock albums of all time. It's up there with the very best ever.

No. That's just a stock JYM86CTS. His Custom baritone Yairi is a combination of that guitar and the one in the background, the FYM96C. The baritone is a longer scale length (27" I think) and jumbo body but has the distressed spruce top, ovankol back and sides and ebony fretboard like the FYM96C.
