REALLY good review. I bought the DCS578 in Jun/2020 days after it came out and I love it. I am looking for a saw for my daughter who just moved out and she needs some tools, as she has none. I was considering the new DCS590 as it had such good reviews. After watching some comparison videos, and yours was the best by far....I'll get her the 578 too.

great tests, since I got the brushless 6.5 I sold my power detect 7 1/4. I used my corded circular saw for more demanding cutting. that flex volt sounds amazing

Can you please test a powerstack battery on the powerdetect saw in comparison with the 60v saw? I got frustrated with the 20V saw with flexvolt batteries (which I used because they are 9Ah and bigger than any other batteries I have and it was burning through batteries fast), and bought a 60V saw - amazing difference! But I think the flexvolt is older technology so curious to see if a powerstack battery would make the 20V saw more useful.

My guess is 60v will beat PD, but let's see what the deal actually is. It's officially on the list.
@toolrev7 ай бұрын
I just remembered the reason I never got into reviewing PD tools. It's the 8 amp hr 20V battery thing. I don't see the point of investing in anything larger than a 5 amp XR unless it also runs my 60v tools. Plus it seems like PD tools were just to give Lowes something to sell not available at Home Depot. Still, I want to know so we'll grab the right batteries and do a showdown. Stay tuned!

@@toolrev Yeah, that's why I was using 9Ah flexvolts with mine...
@toolrev7 ай бұрын
@@caseygina3553 okay, so we'll see the 8vs9 in the showdown. I'm guessing the 8 amp 20V batteries run the same 21700 cells as the 9 amps Flexvolts. We'll see!

Forgot to mention the saw I got frustrated with was a PowerDetect. I don't have any XR batteries larger than 4Ah. I do have 5Ah Powerstack batteries but the job (subfloor removal) is complete now. I was cutting through 3/4" particle board glued to plywood - the 60V saw performed MUCH better, saved time, and got a lot more work done on the same Flexvolt battery charge.

Having the 9AH FV battery included with my string trimmer was nice. Good to see it is an insane battery in this tool as well, since I was eyeing this too!

Hey Alex, Iv seen this video about 10 times after reviewing prices and kits on Home Depot. I saw your video about the XR rebranding. Is the 60v the better saw to buy knowing what you know today? Thanks for making these vids
@toolrevАй бұрын
Depends on what you do. The 60V is the better saw if you want the most power/performance. That said, you need to run the 9 amp Flexvolt battery to really get the juice. The 6 amp Flexvolts are weak. So, you could run the 20V 590/573 on a 5 amp PowerStack and prob get the same performance as a 60V on a 6 amp. I use the 20V 6.5 saw for remodeling, sometimes on the 9 amp Flexvolt, but usually on a 5 amp XR so... depends.

I bought the dcs590 but the blade wasn’t square and not lining up with 0 shoe. Was able to make the blade square but seems no way to get it in line with shoe, it’s off by 1/8”. Have seen a lot of complaints about it with previous models, is that just how DEWALT circular saws are?
@toolrev2 ай бұрын
Just checked and the 590 I have is square between the blade and shoe. If yours is off, or not cutting straight, return it. I'd recommend returning it for a 60 Volt cause the 590 kinda sucks anyway. I'll mention yours is off in my review.
@ufomism2 ай бұрын
@@toolrev thanks, yeah I'm going to return it.

I've heard that the flexvolt battery on a 20 volt tools burns it up cuz it overloads it ,is that true?
@toolrev3 ай бұрын
I've run 9 amp Flexvolts on all kinds of 20V tools since they came out and haven't had any issues. I even run Milwaukee tools on them. I have smoked tools on 20V batteries so who really knows what causes what. I know some reviewers get attention for saying that Flexvolt burns up 20V tools, and maybe they are smarter than the engineers at DeWalt, but probably not. By the way the Flexvolt Advantage reviewed here has just been rebranded as the new (not new) DCS590 XR.

Honest question here. I’ve never used dewalt but looking to start buying. I was told you can’t use flex volt batteries in non flex volt tools. Is this true? I’ve been using ryobi for many years but I’m no longer happy with the product but I’m trying to figure out exactly what to go for.
@toolrev5 ай бұрын
Flexvolt batteries are made to be used with 20V, which I've been doing since they came out with no issues. Some people think if a tool burns out while on a 60V battery it must be the battery but then when a tool burns out on a 20V battery they blame the tool. I wouldn't worry about it. If you go Flexvolt I like the 9 amps the best as they, and the 12 amps, use the more powerful 21700 cells vs. the 6 and 15 amp Flexvolts that use 18650 cells. I like DeWalt for saws and drills and Milwaukee for their nail guns and the m18 FUEL multi-tool. I also use some of their M12 stuff.
