I bought this saw to live in the box of my atv while out on rides and it is perfect for clearing an unexpected tree that has fallen over the trail. A 16in Oregon bar and chain fit on it too for some added length
@themostlymikeshow2 жыл бұрын
I'm very impressed with its performance. At some point, I will probably get a 9ah or larger battery for bigger jobs. The 5ah and two 4ah can get me through most stuff. Ash trees are dropping everywhere and taking other trees down with them.

The oil leak is a real pain, does putting the o-ring in stop the leak ?
@themostlymikeshow2 жыл бұрын
It apparently does Southern Monkey. Someone else just mentioned that in the comments. It's one of those things that I meant to do, but always get sidetracked. I will be doing a review/test on a Dewalt battery knockoff brand soon, so I will try to put one on and make mention in the video. Thanks for watching!
@vasathens Жыл бұрын
@@themostlymikeshow Using an O-ring prevents oil leak but creates under pressure that has negative effect on chain lubrication. Dewalt suggests to drain the oil after use for that reason. I suggest to store the chainsaw leaning on the side if you don’t want to drain the oil.
@themostlymikeshow Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advice! That really makes sense. I put an o ring on it, but I never really checked whether it was actually using the oil or not afterwards. It's funny that I was doing just as you mentioned by setting the saw down on its side, and my friends with OCD would come over and set it the way you normally would. I had to tell two of them that it was deliberately laid down sideways, ha ha. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I got a12" chains and was not able to get the 9Ah MAX 20 20 volt Batteries as everyone was sold out so I got the 12Ah 60v/20v Flexvolt batteries that will work in both the 16" 60V Chainsaw and the 12" 20V Chainsaw. I am also using Canola Oil to lubricate the Blade. The Chainsaw works very well and seems to have quite a bit of power. The only downside is that it is a pain to clean up.
@themostlymikeshow2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Gee Zee! I mainly use mine for trail building and cleaning up dead trees that fall across the trail. I just have the 5Ah battery for now. I'll bet that they really run for a long time with that 12Ah battery. Was it expensive?

Funny I own the same saws. I just bought the Dewalt because it was cheaper than batteries for the Black and Decker. So now I have two. Which mean I can cut all day long.
@themostlymikeshow Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and sharing Johnny. I had the exact same scenario. I still have the Black & Decker chainsaw and the hedge trimmer. The batteries don't want to work well enough for the chainsaw, but the hedge trimmer for some reason can run all day on the batteries. I will definitely buy the DeWalt hedge trimmer when either the batteries fail or the Black & Decker hedge trimmer fails. The batteries above 5 amp hour for the DeWalt are no joke.

@@themostlymikeshow I bought some 3.5 ah from Amazon. Powilling brand. They work much better than the B&D batteries. It still a great saw. I cut hundreds of trees with it over the past few years.

Great video! I just got the Ryobi version for Christmas (as I already have Ryobi power tools). Not used yet, but hoping it's a lot more convenient than hauling out and screwing around with the gas chainsaw. Most of my need will be cutting small stuff anyway.
@themostlymikeshow2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Garry. As you can see (and have seen) my workload for battery chainsaws keeps growing. I'll definitely be purchasing one of the 60v flex options for this saw, and likely do an update to this video, probably building a log pyramid which will require a lot of cuts. It will make a good endurance test for the battery.

You need to put an o ring on the oil cap. They don't do it at factory. THere is a grove for it on the cap so it won't leak.
@themostlymikeshow2 жыл бұрын
Yep, I've been meaning to do that. They sure do leak oil without one. A couple people mentioned that in the comments. Thanks!
@davido3403 Жыл бұрын
Don't bother there is an o-ring from the factory its in the oil tank neck not on the cap. If you put one on the cap you will just be pushing one o-ring into another. I am just going to have to make my own video! @@themostlymikeshow

I think it is a good product for cutting 15cm diameter trees and branches. A pity that here in Europe everything has a really high price
@themostlymikeshow Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Ollie. I just filmed a video using a 16 inch bar on this saw. I used a Husqvarna bar and the usable length was about 15 inches, which is about 35 cm. I cut up a tree using two different batteries and I showed how many Cuts you can get using that bar. That video should be coming out in the near future.

Did you do all of those cuts on the same battery pack?
@themostlymikeshow2 жыл бұрын
I should have clarified in there what was what... The cuts that were made with green leaves and vegetation (dark blue sweatshirt) were made on one charge with the 5AH battery. The cuts made when I was wearing the Camo where the trees were baren was a single charge with the 5AH battery. It was pretty impressive how many cuts that it made on that battery. I did not point out that the battery area of the saw has plenty of room to stick the big toaster size batteries that they make up to 15AH. I am buying the 9AH soon. I believe that it will be capable of muscling through almost any Trail disaster.😎

@themostlymikeshow Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and sharing your story Blue Steel Worx. These saws really came a long way. I love them for trail maintenance because they're quiet and they always start on the first pull... Of the trigger provided that the battery is good. They run amazingly long on a full charge considering what they do. I have a couple more videos on this saw, one with the Dewalt 10ah battery, and one with an off brand 9ah battery, both cutting consecutively until it stalls. Both performed remarkably.

Leaks chain bar oil
@themostlymikeshow2 жыл бұрын
Yes it sure does crad b. There's a fix out there that I haven't tried yet. There's an O-ring groove, or at least what looks like one on the cap. They say to find one that fits the groove that has to be stretched so it thins out. I usually store mine laying on its side with the cap up, and it doesn't leak. If I forget to do that, I usually have a little puddle underneath it. As good as they make the rest of the saw performance-wise you'd think that they could perfect that somehow. 🤷
