I love how the instructions say don't cut above your shoulder and here he is doing exactly that lol

I learned long ago there is a great risk of a kickback into your skull, collar bone or shoulder. An experienced friend recently had this happen cutting high brush. The kickback tore the tenon in her right should and surgery happened last week. Wear a hard hat and change to a pole saw if you need to cut about your shoulders. Safety first above risk.

There are lots of instructions on things I don't follow. Ever see a box that said don't eat the desiccant packet in the box? You know somewhere somebody must have. 🤣 But some warnings are because of lawyers, and some are really needed. Everyone should work their equipment according to their own skill set. 😁

Sorry to hear that about your friend. Hope she heals up good. I don't let my wife run any saws for this reason. She doesn't have the upper body strength to hold onto it.

i got one for camping on state land. harvesting firewood from downed trees and i dont bother the other campers. 2 -5ah batteries lasted enough to fill my truck 3 times.

So you know tools have been shown actually perform better with higher amp hour battery. Specially with tools that draw more power, the larger battery can dispatch its power more quickly and hold up the the increased power draw much better

True. Just trying to show what can be done with different size batts in a pinch if you needed to. Don’t always have a big one charged up and ready.

Really great review, I need one to go to Sam Houston State park (Huntsville,TX.) when I go atv trail riding and often run into a small fallen tree on a trail as well as around the house to trim a fallen branch which happens often as well...bought the Ryobi and as you said the Dewalt does have more power so ill return it to HD tomorrow and get one like yours...thanks!

I found your review because we just recently denied TWO of these-the boxes were in such poor shape that I could see the saw. 😅 Wanted to see how it was originally packed. Probably would have been fine-but looked risky for sure. Hubs ordered this one for me! Lol, looks like I’ll be able to fine tune some trees and take out saplings on our hilltop property. How’s it holding up for ya??

Did I hear you correctly, $149 for the 5Ah battery? Usually the US is better priced than the UK, but that’s expensive.

If I remember right it was $149 for the tool AND the 5 amp hour battery box and the 5 amp hour battery is $100 alone. So might as well get the tool and battery. But that was some time ago.

When you are tightening the bar adjusting knob, there does not seem to be this click feature for preventing over tightening. So it works the same way as mine. The manual says that there should be this feature, so I have been wondering is my saw faulty.

yah i got mine through home depot for 99.99 and they shipped it to my house and the box was destroyed!! but the chainsaw was fine!

@@PawPaws_Place the pole chainsaw attachment that fits on the 60v flexvolt power head just became available. That is the power head that normally sell with a string trimmer attachment. It would be great to see a comparison between the 20v and 60v flexvolt. The chainsaw head shapes are different. The 60v is straight.

@@PawPaws_Place I'm far from an expert, but the original version had a clutching blade retainer that clicked when you reached the "correct torque". It got such terrible reviews for not being tight enough and the blade working loose that the new version does not click when you tighten it.

My dozer operator is still charging the same. And I found a smaller excavator that can still get it done for only $850 a day and no delivery charge. There's deals to be had out there if you look.

Chain saw nearly caught my garage on fire because the internal motor had caught on fire within the first few minutes of use. I'm a vet and disabled and Dewalt nearly killed me with this POS. I've tried posting this post for an hour detailing the issue and guess what? I can't. Only bubble gum and butterflies in the grand corporate overlords office. Honestly, this device caught fire the first power up and use. I turned it on for 1 second the evening before to confirm power. Received my oil lubricant. Poured it in the pole saw I purchased with this. On a Home depot credit card which I'm going to cancel now because this whole purchase is just trash. Nearly burning down my house because you can't pay a non-communist nation to build your trash. My lawyer has been contacted about the matter. Device has been returned and I will not take this laying down. Especially after spending thousands on power tools for this company. They nearly burned my home down. WOW.

I read your comment and was really concerned because I would like to think that DeWalt would honor their products. Then I watched your video and I had two questions floating around in my mind. First was how could that have caught your house on fire, I mean really. Second was why won’t DeWalt honor a warranty on it. Seems like should be able to take it back and get a replacement. Now as to the language in your post. I will give you the opportunity to remove the curse words. If you do I will leave it up. If you don’t then it and my response will both come down.

@@PawPaws_Place I had placed the device inside the garage while a electrical fire was going on inside of it and I was charging the battery thinking it was my problem. Turned around to the smell I know oh so well from fire engineering days. Just because the unit didn't have power, didn't mean it didn't have a chance to combust further. And they can get better hardware for the internals. I didn't care to disect it further or would have done a AVE breakdown. I just wanted my money back. Which home depot did take care of. Dewalt is MIA as they are not at work during the lockdown. So if your tool burns down your house. They are no where to be seen. Also, i'm a east coaster from miner region. Cursing to us is like drinking water. Will give that a change. Curses should be gone now.

I think DeWalt should at least respond. It seems they could at least acknowledge what happened and express thanks that you did not have any greater problems than you already faced. I am glad Home Depot did let you return it for a refund. I would expect nothing less. I think maybe you got one of the very few defective ones. But at last maybe in this world where corporations are afraid of law suits DeWalt can't really respond. But either way I am glad you and your house were not injured and that you got your money back. The housing that melted on this saw is made of cast metal on the pole saw. Soooooo. Ya know. Much better. BUT I BROKE A CHAIN TENSION BOLT ON IT!!!!! Returned and replaced because it worked so well. Going to use my bike torque wrench to get my ft lb's proper. And I'd appreciate to hear back from them. It's kinda mean spirited to remove the 99$ sale tag and have it catch fire. At least catch fire for the sale price. I wouldn't be so mad.
