I got the 772 a couple months back, but the 777 kit dropped in price to about $55 more than the 772 kit was, so I returned the 772 and got the 777 kit instead. I used the 772 a few times while I had it and it was a huge upgrade from my 20V blower. It was noisier for sure, but I didn’t realize by how much until I got the 777. With the 777, it’s almost hard to notice it being more powerful since it’s not as loud, but I was able to get more stubborn leaves out that were stuck between rocks than the previous blowers. On full power, it’s not as drastic of a noice difference, but it’s still not as loud. Now the delay to get to full power, that is a noticeable difference between the two models. It’s it a huge deal? Meh, not really…more of an annoyance. The size is also a noticeable difference between the two as well. Would I have bought the 777 kit full price for the $399? No, but for only $55 more than the 772 kit ($209), it doesn’t make much sense not to get the new model at the current price point (777 kit comes with a 12ah battery, the new 2-stage 4 amp charger, the strap and the 2 tips, VS a 9ah battery and older DCB115 4 amp charger). It really should come with the 6 amp charger, but that would have probably made the kit more expensive. The only downside to the 777 is if you liked having the variable trigger lock thing and not having to mess with the dashboard, but I feel like it’s a non-issue once you use the it a few times.

I got the 777 last month. I was using the DeWalt 20 V 720 before this. They’re somewhat similar looking. I’m happy with the performance of the 777, it’s exactly what I needed . The 720 served me well, but it was a little bit tough doing the thicker leaf work on my back lot. The 777 in the first mode does most of what I need to. I really believe keeping it in the first mode prolongs battery life. The higher modes are great for pushing leaf piles. I do run my 777 with the flat nozzle which makes it longer and nicer to use.

I have the 772 and was hoping the 777 was enough of an upgrade to warrant a purchase, but unfortunately it sounds like it isn't. I could see them releasing an updated version of the 777 to address some of the problems. I'll just use the $$$ I won't spend on a new blower on another battery. ...or maybe put it toward a backpack blower for the more CFM I'm after.

Thanks for the video! Ive really been anticipating this. I'm devastated at the huge miss by DeWalt. 15 models of drill and impact a year and a blower every couple years and this is what we get. Well, maybe in 10 years they'll try again. Sometimes, i really regret going with DeWalt.

Hey Brian, nice review. Happy I decided to go w/ the Milwaukee M18 dual battery after seeing this I'd rather have the consistent runtime for the duration than the gimped experience the newer DeWalt affords towards the bottom of its battery cycle. I use the Milwaukee for cleaning out the garage, around the house, and drying off the truck after a wash. For heavier outdoor duties such as leaf clearing the yard or blowing wet leaves off the pool cover, the Ego 765 blower is my go-to. Always enjoy your content ! I never buy a power tool w/o first seeing if you're one of the folks that reviewed it !

I’ve got a 772 and originally bought it to replace my aging echo gas blower and it was ok but the battery life, like you said doesn’t last as long as a gas blower. In the end I purchased a Stihl BR600 and that blower “ blew away” the 772. Bottom line, MOST gas blowers for longevity, outlast and outperform most battery blowers. So now, I just use the 772 mainly to dry vehicles after their washed and small cleanups around the house.

I've had the 772 (BA572 here in Oz) for about 12 mths, thinking it would be a nice upgrade (being battery-powered) compared to my petrol Stihl BG86. The 772 works well but it really 'screams' when on full blast, and it is a case of 'must wear ear muffs' The 777 appears to have about the same db level as the 772 so apart from a different shape and position of battery, it's almost the same with not much improvement. My disappointment with the 772 (572) is that even using the larger Flexvolt battery, it doesn't run for long enough. I've decided to sell my 772 due to the noise issue and battery power running time - I am going back to my Stihl BG86

I way prefer the simplicity and length vs handle position of the DCBL772. I don't want an electronic nanny or additional buttons to get full power, just squeeze the trigger and push the accelerator pedal. The noise 45 to 60 degrees off axis is much high than straight behind these types of axial open fans, the battery at the back of the 772 reduces noise straight behind, but amplifies this angle off noise.

The 772 runs at just less than 5 minutes per AH and the 777 runs at just under 4 mins per Ah at WOT. The 772 with the 9Ah (3Ah) battery would have the same runtimes as the 777 wit the 12Ah (4Ah).

My 572 is identical to your 772, it seems. With the motor under the handle and battery further out the back I think the 572/772 balance issues are fixed. But the whole button deal is a deal breaker and the older one is ample powerful enough for me and more powerful than the few gas powered ones I've tried, and the nose heavy balance issue isn't bad enough for the amount of work I do with it. I have considered extending the battery holder rearward or adding a handle up front, but probably will never bother.

I hate the logistics of gas powered. Battery is instant gratification. I am very content with the old one. It has a nice balance for a big blower. AND, I like the longer tube as I have a lot of rock wall in pine forest coming down to a wood deck and lots of little nooks and crannies for pine needles and after a season basically build up of dirt. Being able to get that long tube right down to the nooks and crannies is great and it will blow out just about anything... Wear safety glasses and I even use the ones that cup up to the face sometimes.

I have the older model. I love it. Very powerful, good runtime, very ergonomic in hand it falls down perfectly. I don't understand the shorter model, don't you want the maximum wind possible at the nearest point of your work? In your demonstration, the older model seems to handle the leafs a lot better because the nozzle is closer. The 772 is not "best in class" but it's still a very solid unit. Edit: i should have finished the video before 😅

Im not surprised they've redesigned the 772. Ive put it to task the last 12 months and its been great but has a huge design flaw. Anything over a 9ah battey is difficult to remove. I suspect dewalt is aware of this. I have to use a flathead screwdriver to get 12ah batteries out of the unit as the space for the battery is limited

@jzzzzzb
@jzzzzzb 8 ай бұрын
Run time on the 777 (or any blower for that matter) isn’t amazing I feel…the only solution is to have multiple batteries ready to go. For light work, someone might be able get away with a since battery…but for any significant leaf blowing, I feel like people are fooling themselves if they think that any battery blower will do the job with just one battery. My house is only 5 years old, so all the deciduous trees are very young…most of them just in place for 2 or 3 years, so they’re not very big. It’s still took a 4 or more batteries (an 8ah, 6ah, and some 4/5ah XR batteries) on the 20V blower, and there were still leaves scattered. I didn’t have the 60V blower last fall, we will see how fast it goes through the batteries then. The only thing that might make it use a little less is that it’s more powerful, thus more effective at moving the leaves.

Minor point: The "9Ah" battery pack is actually NOT 3Ah at 60V, but rather 3Ah at 54V. Look at the Watt-hour rating printed on the battery, divide by 3Ah, and you get 54V - the true nominal voltage of the battery. At 60V, it only has 2.7Ah. DeWalt marketing shenanigans... 🙄
