@@GhostDrummer not exatly, he does more fry scream with the years... most of the lines that supose to be clean he does them with fry, it looks like he is losing his clean range. Only in his mid register he use it. For example on the end of Why live he doesn´t hit the last pitch with his clean vocals

Every time you all do a Dev song, I plead with you to please do “Funeral / Bastard / The Death of Music” from this RAH concert. After 62 years of listening a lot of music, this trilogy ranks #1 on my list of all time best songs & performances. Yes, it is about 25 minutes for the whole thing, but they must be experienced all at once to get the full effect. So much is happening in these songs, so many changes and little things going on, that I am still getting something new from it every time. Nothing else even comes close. The Plovdiv performance is also epic, but the RAH one gets the nod for the energy, cinematography and the stage. I know you all like to take ideas from the sponsors who pay, and I would because I love you guys, but I cannot right now. I can bake you some cookies… Come on DevHeads, back me up on this. Let them know how exceptional this is and what it would mean to you to see them react to it. Thanks!

all 3 songs are so good but when he ends with the death of music it just hits so hard. it's hard to explain but if you are in the right or maybe wrong headspace the death of music will bring you to tears.
@lananiella2 жыл бұрын
@@mikemustdash It still does. Dev's vocal performance on this song is (in my opinion) the greatest one ever. He is so emotional and gives such a moving authentic theatrical rock opera dramatic delivery. If this was in a movie, he would win an Oscar. Even when he is delivering the same lyric in the 2nd half of the song ("Don't die on me..."), he gives each line a different emotional interpretation. Astounding. You can tell he is feeling every moment of this. One of my fave parts is the closeup of the goosebumps and hairs standing up on his arms.

He won’t be fully appreciated until he’s gone I’m afraid. That’s the level of talent we’re dealing with here. Seen him so many times love including unplugged with nothing but an acoustic, and he really can do it all. He’s a musicians musician

I know the screems are impressive but my favourite bit of that is his guitar tone. Love the sound of his guitar in this. Especially at the start. So chewy and there.

God I love how expressive Travis is. Honestly this is my favorite Deadhead reaction, God that this was so enjoyable! I also appreciate the fact that you react, really listen and enjoy a lot of different music. Not many people are that open minded when it comes to music. Also your music's great too! I follow his art since he was the guest vocalist on that Steve Vai album and when he started off with Strapping Young Lad and his solo stuff. Devin is just so brillant. I saw him in 2019 in Berlin with his band, touring for "Empath", a few months before the pandemic. And it was so intense, so good.

He wasn’t just a “guest vocalists” for Steve Vai, he was THE vocalist for the band that Steve had called “Vai”. For some reason, though, on iTunes it’s listed under Steve’s name and not under the band name. (I was already a fan of Vai by then, but discovered Devy with that project. (The band was filled out with Terry Bozzio on drums & T.M. Stevens on Bass)

@@chrisp.14 🤣 Chill? Dude, I was far from being "spastic" or from any other condition that would require a suggestion to "chill..." 🙄 The only reason I mentioned those little factoids is because some people might not realize that Steve had formed a band for a short time. I'm not referring to the backing musicians that could be referred to as a "band", but one that was actually given a name..."Vai". Yeah, I used your terminology of "guest vocalist", but I didn't tag you in my comment...so I wasn't addressing you directly. You may or may not have known the information I provided in my statement...but then, I don't care if you did either way. 😁 (See? SEE? Now I'm being a bit "spastic" and therefore probably need to "chill" at this moment. 🤣) What does it all mean? It means: Have a nice day!

Love you Guys - It's crazy that you've done a bunch of Devin, and you still haven't heard a fraction of what he's capable of vocally. The records are excellent - but the live performances are so emotional and intimate. And he just gets more versatile every year. Always a great time here Cheers!!

To say I was gobsmacked is an understatement...thank goodness you get it.
