Devious Diesel's Theme (Series 3)

This one was always one of the more simpler revisists of the themes from Clearwater era, aside the woodwinds and percussion at the start and end of the theme, it was pretty much left the same as it's Series 2 counterpart. I took a little creative license though by layering the lead with the oboe in the second half just to make it feel more 'S3' as well as extra use of the Vibraslap. The vibraslap is a nice touch from Mike & Junior though, it's slightly comical to me but adds to the sneaky demeanor that Diesel has.

He already had that nasally voice done by Michael Angelis since he took over Ringo in Season 3 when the episode "Diesel Does It Again" was released based on a magazine story. While I do definitely prefer Ringo Starr's voice for Diesel and it's one of the few where he exceled and surpassed Michael by far compared to other characters, I actually favour this episode as my favourite Diesel episode of all the series, even more than his original appearances based on the Railway Series from "Duck and the Diesel Engine" in "Pop Goes the Diesel" and "Dirty Work". I just think it's a great return for such a nasty great character just doing what he does best only that this time he has nothing to hide and is basically torturing them and being a bully on purpose but we finally see him really screw up and get the comeuppance he deserved in his original storyline!

This theme just so perfectly works with George Carlin's narration and characterization of Diesel. Rev. Awdry wrote Diesel as a scheming trickster from the beginning, and this theme coupled with Carlin's "oily voice" characterization of Diesel fit like a glove. I absolutely despise how they turned Diesel into a comic relief villain in the CGI series, and his voice in that series doesn't fit at all (his VA is fine but the character itself just does not work well).
