The singer Michael Hutchence died in 1997 😢

That's very interesting what you're picking up on the cemetery. Andrew wrote the music and Michael wrote the lyrics right about the time after his breakup with his early life girlfriend. It was a loss. But young age and R&R touring made a lifestyle she didn't want to live. They remained friends until his passing. His family has said she was his one true love.

Michele rarely gets mentioned. Usually it's Kylie, Helena, or Paula but she was Michael's one true love. She was the last one who actually came to his hotel room when he called but unfortunately she didn't make it in time to prevent his suicide.

So glad you finally did some INXS. So many great songs to explore - Need You Tonight, What You Need, Suicide Blonde, Devil Inside, Mystify, Disappear, The Loved One, Original Sin, I Send a Message, Don't Change, By My Side plus many more. INXS were a great live band and it's worth checking out some of their songs live from Wembley Stadium. Suicide Blonde, What You Need and The Loved One are great examples from that concert.

Great reaction! You started with one of the greatest Ballads ever! Most of their songs are much more up tempo! Should always try and watch them live. They are so tight and Michael's voice is much more powerful live! What You Need live Wembley stadium 1991 is a must!

One of the greatest frontman of all time....smooth, silky, and just meltworthy vocals. The whole band could sing live, with great song writing (wrote all their own songs), and played a variety of their own instruments. Michael Hutchence (lead singer) was actually a poet, a very sensitive, good, loving soul and didn't want to become the lead singer of this band. I do also love that they spoke of God and Christ but were not christian singers, they were not afraid to show it. We are forever changed because he chose to sing. ❤

The singer passed away years ago.. what a loss😥😥
@dee-smart3 жыл бұрын
The music was written by keyboardist Andrew Farriss, who recorded a blues-style demo; vocalist Michael Hutchence wrote the lyrics. "Never Tear Us Apart" is a ballad, written in the tempo of a modern Viennese waltz, layered with synthesizers and containing dramatic pauses before the instrumental breaks. Kirk Pengilly lends a saxophone solo near the end. According to the liner notes of Shine Like It Does: The Anthology (1979-1997), the song was composed on piano as a bluesy number in the style of Fats Domino. Producer Chris Thomas suggested a synth-based arrangement instead. The video for the song, featuring an extended intro, was filmed in various locations in Prague along with "Guns in the Sky" and "New Sensation", all directed by Richard Lowenstein. The single reached #24 in the UK, and stayed on the charts for seven weeks. In the U.S., it reached #7 on the Billboard Hot 100. After Hutchence's death in 1997, his coffin was carried out of St Andrews Cathedral by the remaining members of INXS and his younger brother Rhett as "Never Tear Us Apart" was played in the background. In February 2014, after the Channel 7 screening of INXS: Never Tear Us Apart mini-series, "Never Tear Us Apart" charted again in Australia via download sales. It peaked at #11 on the ARIA Singles Chart, surpassing its original peak position of #14 back in 1988. In January 2018, as part of Triple M's "Ozzest 100", the 'most Australian' songs of all time, "Never Tear Us Apart" was ranked number 18.

Just add a bit more - INXS were one of the very top rock bands in the world in the late 1980's and into the 90's before Hutchence's untimely death in Nov 1997 recorded as suicide but I think murder in a Sydney Hotel Room. His last time rehearsing with the band is on youtube too the day before he died. They played to 74000 in Wembley and a lot of that concert is available to watch on youtube too. The band were top drawer and some could play multiple instruments. The sax player is Kirk and he is also on the electric guitar as well. Andrew Farriss wrote all the music and collaborated with Michael on the lyrics. Andrew could play 5 instruments I believe, but mainly on keyboard.
