There's a long history of issues with that and doctors forcing surgeries on infants with ambiguous genitalia. Some states now recognize more than 2 sexes on their official documentation - and some intersexed people prefer to have that acknowledged on their documents.

Genuinely, why is this only such a big issue now? Trans people have existed for a long time and used the bathroom for a long time. You've probably used the bathroom with a trans person at some point in your life and didn't even notice. So why is it only a huge problem now? What problems will this actually stop? How exactly will this make bathrooms safer? Predators still exist and can still walk into whichever bathroom at any time. And how will this be enforced? Genital checks? On children??? Checking someone's physical appearance? Checking someone's ID? What if someone changes their gender marker on their ID or passport? What if someone has transitioned and passes? What if cis people get stopped, targeted, and transvestigated because people assume they're trans? I personally believe the best solution is to get rid of gendered bathrooms as a whole. Single stall unisex bathrooms would work best, allowing trans and cis people to pee in peace without any of this controversy, and it would decrease the risk of predators preying on women and children. Just like the bathrooms we use at home. The only drawback is the amount of time and money it would take to remodel every public bathroom space.

I don't agree with minor transition but as a near passing trans woman, this bill is just harmful and does not fix any REAL issues. If youre gonna tell me trans women are this much of a threat in bathrooms, ima just laugh in your face. If trans women, me included were actually a real threat, youd be seeing news articles a whole lot more about cases of this happening, which there is not. People only see the bad in trans people because of that small portion of "trans women" who make the rest of the community look terrible. As a trans woman, every time i go into the female restrooms, i show respect and am respected back. WERE NOT ALL CREEPS. Question: what about out of state college students or even in state college students who have had their gender changed on an out of state birth certificate? Some states don't even log what was changed when a birth certificate is updated. So good luck trying to enforce this in that way. How do they intend to enforce such a ludicrous law? Require people to drop their trousers or lift their skirts to show their genitals? Well that method only works on non-op trans people or still mid transition people and primes kids for even worse scenarios down the road. Maybe have people swipe their ID to enter a bathroom? Kids don't have IDs, and people from out of state may have had their gender marker changed. DNA reader at the doors? Then you could have people assigned a female gender at birth, raised female and identifying as female told to use the men's room due to a genetic defect giving them Y chromosomes. Again how can you enforce this? If the law is not enforceable then why waste the paper, ink and law makers time drafting the bill? It would have been more cost effective to just have the law makers sit at a table day dreaming the day away.
