I bought a DCF845 to replace an older DCF887 and it is a little smoother feeling. I sorta wish I went with the DCF850 due to the depth allowing it to fit in tighter spaces.

So not just me who feels like the 845 is smoother somehow...neat. Can always get an 850 too lol although out of the two, I'd take the 845 over the 850.

I have the DCF801 and I recently got a 12V5A battery which increased the performance of the tool quite significantly. It could be good to test it your way and see the differences.
@SomeGuysGarage10 ай бұрын
No doubt it would help, just like a 5ah out performs a 2ah on the 20v line. Thing is, the 12v line for me is small and light duty use, so having a larger battery defeats that purpose. Of course if see one on sale for a good price, I might be tempted ;)
@magicscorner10 ай бұрын
@@SomeGuysGarageAgree with the portability. The capacity is just one factor, the weight is important, but the max current is more beneficial for drills and impact drivers. I use my 5Ah with my reciprocating saw, works almost 3x longer than a 3Ah which gets overheated very quickly. If you have a chance, please test the 5Ah. Regards.

The 887 gets extra points because it's 10 years old. Not quite a fair comparison if it's that old, but also a strong endorsement that it's still working well.
@SomeGuysGarage6 ай бұрын
For sure, the 887 even ignoring its age is still a great impact driver...I've been using them so long that I have better trigger control with it, so I often grab it before the new ones. It definitely gets the extra points in my book too :)

what happens if the battery is 2 ah vs 5 ah ?
@SomeGuysGarage4 ай бұрын
Minor performance improvements with the bigger battery. I used a 1.7ah powerstack because it's about the same as a 5ah in performance. I mostly use these impacts with the 2ah though day to day, nice balance of weight, power, and runtime.

What’s the difference in the 845 and 845b
@SomeGuysGarage8 ай бұрын
The 845 is likely in a kit with a battery or two (there should be something like d2 at the end saying 2 of a certain size battery) The 845b is just the bare tool with no batteries or accessories (bag, charger, etc.) Otherwise, they are identical from a tool perspective.

@SomeGuysGarage6 ай бұрын
@@movaughn20 yeah, TTC did just check that one out a week or two ago and did have some broken bits. This is far more likely when using socket adapters on an impact driver, when used with screws you're more likely to break the screw. I reocmmend not using an impact driver with a socket adapter anyway, just get an impact wrench (who doesn't want more tools?) I guess if you are trying to decide 845 or 850, just pick up whichever is cheaper?

The dcf845 is also faster than the Dcf850 But not stronger. You should test the torque now! Excellent video.
@SomeGuysGarage6 ай бұрын
Yup, 845 is the fastest right now...and really that is what usually matters with impact drivers more so than outright torque. As for measuring torque, I don't have a test rig for that but our friends at Torque Test Channel have done some great testing there :)
@sblspawn30044 ай бұрын
The dcf801 with a 2ah battery against three impact drivers of 20V with 5ah batteries wasn't a good idea. You should use the 5ah battery for the 12v or 2ah batteries on the 20 volt. Maybe next time! Anyway, good video.
@SomeGuysGarage4 ай бұрын
It's what I had, most DCF801 kits come with the little 2ah....so just acts as a reference point for those considering it. It was never supposed to be fair to put a 12v in with the 20v :)

@@SomeGuysGarage Exactly my point! For reference, I would have liked to see the performance of the 12v with the same size battery. It would have been technically more beneficial! We all know they are different voltages! But anyway, thanks for the video.
