First of I can't tell you how grateful me an the community are for these tests, especially for opening the new battery! Thanks to this I can see that cells inside are Ampace 21700A (JP40), 4ah tabless 21700 cells rated at 45-60A cont depending on the temp, compared to 30A cont from the old regular 4Ah 21700 cells. They really seem to work great. Btw Ampace is the OEM for pouch packs for DeWalt and Flex tools.

@2:10 you remark about ëxtra protection, but I think that might just be to protect the RFID tag under that bit of thermal-resistant tape, rather than protecting the solder joint? Probably doesn't matter either way, just a small note.

Absolute monster of a drill. However, I think for my needs, I'll probably still aim to get the 805. Cheaper and more compact. Doubt I would ever put the full power of these beasts to use.

No problem! Yeah its a monster, I didn't expect it to do well after seeing TTCs test. But the new 8ah clearly make a huge difference. Yeah me too for the most part the DCD805 will do everything I need.

Honestly dewalt makes one battery that sets them apart from everyone else and is the only reason id consider the brand. Its the 1.7ps. For how small and lightweight it is, giving regular 6ah performance, it almost feels competitive with 12v platforms with 18v power
@Tools-Tested
@Tools-Tested 7 күн бұрын
Yep I agree 100% pipeline was a huge letdown imo. That 1.7 is the perfect use of pouch cells. But Milwaukee release only 8/12 while Rigid and Ryobi have a new 4ah. No the 4ah is not the 1.7 in size but it at least should pack a punch.
@james2042
@james2042 7 күн бұрын
@Tools-Tested the new 4ah for ryobi and ridgid will be like the old 3ah that was a 1p of 21700 cells and regularly out performed its larger counterparts. But like that 3ah it will be almost 2p size. I would love a ryobi edge battery in the form factor of the 1.5ah battery, I don't care if it's only 1.5ah, it would allow them to compete with things like skil and their 12v lineup weight wise while sticking to the oneplus

@@Tools-Testedto be fair, Milwaukee has their 3.0Ah compact HO battery which is pretty much the baseline for me with the Milwaukee tools that I own (battery nailers!!!) … the battery looks goofy on the Gen 4 Milwaukee but it’s arguably a direct competitor to the 1.7Ah PS from Dewalt…. And this is coming from huge Dewalt fanboy lol Milwaukee should make a 3.0Ah forge battery instead of a 1.7Ah or 2.0Ah… their batteries generally dies quicker compared to other competitors (like Dewalt) so a 1.7Ah would have more disadvantages/complaints from the community in my opinion

I'm curious what the output is in hammer drill mode. They spec higher rpm's for some reason. Maybe power as well? I have not seen anyone test this. The previous generations were like this as well. You could also shift it back into normal drill mode while it's running without losing the extra speed.

3:19 out of curiosity, how long do you wait between each test? Copper's resistivity increases by 0.4%/celsius (0.22%/F) and mosfets are about 0.5%/C, so each run is likely to get weaker from the drill getting hotter.

@Tools-Tested 12? I thought you said average of 3. Do you do every battery once (there's 13 in your chart), then wait an hour, then 2nd run on all batteries, then wait an hour, then 3rd run? Which order of batteries do you normally do? Highest to lowest or lowest to highest?

Interesting stuff. Thanks for collecting so much data. I personally don’t need it, but I’d be really interested in knowing how well different drills perform at 1/4 battery. Can you drill big holes all day long, or do some of the drills only perform well for the first couple holes of a battery charge? I’m an amateur and I work slowly, so I don’t need all day battery runtime. It’s purely curiosity.

I love seeing that old rocker switch Snap On screw gun come out! I use mine on all my RC cars. I do wish the clutch went a little lower in torque, though I know it was never meant to be a precision thing. So this is the new Dewalt power pack that uses tab-less cells but does not replace the power stack correct? Do wet know if a power pack greater than 5AH is coming out? I’m super excited to see you get your hands on the new totally not pouch cell but totally still named Forge batteries. I’m not a fan of DeWalt but that drill is pretty powerful. But it’s also quite wide! Got a big honkin motor in there!
@Tools-Tested
@Tools-Tested 3 күн бұрын
Yeah that snapon screw gun is handy, really love that trigger. I would say they keep the 1.7 and 5 but dont add anymore considering the performance we are seeing. Im sure the cost to make is a lot lower as well. Yeah it will be inserting to see hoe the new 8/12 forge do, confusing naming though. Dewalt seems to be investing in new tools lately.

Can care less if it was made in China (as if that's a bad thing anyways; QC is hit or miss many times in general.). That said, WOW!! If I was looking for a new drill, this would be up there. The upgraded handle is a long time quality of life & practical necessity lol. The adjustable LED (I remember using the 999 a while back) super bright - enough that even a headlamp wouldn't be necessary I recall lol. And the rubberized battery pack is a bonus atop the performance kick you get. The subdued colors are also nice (personal preference**). It's a gurthy boy but it packs the punch alright 👍🏽 Awesome coverage & review!

Could care less that You could care less of this drill’s Origin. Are You Pro China or something, because it sounds like it based on your wording? It’s a Global market, but there are some that would prefer items made elsewhere, as in Taiwan, Vietnam, or Mexico, or best yet, HERE, in the U. S. A. !!! I have found some of DeWalt’s tools made in Mexico, not quite as good as from China? Who knows?

Really compare apples with apples, how you playing :pouch cells, 8 ah 40volts! Now tabless cells.. what a heck learn something of TTC, and make no diferente with 5 ah 18650 standard
@Tools-Tested
@Tools-Tested 6 күн бұрын
So I’m just supposed to exclude pouch cells because other brands don’t offer them? and never test 40v bc it’s 40v.. I test the tools with every available battery so you can go back and compare your “apples to apples” in the charts. It’s pointless just to compare them all with a 5ah 18650 pack. The battery is just as important as the tool so why would you disqualify it? The point is to see which tool performs the best correct? If you notice TTC is testing with different ah battery’s and pouch so I’m confused?
