It’s great for a sleeveless garment like this!

I did not know the difference between stretch and jersey needle. First time doing pleated boxes and they come out lovely. Thank you for the lovely video.

I often have to remind myself on that one! And my pleasure! Enjoy your Dewey!

So glad to see you've come up in the Club sewalong rotation! I was really hoping to see you do the sewalong for the Savin coat. Any chance you'll do anything for that pattern at some point? I need all your good advice on tailoring!

Well that’s nice of you to say! I’m not really a tailor- I’ve sewn tailored style garments like the Auburn Blazer on my channel but I’m not technically a tailor style sewist. I do think that coat comes with a sew along doesn’t it? I can’t see it since I’m not a club member but I looked through the instagram posts and it says it has one! I’m always up for video gigs and sponsored live streams but I’m not sure if this one will come my way. Sorry!

@@SewSewLive Yes, there was a sewalong - just not (to my mind) as thorough as yours would have been!

@jleebeane01 Oh shoot! Well I’ll keep it in the back of my head. I never say no to their offers to make videos! Good to know you’d be interested!

Hmmm. I’m never successful sewing darts without spending a whole lot of time drawing lines and trying to pin the lines together. Am I missing something? Am I making it more complicated than I need to?

I think you should sew them however you like! Nothing wrong with how you’re doing it. Yours might look nicer than mine!

I never take short cuts - they might work for very experienced sewist or just simplify the procedure for viewers. I don't mind taking my time, as for me it is a hobby. I even hand basted the pleats!!! Plus I suspect she had starched her knit - she explained that on another Cashmerette pattern tutorial (Brattle twisted top)

I don’t really think there are shortcuts in sewing. The technique you use really depends on your fabric choice, the way you feel most confident sewing it, and the end result you want. I also think a lot of techniques that seem like the ‘proper’ way are harder and fussier and then you don’t get a great look because you’re fussing with it so much. For example, I don’t use a lot of pins because they sort of make me sew worse. Sort of like trying to sew in a long straight line but you have to stop 10 times and then it gets choppy. Most sewing boils down to fabric handling. And that’s where the experience helps a lot. But also-confidence! It’s much easier to do anything with a bit of confidence! Sew it how you like. That’s the right way. And I’ll ALWAYS tell you what I’m doing and if I did any prep (like starch).
