Thank you so much for the review. I have a DeWalt DCD780 20V cordless drill/driver. Don't laugh but I hadn't a clue what any of the settings were for. I also had no idea of the power it had. Thanks for the post. I have ordered a kit that comes with the impact driver. With the 2" hole saw on, you had the drill on torque setting #13. If you had it on the drill-mode, it would have drilled through the plywood without hesitation.
@ultimatehandyman

That is correct, but the torque control is to prevent damage to the drill and the user, which is why I always use it with hole-saws. Thanks for the comment 👍

Hello. I have a few questions please. WHY did you use the low setting, instead of high, for the drilling into wood and metal? In general, isn’t higher speed better for drilling? Also, when you used the hole saw, why didn’t you put the drill into drill mode? You put it on # 13 instead. WHY? Is that because it won’t kick/jerk your wrists if it gets stuck in the wood? The clutch stops the drill. I know if it’s in drill mode, the drill can jerk in your hands. A little risky. Lastly, do you still highly recommend this drill? I don’t want to spend a lot of money on the newest version. I was thinking of buying this particular model in 20V (I’m in USA). Do you still presently have and use this drill? Thank you for the video.
@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman Жыл бұрын
The lower speed setting gives more torque. When using hole saws, it is important to use the clutch, as you rightly say- to prevent injury to the user! This drill is OK, but there are better drills out there. The chuck on this drill is not brilliant, and a few people have commented saying that the chuck cannot be replaced! 👍

Yes, you need to apply force to the drill, also ensure that hammer action is selected. It’s also important to make sure that the drill bit you are using had a tungsten tip. Example drill bits here- bit.ly/3uaRP9B 👍

And actually i am drilling woods not very hard wood ...but its too frustrating it wont go through and i have to chisel it in the end...i would rather chisel it all the way through j/k

They are 20v in the USA, but 18v in the UK. I'm sure they are exactly the same, but named differently in some countries.

They’re all actually 18v ours here in America say 20v MAX which is what it puts out when the battery is at max charge but after it’s used for just a second or 2 it will drop down and continue to run at 18v

iNCORRECT. The 791 & 796 are two speed as shown here, no matter where you are in the world. Its also an 18 volt tool but only marketed as a 20 volt tool in the US by the marketing wanks. The DCD991 and 996 are the bigger 3 speed models. Its ok, your special...

How the hell to they justify pricing a dewault drill set with 2 battery's for £100 yet a battery alone is £50????

@@ultimatehandyman yes just having a rant as I have a DeWalt 18v cordless with 2 lithium Batts both are knackered, I've had a quick look on line and it's cheaper to buy a new cordless with battery's lol how do they justify the price of buying one battery??? So two would cost around £100 but could buy a brand new drill with 2 Batts for that it's almost as if your only really paying for Batts and drill is free lmao
@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman 5 жыл бұрын
Some manufacturers do special deals like that, so that you buy the drill. Then when you buy the next tool, you go for the same make, as you already own the batteries and chargers. Bosch were doing a similar deal at screwfix a few months back, they had a Bosch 18v drill kit for about £90 with batteries, charger and case. It was worth buying the kit just for the batteries and charger!

Ultimate Handyman a lot of people say that the DeWalt has a defect on the chuck: the drill bit always falls off and the chuck vibrate. Because I want to buy a professional drill, I'm scared about this problem. On youtube there are a lot of videos about this topic and can you suggest me what drill can I buy? I am thinking that the right drill for me is the Bosch (blue line) GSB 18v 5 li (i don't remember the exact model), but that's that. What do you think about a problem like this?

Hi Ultimate Handyman In Australia they sell DeWalt 10 volt , 14.4 volt and 18 volt cordless tools , I have some 14.4 volt tools with the modern type XR batteries only the hardware store that sells them is closing down and I Can't find any-where else that sell 14.4 volt DeWalt tools . so the batteries are in short supply What I want to know is , will my tools run on 18volt batteries as they will slide into the carrier the same as the 14.4 volt batteries
@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman 8 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure, sorry. With the XRP batteries they all fit the one battery charger but you could not put the incorrect voltage battery in the other tools.
