I think the 887 was released in 2015 (or announced/showcased) The 845 is actually about the same as the 887 believe it or not… it’s a let down… luckily Dewalt introduced the 860 that’s coming out soon… it’s definitely 🔥

So I might like the 845 as well tbh… but am definitely going for the 860 because I want it And depending on what you’re doing with it, the vibration will either be negligible or really noticeable… I’m just a general contractor so I doubt I’ll notice it since I’ll mostly be using the impact driver for 4in screws or smaller Maybe if you’re a mechanic or someone that doesn’t like using a drill for large screws/fasterners

I have combo sets of both. Give me the flex all day. Yes, heavier but that extra heavyness helps in driving power.

If you put more load on a dril/driver it will make it run slower since youre adding weight thus needing more torque so ... Its the opposite but yeah you need a balance

Cost, batteries, that only matters to homeowners. When it comes to pros, the ONLY thing that matters is how does it do in the field and what kind of warranty you're getting. Nothing lasts forever, but you're not going to buy something that you have to keep replacing. I can't wait to start buying Flex tools. They continually up the game. They remind of me Bosch when they were at their height, just dominating everything across the board. When you bought a Bosch, you knew you could beat it like it owed you money and it'd just turn around and say, "Thank you sir. May I have another?" Now, I'm far from a DeFault fan. In fact, I hate them because when I was running my own company and a brand new compressor I bought from them failed, they refused to honor the warranty and told me that it was going to cost me $150 to replace the motor of a NEW compressor that I was using on my first job with it. I told them to go to hell. Having said that, 20V vs 24V is not a fair test. Of course the Flex (which I'll be buying from now on) is going to cream the DeFault.

Because it's Pointless! The new DeWalt XR 845 got beaten by Flex so easily and effortlessly only Standard 18650 cell 5Ah battery. We also tried the new DeWalt power stack 5Ah vs Flex 6Ah Stack lithium and The DeWalt is not even Close enough to win. Even The Milwaukee Gen4 M18 Fuel with High Output. But we're gonna do the test again because we're waiting for the new Milwaukee's 6Ah Forge Battery in our town.

I like flex tools as I have 5. However, as other people commented the lineup of tools for Flex is limited. I do hope they come out with additional tools as it is nice to use one tool platform for battery purposes.

I have DeWalt stuff, and have no issues with the results here. The issue with Flex is how heavy it is, and how (currently) limited their tool range is compared to DeWalt. I'm not a pro, and I'll never use either tool at its limits, so comfort is really my biggest issue, and DeWalt tools have great grips that just feel awesome in the hand. Mix that with a much lighter tool, and that's a good combo. Personally I'd go with the 850 in any case, then you also got a much smaller tool as well. With all that said, if Flex sticks around and expands their range, I'll certainly consider them in the future. I love my Ego lawn stuff, and I love how much more modern of a take Flex has on tools, so I hope they push the other makers to modernize their feature sets.

Who’s the manufacturer of that socket adapter on the flex? My flex set on 3 will twist off that adapter within a couple uses, with it set on 2 it might last a couple days, the best I’ve found was the stubby Milwaukee but them to won’t last no more than 3-4 days

We're phasing out Dewalt. Replaced our xr impact, drill and reciprocating saw with Flex basic brushless, not even the BL. Just blows em out of the water. But we're also going to Milwaukee simply cuz ofthe variety.

Flex, Marita, Milwaukee and dewalt are good tools I know some don’t like the weight of flex tools but to me flex feels like a better made tool dewalt and Milwaukee both seem to have a lot of fit and finish issues

This is an excellent review and it is impressive. I own a lot of Flex tool (over $250K) and based on the video, I will throw away my Flex tools and start investing into the future by upgrading to DeWALT. Thanks for your suggestion.

If you have a lot and switched then you must not be extremely bright by changing. To the point, you are not not a dummy and therefore, you do not have a lot when switching over. Remember, this is Flex Tool not to be confused with Festool

Weight is a big thing. If your using the tool overhead. Also all day long if you use a lighter tool you will be working faster. If I need to drive Bolts, I use the right tool an impact wrench. The impact driver is for driving screws, not breaking lug nuts off a truck. But yes the Flex warranty is hard to beat. And it has the power if you need it.

I have had a Flex for a year and it is very strong but the batteries do not last. Of the 5 batteries I have, none of them work anymore. I took one apart out of curiosity and it was as if something inside had melted. And they are very expensive.

Both batteries are 5Ah, but the Flex battery has 24V and DeWalt has only 20V. If anyone here has a degree in physics, please explain how the Flex battery does not contain 20% more energy than the DeWalt battery. Concidering U*I*time = E

the working voltage is closer to 18 vs 19 or 20. sizes of sockets/and bits and weight of the tool and battery all matter more. Ultimately the better built tool always wins thats why m18 fuel smokes 40 volt ryobi, 40 makita. Flex in some cases loses to the 36V hikoki impact so.... it really matters how hard the impacts hit and calculate the Force --> Force = Mass of the internal hammers x Acceleration of the anvils - some of the impact is lost in thicker bit holders and extensions of course. speed if you're a pro is important but for the everyday joe shmoe I'd grab the lighter dewalt. I've been wanting to go all in on flex 100% but the weight of their tools has me on the fence. Great quality tools from both brands but I'm in 8 + platforms and go with whatever tool can get the job done without transferring shock, vibrations, impact, or bad grips to me. People should go for good tools that wear themselves out and not the user.

I used to use DeWalt, but when they switched from 18v to 20v that really made me mad. The adapter they came up with was a joke. In my opinion this was a scam to get you to buy DeWalt tools all over again. I bought all new tool but they were all Flex. DeWalt? Never again!
